We had such a wonderful stay at Dauphine House B & B. Comfortable bed and linens, spacious bath and wonderful continental breakfast. The owner offers hospitality beyond compare and great tourism advice as well. The location is great just a 3 minute walk to Frenchmen Street and about 5 minutes to the action in the French Quarter, but you are away from the noise and craziness. You can't beat Karen's place.

I wish I could rate this 10 stars! Many, many years ago, a friend and I found Dauphine House B&B, and stayed there a couple of times over Thanksgiving. Karen was so sweet and accomodating and everything was clean and gorgeous. Fast forward about 20 years, and I have moved from WA state, to Memphis, and my friend from back home is coming in for my birthday, and we are "touring" some southern states. I knew I wanted to stay at Dauphine House, but was worried it wouldn't be owned by the same person. I was so pleased to find out it was still Karen! She is so nice, and provides a breakfast basket with bananas and muffins, water in the fridge, and there is a Keurig in the room. She even provides real plates, silverware, cups and glasses. We decided not to have her provide the breakfast basket, we decided to be "sinful" and eat breakfast at Cafe Du Monde each morning. She also provides you with a detailed, color coded map of the quarter, and a little booklet of things to see, places to eat, things to be careful about, etc. The location is so close to everything. You turn a corner, and cross the street... BOOM you are on Bourbon Street. The house is so quiet, you don't hear any street noise, and it is so clean. I know I mentioned that previously, but that is really important for me. It is a beautifully decorated old New Orleans home, and I would recommend for anyone to stay. You will not be sorry! You will be enchanted!

Again we had the best time staying here! My husband swears it is one of the best beds he has ever slept in! The mini cinnamon rolls and red velvet cupcakes are to die for... The location is great because it is close to Frenchman Street and Bourbon Street. But the best feature of course is the owner Karen! She seriously is the nicest lady I have ever met. Whatever you need she will either get it you, or tell you how or where to get it. This is our spot to stay whenever we are in NOLA!!

Karen was awesome. She did everything to make our stay here comfortable. From a very detailed intro to New Orleans, a breakfast basket (and coffee, tea and orange juice) and even printing out our boarding passes for us, she was the best. The house is located close enough to the French quarter that we were able to walk there every day. Comfy bed and soft sheets. Bathroom is a little small in the room we stayed in, so if you're a large person, you might have some trouble. I'd definitely recommend this place for a nice weekend in New Orleans. Oh, and eat at Atchafalaya! Best shrimp and grits ever!

The Dauphine House and it's owner Karen Jefferies, are exactly what every BnB should be like and what every hostess or host who owns and runs a sucessful BnB should be like. We spent four nights there last week and it was by far, THE best BnB we've ever stayed at in terms of hospitality and comfort (and we've stayed in a few fine BnB's.)Long before we arrived, Karen kept in contact with us via phone and email. She asked if we didn't mind sharing our travel itnerary so she would know when to expect us and was a fountain of knowledge about NOLA.She only has three rooms to let and we stayed in the center one, or the purple room. It was always quiet, the room was spotless and every morning Karen came in to tidy up, refresh the tp and towels and refill the goody basket. Look at the other pics that folks have posted and you will see the set up for the rooms. There is street parking and Karen will give you a pass to post inside your windshield to keep the cops from ticketing you. These is a little table outside where you can have your coffee, free wi-fi and a small tv which we didn't even look at once.We even asked if we could use her washer to run a small load of clothes because we had run out of undies and she graciously allowed us to use hers and "No, don't buy detergent, I have lots." WOW!!! I felt like I was home and our stay was the icing on the cake to our visit in NOLA.Please be aware thought that unlike SoCal where we are from, not everything is handicapped accessible and that goes for the Dauphine. Our bathroom was lovely but a tight squeeze for two rather rotund grandparents but if you are slim and trip, well, you'll have no problem! The steps to get inside are fairly steep as are most steps all over NOLA.There is a small fridge and you would be wise to keep plenty of water in there to hydrate yourselves. We were fairly close to Bourbon Street but as Karen suggested, taking a cab is cheap and quick and saves you at the end of a hot day.I know it's off season because of the hellacious weather, but her prices the use of her beautiful BnB are out of control!I hope I didn't miss anything but Karen if you see this...my husband and I will be forever greatly for all your help, great advice, kindness and generousity and of course your beautiful home.

I chose the Marigny as the area for the first part of my New Orleans trip, as we wanted something "real", and close to the music on Frenchman Street and to everything else. Just so you know that the area is, as a fellow reviewer on another site told me, a little "gritty". I liked it! I will stay there again, and most likely for my whole trip. I looked over all the reviews in the area, and as it was Thanksgiving, I had a challenging time finding a place for all of us, for the days we wanted to stay, and then someone told me about Karen and The Dauphine House. I checked the reviews, tortured the wonderful Karen a bit by email, and booked it. Karen is a treat! She is bright, sunny, and so kind and easy going. The Dauphine House was like living in New Orleans. We came and went like we lived there. The rooms are in the bottom part of the house, and Karen is just a call away upstairs. She let us use her washer and dryer, as my Brother is a clean laundry nut, which was so helpful. Our room, the plummy hued one, connected to my Brother's room, which was great, as, well, we're family. He had the cool, green room that has the door that leads right out to the street. Well, I let him have it! We had everything we needed-lots of fresh towels, a place to sit and eat, a microwave, a refrigerator with orange juice and pastry if you wanted it, coffee maker with coffee, tea, etc... In that way, it's not a traditional b&b, but you will find it that way in a lot of the bed and breakfasts in NOLA. We ate a full breakfast every morning at The Cake Cafe. It's walkable. Loved it!Thanks Karen! We had a lovely time, and miss our New Orleans home away from home. AND, we'll be back!

Had a great time in NOLA, Karen was a great host & we enjoyed our stay very much. Loved the recommendations she provided, & the daily morning pastries. Great location near the quarter but in a peaceful neighborhood. I would stay here again for sure, house is a historical pre-civil war house that has all the modern amenities of a modern hotel. If your looking for an intimate stay in a quite neighborhood, give her a call!

What a wonderful B&B! This place makes me want to ALWAYS stay at B&Bs over hotels.Karen was a wonderful host - she was very detailed with what she told us about the B&B and the location, and she was always available via phone or in person. Karen even gave us a free ghost tour with her group that she guides on Sundays. She was super sweet and very accommodating! We had a very clean and tidy room the entire time. Each of the rooms were decorated so well. We had fresh pastries, bananas, and orange juice everyday. The rooms all have refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, utensils, etc. The location is ideal - JUST outside of the French Quarter. Perfect walking distance to anything you want to go to but not in the center of all the noise. The street is just adorable! You really cannot find a better place at a better price. This place is great!

Beautiful place! Absolutely lovely space, location, and host. Delicious continental breakfast is kept stocked. Karen restocks and does general cleanup in the room every day. Which takes away a little responsibility during the stay, for a more enjoyable time.Karen is great at making recommendations, she was available when needed, and generally such a gem. She is truly so accommodating and helpful, Karen puts in above and beyond effort.I highly recommend this location for your next trip to NOLA! You cannot have people to the space if she doesn't know them which is completely understandable. You'll have to find a different place to get together to hangout with folks, that was my only thought as far as what I wasn't completely pleased with. Again, completely understandable though. That's a small piece of the puzzle though.
