Dansereau House is amazing. We love staying and cool old houses when we travel. This is NOT a Holiday Inn. It is not fair to expect a sterile, blank slate environment from a historic home. If you like staying in historic locals this is for you though! We stayed in the Governor's Suite. OMG, the opulence. And it was huge! We have never had such a large room. We've stayed in a lot of cool old places, but agreed this is by far the coolest! We agreed the pnly way we will top it is to return to Ireland, or elsewhere in Europe, and stay in a castle! I do wish the caretaker had been around, but only because I had questions about the house! The room had everything we needed though!

This was my first bed and breakfast experience and it was nice. To be honest, I was a little skeptical because the house is in a really shady looking area and had sort of a haunted house sort of vibe to it. But that's probably because I've never been to a B&B before so I didn't know what to expect. Also the house is historic, including the interior décor. After I got past that, the experience was super cute. The house is grand and lovely. When you walk in, you just want to say, "Wow!" Honestly, the house is maintained pretty well for being super old. In addition, the bridal suite is so majestic. My husband and I didn't stay in that room but when we saw it, it was incredible! It was literally like another house. So beautiful. The bed and pillows in the room we stayed at were comfortable and smelled soooo good. Breakfast the next morning was my favorite part. My husband and I finally got to meet Linda. She is very sweet and a lovely host. The breakfast was adorable: fruit parfait, hashbrown casserole, sausage and egg croissants, fruit, bacon, and cinnamon rolls. We also got to chat and meet the other family that was staying there. It was just a nice start to our morning.

Dansereau is primary a bed and breakfast and the coolest place to stay in Thibodaux. It is a historical home in Thibodaux and has much more charm than one of the chain restaurants. The bar is only open to the public 1-2 nights a week. Currently on Thursday nights they have music, drinks, and a small menu. A good local crowd turns out on these nights and enjoys a nice scenic evening in Thibodaux.

A small hidden gem right here on the bayou. Once a historic residence this elegant home has been converted into a wonderful bed and breakfast. An email from the Dansereau house triggered my latest trip. I once went there as a participant for an art and wine gala fundraiser and was blown away at the ambiance. The email mentioned an upcoming dinner, but what grabbed my attention was an invitation to come and be a guest for the live music, cocktails and appetizers on the Veranda. What more can anyone possibly want when in the South.....The weather was perfect...lots of tables on the lawn. more wrought iron on the Veranda as well as rockers. Although I did not sample the appetizers, many seemed to enjoy the limited selection (under $7.00). The Drinkery is a small bar located inside the Dansereau and it would be equally enjoyable to sit an have an intimate beverage. I'll be heading back anytime that music if offered and one day I'll spend the night in thier bed and breakfast even though it's only 30 minutes from my house....

I was in Thibodeaux for business and was told I should visit The Drinkery, which is the bar that is only open on Thursday's. They had live music and a menu of appetizers and a desert. When I got there I was amazed at how beautiful the house was and figured I could use a change from the Hampton Inn. The new Inn keeper is very nice and extremely interesting. If you are looking for a place to stay in town or a place to go drinking on Thursday night, this is the place.

One of Thibodaux's best kept secrets (even though it isn't a secret!)The Dansereau House is a wonderful historic part of Thibodaux that has been renovated into a Bed & Breakfast with their small bar downstairs known as The Drinkery. The Drinkery is open every Thursday night and gathers some of Thibodaux's finest. With the acoustic music, good wine and mixed drinks, and great Thibodaux natives, The Drinkery is one of my top places to be on a Thursday night. Out-of-Towners are always welcomed by the locals and make friends very easily.During Christmas time, The Dansereau House is completely decorated on the outside with Christmas lights. Mr. Paul, the innkeeper, creates a music and light show every year with the Christmas lights twinkling to a Christmas tune. It is definitely one of Thibodaux's best things to see during the Holidays.Overall, the Dansereau House has a lot to offer. Whether its a wine night, a stay in one of the inn's luxurious rooms, or a history of the beautiful mansion, you are guaranteed a great time with great people.

LOVED the Dansereau House! They were incredibly kind upon our arrival, which was 3 hours later than promised. The night manager was extremely gracious and showed us around their beautifully restored antebellum mansion. The home is truly exquisite and beautifully furnished. Be sure to take time to look at the history room. It is very interesting and informative! The home has an antique elevator, which makes it much easier to get heavy luggage up to your room (especially if you are on the 3rd floor). It is also great for guests that may not be able to climb stairs. We stayed in the Dansereau Suite, which was absolutely beautiful!! It was clean and neat and has a gorgeous King size bed! The bathroom is large in size and was also very clean. We had delicious chocolate chip cookies and bottled water awaiting us in our room. The inn is very quiet and we slept incredibly well. The linens are of high quality and very soft and the bed was so comfortable! The evening of our arrival we sat on the upstairs porch and rocked away while listening to the crickets and frogs. We caught the scent of jasmine in the air as well. SO relaxing! After a great night's sleep, we awoke to the smells of an incredible breakfast. There was an amazing quiche as well as a great selection of baked goods (all of them YUMMY)!. There was also bacon, sausage, fruits, cereals, OJ, and milk. The coffee was hot, delicious, and plentiful. We left with happy, full bellies. This is truly a gem in Thibodaux and not a far drive from all of the plantations on, and around, the River Road. Be sure to get here in time for a fantastic seafood dinner nearby at Spahr's! (a very short walk from Dansereau House). We will most definitely be back on our next trip to Louisiana!

Overlooked gem in Thibodaux! I've never been to a bed and breakfast, but I have a feeling this is not the norm! The hostess is so very sweet and our room is incredible. I feel like I've stepped back in time - call me Scarlett! Conveniently located - especially if you are in town for Nicholls State :) Thank you for recommending this beautiful mansion @ Nicholls State. Why stay at a chain when you can stay here for the same price!

We went to the innaugural Wine Dinner at The Dansereau House last night. Every part of it was fantastic! From the food to the wine to the atmosphere. I'm almost hesitant to talk about it for fear of them booking up too quickly for the next Wine Dinner! We had a simply fabulous time! The musical entertainment on the porch before had was the perfect start to our evening. The Drinkery (the bar in the back, open only Wednesdays and Thursdays) is intimate yet quite enjoyable. We had a pre-dinner drink there.Sign up early for the next Wine Dinner as I'm sure they'll sell out fast!
