One of the many praline shops that you'll see in New Orleans, but also one of the more average praline shops.I felt that the pralines were lacking that really good fresh flavor, and nice walnut goodness, and the service here was horrible, and they were super stingy with their samples. Skip this place and go to Aunt Sally's or Leah's praline shop instead.

Cute little candy shop with lots of treats. The store is quite big and is more of a shop you go to if you want to grab something fresh to eat or order treats by the pound. The milk chocolate turtles caught my eye even though I didn't really have any extra room for a treat. It tasted so fresh and the chocolate was so smooth! I could have easily gone for another but I resisted. My husband ordered the peanut butter meltaway. It was a big piece of chocolate with a peanut butter filling that was also super smooth and fresh. The shop is kept neat and tidy and if this was local I could definitely see myself buying treats for the family and when going over someone's house. Fresh goods, clean atmosphere, and great taste. Perfect little candy shop!

This review is for pralines purchased at the Café Du Monde on Veterans Boulevard.I don't know if these pralines are old or if this is the way they are supposed to taste, but they are the absolute worst pralines I have purchased in New Orleans - ever!I was at Café Du Monde getting, of course, a hot drink and fresh beignets when I decided to purchase some pralines for my daughter. I had to wait 5 to 10 minutes before they could find three of them and agreed to take one café au lait praline in place of the other 'chewy' praline.Well, I THOUGHT I was getting chewy pralines. Instead, I have a hard block of solid granulated sugar with pecans throughout. It is absolutely inedible. At $2.25 a praline it's rather expensive garbage. There are numbers on the back that I can only assume are production or 'made on' dates or expiration dates. I hope for the sake of Evans Creole Candy Factory that it was the expiration date. The café au lait praline has '17219' and the original creole praline (I thought I was getting the chewy ones) have '17220'.So, bottom line is if you like hard granular pralines then these are the ones for you! If you, like me, like chewy pralines with the sugar blended in well then these are not for you - look elsewhere. Don't walk, run!

So how do you follow up some delicious beignets and coffee from Cafe Du Monde!? With some more delicious pralines and chocolates from Evens Creole Candy, why not I've been walking all day. Evans Creole Candy was one of the many French Quarter establishments I walked through along the mighty Mississippi. I like Evans Creole Candy. They are very nice, organized, clean, and friendly, well everyone in NOLA was very friendly while I was there so awesome job NOLA peeps. So one of the biggest reason I'm a fan is that they gave me free samples, I just had some sweets but hey who's gonna turn down free samples especially if I was gonna buy some. They also make them right in front of you which is always something cool. I don't know what happen to my pictures but they have some very delicious candy. Pick up a few boxes and bring um my way, I'm out.

Hands down the best pralines. They are not overly sweet like the other places I've tasted. There is something special about these pralines and I don't know exactly what it is. There is almost a subtle vanilla flavor that is in each praline. My favorite was the peanut butter praline followed by the original. They also have samples available.

Located in The French Quarter, a few doors down from Southern Candymaker. My husband and I came inside this late morning in the quest to find a good praline that we can take home. There are free samples in a small case that you can help yourself to. One sample had a coffee flavor and the other was their signature original. I thought these pralines were okay, but still rather on the sweet side.On the sweet rating, I would have to say that Southern Candymaker is the sweetest (a bit too sickeningly overly sweet to me), Aunt Sally's Praline and then Evan's Creole Candy Company. If the pralines were just a little less sweet, I would purchase a box. I guess I will have to keep looking.

Next time, I am stopping in the day before or of my departure so I can get the King Cake to last a week or freeze. Lovely bakery & friendly employees. The individual King Cakes are fresher & are easier to travel w/. Lots of other items to enjoy while there & the story behind the cake. Also a great souvenir/gift stop for a piece of NOLA for you or your friends back home.

Stopped here to give their pralines a try. They had all different kinds of flavors which was nice and better options than Aunt Sally's next door in my opinion. But I didnt enjoy the texture and taste as much as I did with Aunt Sally's.

08/10/2011 - 04:31 pm Two days in New Orleans, I've seen plenty of shops with various Pralines(pronounced Prah-leans) which is a sugary Caramel with Pecans(pronounced Peck-ons). I wasn't much interested in getting a taste but Evans seemed quite open spacious shop along French Market, one of which I felt comfortable walking around without feeling my bag might knockdown a whole slew of Tourist overpriced knik-knaks. In many shops, please walk with caution possibly knocking over handle-with-care items.Rum Creamy Praline($1.90)Candied Nuts, Yum! Soft-ish non-brittle-like creamy caramel confection. More alongs the soft melt-in-your-mouth consistency of Fudge than the hard crisp that it looks like. I did wish that the Pecans stood out more but eating sugar is always easy and I wouldn't mind more RUM either.Surprisingly not as sweet as I imagine the candy would be and a smile/service from the Girl staff would be even sweeter. Maybe she was Yelp talking on her Iphone which I wouldn't mind as much being a secondary thought. 2.5'd

Check your health at the door, because Evans is offering a one stop diabeetus shop. All ranting aside , the maple cookies are amazing. These praline shops are a dime a dozen, but this location makes their own products on site - which is a plus. I don't think there is too much to say but I will add that the dessert coffee smells amazing and they will grind it for you.
