My girlfriends and I signed up for the walking tour and I was very excited about it. I'm so glad that we did because it was really fun and informative. Our tour guide really knew her information and she was able to answer questions that we had about the different locations and the people mentioned on the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting or native to New Orleans.

Katie is AMAZING! Me and three friends came to New Orleans for a weekend and took the Madame tour - she started by asking what we were most interested in learning about and catered the tour to us. She's super passionate about the history of sex work - which came across super clear through her storytelling. Totally recommend anyone who loves history or women's studies to take this tour!!

We went on the Madams of New Orleans walking tour. The starting location (Upper Quarter bar) is super convenient for anyone staying in the French Quarter, as we were. Our guide, Katie, was there promptly and off we went. A tour about the history of sex work has the potential to be salacious and tacky, but Katie's tour was very engaging and informative, focusing on the history of the vice section in the city (Storyville) and the role prostitution played in the city's founding and development, as well as some in-depth profiles of famous Madams.Katie is a great guides, she paces the tour very well is a great story teller, very personable and witty. The tour also makes a stop at a bar along the way, for those of us who like our history with a to-go cup.Highly recommended! Once you've done one vampire tour, you've done them all, so definitely book this tour for something unique and different.

The Madam's of New Orleans tour is, by far, the best tour I've been on since moving to New Orleans! Katie did a phenomenal job guiding the group through the city, sharing lots of knowledge, offering book and movie suggestions and taking the time to answer questions. It was clear that she'd put in a lot of effort into the research, which made the tour really worthwhile. The group I was with had some rowdy/intoxicated people who would sometimes make rude comments or interrupt Katie, and she handled it like a pro, smoothing those interruptions over (which helped me and my friends a lot, since we were annoyed with the outbursts!)I would highly, highly recommend going on any Ella Tours walking adventure, because you will definitely have a fun, relaxed, informational tour that will leave you wanting more.

This was a great, informative tour. Found out many things that are not in the history books. Guide weaved the stories as she showed us the historic sites. Made you feel like you were right in the middle of the action. Only hiccup is that I had purchased a Groupon for the "African American-History Walking Tour" and the tour ended up being "Madam's of New Orleans Tour". At first I was a little disappointed, but ended up being thoroughly satisfied. The walking portion is not too strenuous. Only mention this because some may be put off thinking they cannot physically handle this tour. The guide stopped frequently to give us information so the walk can be easily managed by most.

I'm a native New Orleanian and I've been on several walking tours through the years when friends come to visit. Katie's, Madam's of New Orleans Storyville and Beyond, walking tour is by far the best I've ever been on. The amount of research she has done and her storytelling ability is incredible. I could listen to her talk for hours. The walking isn't unbearable and there are plenty of opportunities to sit. I highly recommend this tour for locals and tourists!

Katie is a terrific storyteller - and her stories are true!My friend and I went on the Yesterday's Girlfriend tour, and we learned more (and had more fun!) than on any other tour we took. I love walking tours and this is easily the best one I've taken.Katie is super friendly and willing to answer any questions, and she's done tons of research into the women who helped shape New Orleans. She also recommended a few books in case we wanted to learn more on our own. The tour is really enlightening, but at the same time, Katie has a true knack for telling a tale.Katie's tours are one of the first things I'd recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans. We look forward to taking the Madams of New Orleans tour whenever we go back!

OK--I've never written a review for yelp, but no time like the present.Katie, our tour guide, delivered an engaging and informative tour of the madam business in New Orleans, with a focus on Storyville. I imagine she can bring out the history geek lurking in just about anyone. After the tour, my daughter and I spent the evening googling the names of the politicians and madams who had so much to do the the economics of this fair city. She balances fair with fabulous, and seems to have a great deal of respect for her focus.Additionally, the the walking part is doable for folks in any kind of shape--no great territory covered, with a built in break at May Bailey's. Lovely.
