El Tampico

The food is good. BUT.... They definitely need to learn about the timing of table service. More than once have I been there with groups when all the food came out at different times; it was bad. As in, three people were almost done eating their meals before two others got their food even brought out to the table. Most restaurants, if they have dishes that take 5 minutes to prepare and another dish that takes 10 minutes... well, they'll start on the 10 minute dish and then 5 minutes later start the 5 minute dishes, then all the food can be served at the same time so you don't have a table full of awkward people waiting on each other while food gets cold. El Tampico needs to fix this issue, then it will be much nicer to bring groups of people there. As it is, I've heard people say they don't want to go there with groups specifically because of that. I hope they fix that issue.

What a great spot. The only reason it didn't get five stars is due to the interior decor being a bit bland and not fitting for a great authentic place. I arrived late from a long day of travel and work and was pleased to find the place still open after 9 pm. A wonderfully pleasant waitress took care of me and the kitchen promptly delivered Shrimp Fajitas sizzling and satisfying. A great find for a weary traveler. I recommend this place for sure.

This is my any my wife's new favorite spot in East Houma. A hidden gem of deliciousness! The service is above average and the atmosphere is relaxing. Although I haven't tried them yet, my wife claims the barbacoa tacos are to die for. I've had the fajitas mixtas and the California steak burrito and they were both very good. The burrito is my favorite so far. If I had to say one negative thing it's that they don't have margaritas yet (not sure if they have a liquor license yet) and the music is kind of loud. It makes it a little difficult to have a conversation with the acoustics, but overall a delightful little place for a lunch or dinner date.

I ordered take out based on great reviews. Disappointed at best, but I believe every place deserves a second chance. The food remained mediocre, but to be fair, I got a loaded fajita steak salad with extra guac both times. That's my go to easy dinner, and both of these missed the mark. For $15, I should feel like I ate something. But after picking out all the brown lettuce, there wasn't much left. The fajita steak made great beef jerky though!

This is not a Tex-Mex kinda place. This is authentic Mexican. It's delicious, well seasoned but not spicy. A rather large menu for a mom n pop kind of place. The menu excludes photos which may help you chose what you want.

The shrimp quesadillas were overstuffed and delicious. The waitress was pleasant, but oddly, I ordered the beef fajitas and it came covered with cut up sausage (which is a no-no for me)... I asked the waitress to replace it as I don't eat that and it wasn't in the picture on the menu nor in the description. She did bring me another dish, but charged for both which I think was pretty crappy.

Fantastic, authentic Mexican cuisine. Extensive menu, very well priced and delicious.
