Fritai is my go-to spot for Haitian food in NOLA, and trust me, it's always a vibe! I've been here more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. Now, let's keep it real...this isn't your momma's Haitian cooking, but that's okay. They've put their own twist on the classics, and honestly? I'm here for it. The flavors still hit, and it's a fun, creative take on the dishes we know and love. The drinks? Phenomenal. Whether you're in the mood for a killer cocktail or a refreshing natural juice, they've got you covered. And wait for it... they have kremas! Say less. The service is always on point, and I'm obsessed with the Haitian artwork on the walls...bonus points because you can actually buy it. So, if you haven't been yet, what are you even doing? Get to Fritai and thank me later!

Made a reservation, however was not needed as when we arrived there were only two other small parties there. Seated quickly, but I will say there was only one waitress and took some time to get her attention throughout our time here. Fritai platter was a good way to try everything, but you do also get the plantains with many other dishes (like we did with the creole chicken). My husband really liked the creole chicken, it was simple but the sauce was very good. I couldn't tell if it was the same sauce as the creole hot wings we got, but those were tasty as well. The rice & beans that came with the creole chicken were good, my negative is just that they were cold. Next time, I think I would order separate appetizers (not the platter) as it just ended up being a lot of fried food. Would definitely go back to try more!

Somewhat off the beaten path gem in New Orleans.Excellent Haitian Food. The double cooked pork Griyo and goat Kabrit dishes were sublime though for me the Pikliz "cole slaw" was a bit too spicy; not to worry my wife ate it for me.The toasted Corn Ribs were the waitresses favorite and we can see why; simple yet delicious.Very friendly service, the chef came out and was beaming at our positive comments, good value though some might find it a bit expensive, definitely worth a visit.Nice ambiance and music.

This was probably our favorite restaurant we tried on our trip. Everything we had was good. The plantain chips were thin and crispy and went well with the coco-lime sauce. The fried red snapper was a nice size and the meat was fresh and tender. The rice and beans and fried plantains were all very good. The sos pwa with oxtails was very flavorful. The oxtails was cooked well and was also very tender. The portion sizes are pretty generous, as well. Service was a bit slow, but at least you know your food is going to be fresh. I highly recommend this place. You can't go wrong here!

A NOLA MUST! This place was amazing! Came during the week for an early dinner, and we were seated immediately. We had a reservation but probably could've got a table without one. For appetizers we had the fritay platter and coconut plantain which were good. Only thing I wish the Akra was bigger. For entrees I had the shrimp and my friend had the goat, we both loved our meals. They played mixed West-Indian music. Growing up Haitian I know authentic Haitian food when I taste it and this was it! Definitely would go back the next time I'm in town. We also loved our beverages, great flavor combinations.

I came here on a Wednesday night with a group of 7 people. I was excited to try this place out as I had never eaten Haitian food before. We were seated pretty quickly but it took a while for our orders to be taken. We were eventually able to get water for the table and put our drink orders in. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and it was alright. I feel like it could have been sweeter. The lemonade and hibiscus are both very tart together. For the entree I chose the kabrit platter which was super tasty. It was a very generous portion of goat meat and the sides were good. I expected a little more flavor from the rice and peas but overall it was a very satisfying dish and a good introduction to NOLA restaurants.

This is my second time here. My husband is Haitian & my MIL can throw down. When I tell you everything is BUSSIN? I mean that. Get down here please. If you've never had Haitian food, this is a great way to be introduced to the cuisine. For an app, get the Fritai platter. Platter comes with griot (fried pork), plantains (sweet & green), akra, Pikliz (wasn't spicy surprisingly), and a mango sauce. Fritai is on my must visit list every time I come to New Orleans now. Everything is so good. The vibe is fun. Kompa on the speakers and good, strong drinks. Happy hour is a good deal, too. 1/2 off drinks and apps. Service is great, too.

We chose this place because it was near the show we were going to and I love a good rice and beans. It's pretty intimate, brightly colored, nice little set up. The staff had god recommendations I think the best was to get on of the set up drinks. You get a mini bar and they tell you how to make the drinks and you can kinda make it to your own taste if you want to experiment a bit. We did the ti punch set up. It was strong and very good definitely one of the highlights. Appetizer was Creole hot wings. They do some really good wings. The spice was at a perfect level. For main I got the Griyo. The twice cooked pork was amazing. It was almost like cracklins, crispy on the outside soft in the middle. With that came rice and beans and like I said love some rice and beans and theirs was great.

Cuz the food is simply DELICIOUS! This restaurant feels like family. Very simple decor and layout, but the food...5 stars isn't enough. I started with the Corn Ribs, which is honestly such a good idea to cut them that way because it made eating, and absorbing whatever that amazing sauce was, that much easier. I wish I knew what herb was on the corn.... Then I got the Whole fish, which was the freshest trout I think I've ever tasted. The fish had bones (which doesn't bother me) and was packed with some type of delicious green herb butter. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked! The tomato based sauce was a great accompaniment to the fish. I honestly couldn't tell you much about the rice and peas because the fish was just that good. Food came out super quick making the service A1 to me! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in NOLA!

the food was really good. the whole fish was delicious as was the pork. the service was sime of the worst I have ever experienced. we made a reservation 30+ days in advance for 6 people and were stuffed into a booth meant for 4 people. We asked to be moved to the table next to us that just had a party of 6 leave. We were told it wasn't possible because another big party was coming in. No one ever came. We were ignored by the staff, took 30 minutes to get drinks. If I were a local, I would definitely get take out but not eat done in ever again
