I had the chance to take a cooking class with Chef Dee and her team and it was an amazing experience. We made Jambalaya and bread pudding which came out delicious. Chef Dee was so helpful and encouraging to everyone no matter their cooking experience. She told us she is the 2nd black woman in New Orleans to own a cooking school and she does the work to bring light to other woman in the history of culinary in New Orleans. This was an amazing class and I look forward to attending another one again.

This class was the highlight of our early December trip to New Orleans. My husband and I attended the cooking class and it was phenomenal. Our class had about 12 participants from all over the globe. Chef Dee and her sister Candy had us laughing as they taught us how to make tomato & okra stew, jambalaya, and bananas foster (the best I've ever had). We had so much fun learning about Chef Dee's journey to find her passion and the food was divine. My husband even got a chance to show off his knife skills while grating a nutmeg (teacher's pet lol). We got a chance to tour the museum and buy local craft beers from the oldest bar in the city there. Overall I would highly recommend everyone add this class to your next New Orleans trip. Your belly and soul will thank you!

Was a great day learning how to create jambalaya and bananas foster. We learned about okra and how to prevent slime! Museum is interesting and you will learn a lot about absinthe!

This was one of the highlights of my trips to New Orleans. I was greeted warmly by Dee's husband and started with a champagne toast! Then we were taken into the instruction room, which was absolutely beautiful, and I love the ambience. It was set up great for a large group, so I highly recommend you taking your family or friends to this amazing experience. In the front of the room. there was a television that would show Dee's instruction as she explained each step! The best way to immerse yourself in a city, is to learn about the food they cook to share with their own friends and family!

Incredible Experience!Chef Dee gave an amazing, hands on presentation on what Creole cooking should be and more. She is an amazing tour guide through the classic dishes of the area. A must try for anyone interested in cooking and learning the proper ways to represent NOLA in your cooking.

Super fun afternoon spent with Chef Dee. She is warm and encouraging, giving such positive vibes you can't help but feel happy. A very hands on experience. The students were measuring, chopping and cooking under the supervision her supervision and that of her Sous Chef. The class was full so we were interacting with about 8 other people but we were a spirited group. We made Tomato and Okra, Chicken Andouille Sausage Jambalaya and the BEST Banana Fosters I have ever had. Chef Dee even supervised 2 brave students willing to flambe' the bananas in Rum. While we were waiting for everything to simmer they had us sit on the oldest bar in NOLA for drinks, the museum director told us the history of NOLA and the difference between Cajun and Creole food. This part was awesome. You can definitely tell the lesson was crafted with someone who did a lot of research who was able to summarize the long history of the area in to a concise story. Then they took us around the small local museum with displays of notable local food notes. As we completed touring was were served are meal. The food was delicious and Dee told us how she became a chef. I would recommend the experience as I felt the knowledge they shared gave be a greater appreciation of the food and culture of the area. I am not sure if JUST the museum is worth the trip out there if you are short on days or times but with the class was a great component.
