My family and I stayed at The Eliza Jane 2 weeks ago, just for the weekend. We were very excited to try New Orleans food. For my surprise Couvant exceeded my expectations, I was not expecting to be more excited to eat every single meal there, rather then go out and try some local food (we ended up trying a few places) We ate both breakfast and dinners at Couvant, we just didn't want to miss out on anything. The menu is not extensive, but you get to choose from a variety of dishes. For breakfast I recommend the Pain Perdu, which is French toast but made to another level, the bread was perfectly toasted, with a nutty flavor, the strawberry coulis had a balanced sweetness and acidity to it, with cool whipped cream to balance out the tart, and fresh strawberries and blueberries to finish off. If you're not on the sweet side, Eggs Benedict are amazing. For dinner I highly recommend the confit de canard, the duck was cooked to perfection, it just fell apart! It comes with a triple cream blue cheese that goes so good in contrast with the duck and candied orange. We tried the Boeuf Bourguignon, the flavor was spot on but I felt it needed more sauce. The waiters were very friendly, but respectful, they made us feel very comfortable at all times. The french decor of the place elevates the whole experience. We left New Orleans very pleased.
