I absolutely love this place, and I'm writing this review on the condition that you don't book all the rooms when I have a chance to go back to NOLA.My boyfriend and I went for a major holiday last year. The regular hotels were filling up fast, and were really expensive. We were debating spending money on a hotel room that had an extra queen bed we didn't even need just so we could guarantee ourselves a place to stay. Then we found out about the Crescent City Guest House. It had everything we wanted: walking distance to the French Quarter, VERY reasonable rates, comfortable rooms, and free off-street parking (a rarity in NOLA!). It also had things we didn't even know we wanted: holiday-themed Mardi Gras beads set out on the bed, a common room with enough information on the city to keep us busy the entire time, friendly owners, a fridge with juice and bagels for any time of day, and a beautifully-landscaped backyard where we relaxed or had a cigarette after a long day of walking. I can easily say I felt more comfortable staying there than basically anywhere else I have stayed. And when I can, I plan on going right back.

Easily the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Private, quiet, spacious and clean. I stayed in New Orleans for 8 days and felt like a home away from home. Matt and Lynn were available, approachable, friendly and there if you needed anything and otherwise left guests to an independent stay. The shared living area of the 4 guest rooms was well stocked with tourist pamphlets, things to do tips, books on New Orleans and even Mardi Gras beads. The kitchen was always well stocked with bagels, juice, cereal and fresh fruit. My private room was large, AC, high quality linens and towels, toiletries, cable TV and free wifi. Lovely back yard and very secure and safe. The B&B was also on a pick up route for a swamp tour and was close to Frenchman St, and nearby Bywater for local restaurants, cafes, bars. A 5-10 minute walk up Royal St and you were in the French Quarter to all the action. As a single female traveler, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in New Orleans and I'm already plotting my return. Thanks for the perfect place to call home while I explored the enchanting Crescent City. Jill

Crescent City Guest House is a wonderful place to stay. The hosts Lynn and Matt are charming and have thought of everything to make your stay delightful. The whole place is immaculate, inside and out. There is a common room with all kinds of good eats, brochures on things to do and see, a bowl of umbrellas, anything you might need. The bedroom was spacious as was the bathroom and kept neat as a pin. They have decorated in bright fun colors with lots of art and pottery. The super secure yard was lush and also full of art and little places to hang out. But most of all Lynn and Matt are genuine nice guys, very accommodating, and very welcoming. We can't wait to stay here again! Thank you- Betsy and David

My husband and I just got back from a week in New Orleans at the Crescent City Guest House and what a lovely stay we had!First, let me say that the hosts Matt & Lynn are so welcoming, resourceful and the house is stocked as if you were at home! The house is in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks off of Frenchman Street. It's a great place to walk from and comforting to come back to after a long day in the French Quarter! The house is a remodeled shotgun style house with - 3 guest rooms. Each room is nicely decorated with New Orleans flair. Each room is spacious with tall ceilings, large bathrooms. The common room is a big comfortable spaced living room with a dinner table for 4, a coz couch and chair and also includes a kitchenette counter with a sink. The fridge is stocked with breakfast goodies, juice and filtered water. Like I said they pretty much set you up with everything and anything you may need; maps, historic books, sunscreen, umbrellas, foot massager, cups-to-go and more! The backyard is my favorite and that's because Matt is a green thumb! It has many unique tropical plants, flowers and fruit trees, along with a pond and a few water fountains. You might get a glimpse of a few monarch butterflies! There are also, at least 4 sitting areas to the backyard, so you can have privacy under cover or out in the sunshine. I really loved this place. It was more than perfect for us! Hope to return again some day!p.s. The weather in October and November is gorgeous!

