The shrimp were huge. It was a fair price and they have a wide variety of fresh seafood.

1 because 0 is not an option. My family has used this store quite frequently in the past. Their fresh seafood (we have only ordered lived blue crab and crawfish) is always nice, inexpensive, and a very good size. My husband or my brother are the ones that usually pick up the seafood so up until this last, may I add, final visit, I had never met the owners. The place is a smail converted produce market. Seafood is a huge money maker in South Lousisiana so I guess the produce just wasn't cutting the mustard for them. The market itself is pretty run down but you can't expect to cop good fresh seafood at a reasonable price in a palace. Upon entering the place of business I am greeted by the rudest Asian lady I have ever met in my entire life! "What you want" is her greeting. I'm guessing by the huge sign acknowledging acceptance of EBT and the decor, she gets some pretty ratchet characters in the place. So I let that slide for the moment. I advised her that I was looking for at least 5 sacks of live crawfish and would like to know the pricing. She proceeds to continue with the funk tude and asks "When you want them for, different price, u pay with card?" I respond I would like to purchase now and questioned the reason for different price. She continues with "diferrent price depend on how you pay." I question this once again, so if I have EBT the product will be tax free right? Funk tude"NO DIFFERENT PAY DIFFERENT PRICE. YOU NO BUY YOU LEAVE" I graciously took her up on her offer by advising her that I will take my green money and spend it elsewhere and that not ALL black ppl use EBT cards! Her husband followed me to my car and was very apologetic but not in front of her...I guess she has his kahonas in a vice grip.

We've bought many sacks of crawfish from Courville's Seafood in Port Allen, but today was the last time that will ever happen.Roughly an hour after picking up a sack from them, we started cleaning and picking out the dead ones... And kept picking out more dead ones. Almost half of the sack was dead. The only thing worse than paying for dead crawfish is HORRIBLE customer service when notifying the seller of the situation. Lexi called Courville's since this is very unlike what we are used to receiving from them. She was told that since it's been over 30 minutes, it's our fault that half of the sack is dead. Lexi explained that the crawfish were kept correctly, asked if she could bring the crawfish back for replacement or refund, and was told no. She let Courville's know we will no longer purchase any crawfish from them and ended the call. After about 10 minutes, Courville's called back because they "didn't want to leave the situation as they did" and offered to give her an extra 10-15 pounds the next time she buys a sack, as a replacement for the dead ones today.Had the conversation of the second call happened during the first call, I probably wouldn't be writing this. I can get over being sold bad product, but I can't get over the horrible customer service Lexi was given.

Needed live crawfish. Courville's was close and handled my needs. Crawfish were fresh and lively. Even bought fresh catfish. Friendly and excellent customer service. Headed back soon!

Five stars because they always have fresh local shrimp. Despite being near the heart of the shrimping industry, very few places in Baton Rouge (close to LSU and downtown), offer fresh gulf shrimp. I only buy shrimp here as there is typically not much else for sale. Sometimes they have crawfish and crabs.
