Located in the French Quarter, so it's a beautiful walk to the restaurant. The inside is nice and cozy with a large bar. The food portion is very generous and was delicious. They definitely did not skimp on the catfish like they did in another restaurant we went to. We got here late and were on of the few customers on a Friday night. The staff was nice, the service was quick, and the drinks were strong.

This was kinda like a bar and grill. Not a nice restaurant. They do not split checks (even though it was dead), they charge a credit card fee, and they add gratuity. I had the Pasta Evangeline, it was a bit dry but overall okay. The fried catfish and shrimp were nicely fried. The etouffee was very spicy. Could not eat more than 5 bites and we have up.Catfish poor boy was good. The crab cakes didn't have very much crab, mostly filling. The okra was really good. The desserts (pecan praline cheesecake and the bananas foster bread pudding) were the stars of the show. The staff brought drinks to the table that we didn't order. Not the best and not the worst. Wouldn't go back for what we paid ($450) for 3 couples dining.

Rustic almost dive bar environment with really good food and service, with mostly creole and Cajun offerings. Close enough to everything in the quarter so it's easy to make a detour and worth checking out. Ordered the crab cakes and the pesto pasta with red fish. Crab cakes had very little filling and loved the sauce. The pesto pasta was fantastic. Great flavor, there were small crawfish tails in it, and who doesn't love red fish. The drink menu is fairly simple but they have everything you're looking for. Really happy we took the time to check it out.

If you want quick service and good food please stop by. The red beans and rice were very satisfying. I inhaled it under 5 minutes. I got the mezcal drink. Unfortunately the flavor did not do well with me. It's an acquired taste. My husband and I sat on the patio in the back. Very nice. The bananas foster/pudding melted in my mouth. I took it to go and ate it back at the room. So delicious. A good spot to hang with friends or date night.

What a great find, very cute restaurant! Had a. Excellent brunch here, food was tremendous! Not a huge fan of the beverage offerings, but that was more driven by taste. Service was prompt and friendly and the pricing was on point with what was expected. Gluten free offerings were on the menu and absolutely delicious! We will be back

I recently visited Evangeline's with my mom and aunt, and while it used to be one of my top places to eat in New Orleans, we were disappointed this time around. Pre-COVID, the food was incredible, but our recent experience left much to be desired. The ambiance, however, is still one of the restaurant's highlights. The decor inside is beautiful, creating a cozy yet refined atmosphere that makes it a lovely spot for a meal. Unfortunately, it was raining during our visit, so we couldn't sit on their patio, which is one of the best in the city. I've dined there before, and the outdoor seating adds so much charm to the experience, making it perfect for a warm day or evening. As for the food, the jambalaya lacked flavor and was extremely light on seasoning. The gumbo was decent but didn't stand out compared to others we tried in the city. The crab cakes, which used to be crispy with a delicious sauce and salsa, were a letdown this time around--no crisp and half the sauce. The red beans and rice, while flavorful, were not served warm enough.Despite the food, the service was excellent. The host was welcoming, and the bartender was attentive and gracious, explaining wines and making great entrée suggestions. The staff definitely deserves a 10/10, but the food sadly only rates 5/10.

A bar with adequate table seating with a very quaint and cozy vibe. We sat at the bar- yes the skeleton in the chair next to me was a silent dinner partner! Service was professional and responsive in this welcoming place. We tried the fried alligator which was like chicken with the consistency of calamari- pretty tasty. I tried the "Evangeline original and featured on the Food Network!" Acadia Crawfish and grits and was disappointed. Made like a rich soup or stew it was loaded with onions, celery and peppers but I spent the meal searching for the tiny crawfish in the bowl. The crab cakes were a good portion, tasty, though bready. Suggest you read others' reviews and pick some other dishes. 3.5 Stars

This is a nice location within the French quarter. The result:One bartender for the entire restaurant on a Saturday night. She was amazing, but there needed to be more support. Waited 50 minutes for the food to arrive lukewarm Ordered chucked sausage gumbo and there were zero pieces of chicken. Cute spot, just needs more employee support. This way patrons aren't waiting almost an hour for their meals. Bartender:

I drove in from Mobile, Alabama for dinner. I specifically called ahead to make sure I got a table because I saw that not only did it have gluten-free marked on their menu, people on Google Maps said that their celiac family was able to safely eat here. I came in by myself while my husband looked for parking. Before being seated, I asked the same guy who took my order if their menu had Gluten-free options because I have celiac disease. He said yes, their menu had gluten-free options. I sat at a 2 person table with water and my husband called and told me to just order to-go because he couldn't find parking for less than $35. I told the waiter that my husband couldn't park so that I needed to put in a to-go order. I said that I would like the $18.95 chicken and sausage jambalaya and to please make sure it's gluten-free. Also, I would like to order the non-gluten-free bowl of red beans and rice ($14.95) for my husband.I didn't notice if the waiter wrote down my order but surprise, surprise, when I got my order, it was bagged up so I didn't see until I untied the bag and unpacked it, we didn't get the correct food. We ended up with what I thought was jambalaya and red beans and rice where they forgot to add the red beans over the rice. My husband immediately asked why the containers weren't even half way filled. I thought they honestly forgot part of our order but there was no way to circle back to the restaurant thanks to a parade. Because I ordered the chicken and shrimp gumbo, and it was $18.95, and it said it was cooked in stock, I assumed the dish that looked soupy and had chicken and sausage in it was my gluten-free jambalaya. Surely the pile of rice with a few pieces of sausage wasn't an $18.95 dish. I ate it. Surprise, it was the NOT GLUTEN-FREE gumbo that we didn't even order. I only figured it out when I didn't feel well and we compared photos on Yelp to what we ordered. Nothing like getting glutened as someone with celiac disease at a restaurant you deliberately picked because they can supposedly accommodate your medical dietary need.My husband was annoyed that his supposed red beans and rice was just rice and sausage without the red beans until we compared it to photos and realized it was an absolute rip-off as that was actually the $18.95 chicken and sausage jambalaya. My husband said there was maybe one piece of chicken in it which is why he didn't recognize it as the chicken and sausage jambalaya. If a restaurant is going to have a marked menu to cater for a medical dietary restriction (gluten-free is a designation the FDA came up with for celiacs to safely navigate menus and food packages) then they need to be serious about taking precautions. First line of precautions is WRITING DOWN ORDERS. Second line of precautions is labeling what food in a to-go box is the gluten-free dish. You could end up killing someone being this negligent with special orders. And yes, I'm writing this review from the bathroom of my hotel at 2 AM. Thanks a lot for the gluten. I didn't get what I ordered, what I did order was so chintzy looking that neither my husband nor I would imagine a cup of rice and a few slices of kielbasa would be nearly $20, I got glutened when I specifically came here for safe food, the parking situation is untenable for anyone who isn't a hotel guest in the French Quarter. Came here last week to grab takeout prior to hitting the road out of New Orleans. My wife has celiac and needs to eat gluten-free and asked the server to make sure. She then ordered the jambalaya marked gluten-free on the menu, and I opted for red beans & rice. The order came in a tied up black bag, and we paid and left. It wasn't until we left that we realized the order was incorrect after comparing it to other photos online. By that point, she had already eaten what apparently was gumbo and not jambalaya, which is not gluten-free. She was sick for about 2-3 days. Check your order and bill prior to leaving or paying, as this restaurant couldn't seem to get any of it right when we came. Our order was wrong, and we didn't receive the correct items that we had ordered. It shouldn't be the customer's job to double-check that it's done correctly. We won't be back, not recommended!!