Damn! I wasn't the first to give Matt and Lynn of the Crescent City Guest House a glowing review. I just got back from a conference in New Orleans and much to my surprise, ended up staying at a great and gay place in the Marigny, the Crescent City Guest House. First off, the house is perfect. Lovingly restored by its owners, it's a quaint piece of air-conditioned comfort in a hot and humid town. Part Golden Girls, part Gone with the Wind, the rooms are decorated, spacious and comfortable. We also had free wi-fi, cable, a fridge stocked with continental breakfast supplies (fresh fruit, juices, milk, bagels and cream cheese) and a coffee maker that was prepped for us each morning. All we had to do was push start. Nice touch, Matt. And the location. Seriously. Marigny is a great area and in my opinion the best place to stay. We got to hit up the French Quarter as tolerated but found ourselves enjoying the more local live music scene on Frenchman's Street each night. The Riverfront trolley runs frequently to the convention center and it picks up at the end of Esplanade by the French Market. It's about a 6 minute walk to the station. Not that anyone was timing it.I want to go back when I don't have to worry about getting up in the morning. Not that it kept me from hanging at the Apple Barrel or Friendly's. But if you're going to the Big Easy and need a place to stay, I highly recommend the Crescent City Guest House. Great rates, amazing hosts, tons of clean towels, private bathrooms, a hot tub out back with a great yard and pets are welcome too.

Had a great weekend getaway at CCGH...house, room, and the gardens were exceptional. Water feature right outside our bedroom window was a lovely bonus.Owner Matt welcomed us in and was extremely accommodating, and the serve-yourself-anytime breakfast and snacks were a perfect fit for our laissez-faire NOLA schedule. Most outstanding was the location and value - great, great, great! Easy home base from which to explore the French Quarter and also get a taste of the 'real' New Orleans' from the artsy Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods. Loved it, and will definitely re-book when we make our way back to the Big Easy.

There's no way we would stay anywhere but the Crescent City Guest House when we come to New Orleans for Jazzfest every year. Situated just past the craziness of the French Quarter, the CCGH is in the heart of the Marigny and just two blocks from the great live music venues on Frenchman street. It's the kind of place you stay when you want to be near everything, but love peace & quiet when it's time to sleep!Matt and Lyn are incredibly hospitable and organized hosts who are attuned to your every need. If you forgot to bring something, they probably already have whatever it is that you need in the house. And he's a great source of information for the city and surrounding area. He definitely goes WAY above and beyond to make your stay fabulous. As an example, whenever we arrive for our annual visit, the fridge is stocked with Tropicana orange juice and Diet Coke with Splenda. They actually remember our preferences down to the smallest detail, and make sure they deliver what we want! How fantastic is that!!??The guest house is comprised of a common living/dining room with a stocked fridge (juices, bagels, breads, jams, milk, water, fruit, etc), cupboards stocked with cereals & other foods, a dining table, sofa, recliner, and lots of videos, books and other reading materials. There are two private bedrooms (with private baths) on each side of the common room. Outside.. a hot tub and patio/garden area. Pets are welcome. And free wireless internet!

What an amazing place! Super comfy and clean and the hosts Matthew and Lynn think of all the little details to make you feel at home (really, they provide us things like umbrellas when it's raining and microwave popcorn if you want to watch a movie). It is also super super super close to Frenchmen Street and French Quarter, but without all the noise and the crazyness of these places.

Dear Matt,Thank you so much for a perfect stay. We chose your place because of its convenience and were delighted with the accommodations. It was clean and comfortable, and we met three nice couples who were staying there at the same time, although it was so quiet, no one was disturbed. We did have a peek at your lovely garden and came away with some great ideas we can use at home! Thanks again.Sincerely, Danny and Irene

We had a very comfortable stay at Crescent City Guest House. It is a lovely historic home in quiet Marigny which is walking distance to the French Quarter and minutes from Frenchmen Street. The friendly owners, Lynn and Matt, answered any questions I had regarding restaurants, tours, etc. before we even got there. They provided the convenience of breakfast food, fruit and drinks all day as well as umbrellas, toiletries, robes, tourist booklets, etc. We highly recommend their guest house to anyone who visits New Orleans.
