Love this place offers a few different classes. Often offer workshops too, there are a variety of instructors as well. Close to Tulane & Loyola. campuses. FSY offers various accessories too (bricks, ropes, blankets, etc) to get a great experience. And the days you feel like yoga & being slightly hippie Feret street has some cute little places to eat that are close as well.

Geoffrey is a great instructor! Very patient and easy going. The class doesn't have a lot of pressure or attitude, just an opportunity to improve for your own sake on your own schedule!

OK, so I don't have any experience with other yoga studios with which to compare, but I have really enjoyed Geoffrey's classes. The beginner's classes that he teaches on Saturday mornings are great. He projects a very relaxed, no-pressure vibe, yet gives you confidence in what he is telling you to do. He also focuses on a different section of the body or series of poses at each of the beginner's classes, so there is a lot of variety from week to week.I had never done yoga before, but I am interested in continuing to practice it now!

I cannot say enough great things about FSY!! I am new to town and I had been looking for a nearby yoga studio to continue my practice. I decided to give FSY a try based on its positive reviews.Geoffrey is so warm, welcoming, skilled, relaxed, and kind. He makes a point of learning who everyone in his classes are by name. He truly is like no other yoga teacher I have had before. There isn't any pressure to compete with yourself or others in the class - but don't let that fool you into thinking that you will not get a fantastic workout. Every time I leave from one of his classes I feel invigorated. I can see the growth and change in my body and my practice. I have also taken classes with Heather and Brooke that have been equally amazing. You really utilize props in the classes to help facilitate your practice and grow (including chairs, blocks, rope wall, belts). I cannot put into words how much I love this studio. It absolutely is in a league of its own. Highly recommend to everyone! Beginners to the most experienced of yogis! Namaste

The two previous reviewers say it all, Geoffrey rocks! From the moment I emailed to ask about using my groupon, he was nothing but laid back, polite and extremely welcoming. The entire class was set at a pace that gave everyone the opportunity to learn in a comfortable and relaxed environment. I cannot wait to return this weekend, if there were more beginners classes I would have already returned! There was also a lightweight, joking attitude throughout the class, which made you feel so much more comfortable! Our class did fill up and the studio does not use an online reservation system, so I would suggest arriving a few minutes early. Also, there is a beautiful yard attached to the studio, so you can relax if the previous class has not finished by the time you arrive. Plus, the studio has a parking lot in front of it, which was a nice little bonus. I cannot speak for those more experienced in yoga, but if you're new to yoga and looking for great, non-itimidating classes to learn, I would highly recommend Freret Street Yoga!

this studio is absolutely beautiful. great atmosphere with a fabulous owner/teacher in geoffrey. it loses a star because i'm cheap and i think they are expensive. but if you're not cheap like me, you will probably be able to overlook that part. it seems to pull an older crowd (not that i'm a college kid myself or anything), but i think that might be reflective of the pricing. or maybe there are some yogi-cougars out there with a crush on their yoga teacher. geoffrey has a great attitude and as the other reviewers have said, he projects a laid-back and relaxed vibe. at first i found it insincere, but now i see that that's just how he is towards everyone. i must need more yoga to get past my cynical-ness. it's a change of pace to have a guy instructor since yoga is so dominated by women. his space allows some interesting things that other studios can't do (like the ropes on the wall - what a fun way to practice!) i have also been to another class with a female instructor (i think her name was laura?) and i really liked her as well. other great things: a lovely garden outside to walk around before class, free mats/props to borrow (always a plus when relatively swanky places are cool about that), and a tiny little library/book shelf to check out some yogi readings while you wait for class to start. the only other thing that i'm not a huge fan of (besides me being super cheap) is that the class levels listed don't seem to correlate to the class difficulty sometimes. i have found classes to really vary depending on the day, regardless of what the schedule says.

I'm giving Freret Street Yoga 5 stars! Geoffery, the owner and primary instructor is patient, caring and knowledgeable. He makes students feel comfortable in a relaxed manner, and I'm always amazed that he knows each student by name! I also like his constructive assistance in correcting my poses that adds to my enjoyment of his classes. : )

I have been practicing yoga for 15 years and Geoff leads my favorite classes I've had the pleasure of taking. Geoff mixes his Iyengar training, using props, holding poses and focusing on alignment, with a playful attitude, conscious approach and active flow to provide a thorough practice to strengthen, stretch and provide an excellent workout. I find that Geoff leads the classes in a way that you can tailor the practice to your level of strength, flexibility and energy. I've brought many friends with me with varying practice experience and types of backgrounds and everyone has enjoyed them. There's not a huge chanting component to his classes but enough of a focus on the breathing and finding your own pace to practice that you are left feeling grounded and quiet. The studio itself is well lit, conveniently located and is a peaceful space to practice. Geoff has also been open to listening to my scheduling needs and some other students and opened up a later eve class to accommodate my later schedule which has been really helpful.
