As an actual courtyard located in the heart NOLA, Courtyard Grill is a multifaceted al fresco dining venue that deserves a look for anyone who hasn't been. While there are a lot of highlights, there's certainly a share of some lowlights as well.A few things that that merit a thumbs up:* The ambiance: On a perfect weather night with good company, this place is right up there with some of the best outdoor setups one could ask for. It's a bit of an outdoor oasis, which makes it an easy but often times, overlooked target.* The entertainment: Whether it's a live band, DJ, or some kind of entertainment act, it's usually fairly top notch. It's usually best on a weekend night, but I've seen some pretty solid stuff here even on the school nights.* The location: It is as central as it gets when it comes to the French Quarter. This is one of the most happening parts of the city and they're in the thick of it.* Drinks: Want to get sloshed while on Bourbon? This place can make that happen. The not-so-fun stuff:* The food probably had its heydey many years ago. It hasn't been good for years and that's across the menu board. Many of their fried items (pickles, chicken fingers, etc.) are a major gamble and the more classic things such as red beans and rice, gumbos, etc. are mediocre. While the burgers / po'boys seem like safe bets, they're also not that great. I would strongly caution anyone coming here for food.* Service is everything sometimes. And here, it's almost non-existent. Unless one is being served drinks directly from a bartender, the rest of the wait staff is either too busy to help or too overwhelmed by the lack of help. They're slow to react and can make / break the experience in a big way. Sadly it's been much of the latter.* The level of obnoxious patrons can be a lot sometimes. Whether it's people shouting from the second level during mardi gras or a group of rowdy peeps just going nuts while folks are trying to eat / enjoy the space can be a lot sometimes. TLDR: DBaggery is big time on Bourbon St but that also permeates this place too.* I realize much of could be noted for the main venue, Bourbon Heat (https://www.yelp.com/biz/bourbon-heat-new-orleans-3) but at some point, it's all the same thing. The Courtyard is probably the nicest part of the entire venue, which is no exaggeration.

Five stars for the awesome and super lively staff. About 3 stars for the food. I expected a little more for the gumbo but it wasn't bad. The live band on Sunday was on point. We where able to bring our drinks in from next door and we ordered standard drinks. Nice spot during the day to take a break.

This place gets 5 stars for service and the relaxing courtyard to tucked off overwhelming Bourbon Street. Like a tiny oasis back there with the shade and the fairy lights. Walk straight back and grab a table if there are anyOrdered the pain killer and the watermelon Rita- they were out of watermelon so 2nd choice: Love Potion Martini- both were good and worth the $ on Bourbon street- Tipsy enough to order the beignet funnel cake just for fun ;)Again, service is always good here and vibes are rollin

Baaaaabbbbyy listen! This place is a hidden gem and slept on. Atmosphere - Bomb, Live Music, Nice Drinks and if you want to smoke you can. Food - y'all if I could've brought this meal home 10X over I would've. It was sooo favorable so good! Exactly what I was looking for in New Orleans! Staff - AMAZING! They gave me hope in the New Orleans people! We had encountered a lot of people with attitudes but they seemed overworked. Not here they seem to truly enjoy their job.

Yuck! This place is disgusting! The most horrible experience, we settled to have a cocktail and small plates while listening to the live music coming from the bar, when all of the sudden a fat but very fast rat scurried across the ground; the rat then climbed and ran very precariously along the railing on the second floor!!! When our waitress approached I mentioned it and she nonchalant replied that it was okay! Keeping an eye on the upstairs railing we spotted a few more of these creatures as we hurried to get away!

We almost didn't go in because it's so busy on Bourbon Street. We didn't intend to go there at all. It was a Thursday night and we were just asking around and looking for some good bar food. A lot of the oyster houses had super long lines and we didn't want to wait. We went in about 9pm and although the kitchen was technically closed, the appetizer menu was still available. It's just what we needed! We ordered garlic Parmesan chicken tenders and they were fresh, hot, and tasty. The tenders were much bigger than I was expecting. The price was reasonable and our service was pretty good.

Do yourself a favor a do not visit this place. The best thing from our lunch was a bottled beer (that we had to wait for for about 20 minutes) I ordered bbq chicken. Came out cold and extremely over cooked. Didn't eat it. Jambalaya was cold as well and rice disgusting and overcooked. Service incredibly slow. Nobody stopped by the table to ask how to food was, nor to pick up our full plates that we clearly didn't want.

The food and drinks were pretty good. Service was a slow, and not super attentive. Prices were also a bit high for what you got in my opinion.
