Cote Sud

Upgrading my last review from four to five stars. Pear salads very fresh and perfectly dressed. Salmon with creamed spinach, wild rice, and vegetables was cooked exactly as ordered (rare), absolutely melted in the mouth. Husband got steak frites. Beef was cooked rare with lovely char and the fries were hot. Topped off with the divine crème caramel. Excellent service (with one faux pas...server asking if we wanted to keep our forks and knives or get fresh ones!)

The restaurant has always had a great vibe. The muscles are delicious. The service is really good. Minimal staff in front of house and probably back to the house but they seem to manage.Our main courses were not very good.I had the soft shell crab, and when it was presented, you couldn't really tell what it was. It tasted and looked as if it was prepared before they opened and served upon request. It was sitting on a nice salad, but the salad was a little soggy. The fish of the day was good but a little spicy.We will give it another shot as I hope you readers will try it. It's been around for a long time and we wish the owners and staff nothing but success.

Atmosphere is nice. Service was friendly. The mussels were to die for! Duck wasn't cooked properly. Skin/fat wasn't rendered so it was chewy. Filet has to be sent back because it was overcooked. Second attempt was good. I docked a star because the prices on their website are grossly out of date...as in actual prices are 50% more. Mussels on the website $16. Real price $22 steak price on website $22.50. Actual price $34.50. Don't bother posting prices if you won't keep them up to date.

I've had Cote Sud on my bucket list for ages and finally managed to work it into our schedule on our last visit to the city. I was able to call and leave a message to make our reservation the day of and received a friendly call back to confirm. Be sure to remember that they only take cash or check. If you forget, there's a Chase bank right around the corner on Carrollton. Also, don't go by the menu prices as shown on their webpage... it looks like it hasn't been updated in quite some time. The place is quaint and cozy with old fashioned appeal nestled into the neighborhood. Dinner for two consisted of house salad, and entrees of steak frites, and the duck breast and everything was delicious. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and had a great sense of humor.

This place is actually a great little French Bistro that also does pizza. They make things a bit inconvenient by only taking cash or a local check. Although this place isn't terribly expensive it would be easier to enjoy a nice meal and drink some good wine here if you could use a credit card. The atmosphere here is very cozy and it is a great spot to bring a date. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten here and I've always had decent if a tad slow service. Overall this place is a bit off the radar for most people and they do have some interesting hours that can be a bit challenging to keep up with when they are actually open. Have not been here in a number of years. Last minute decision. Had a wonderful dinner. Friendly and prompt service. Steak Frittes and escargot just as I remembered. Will remember to go more often. Need to remember they don't take Credit Cards

Unpleasant staff drag this place down. We waited too long for the entrees. The seating was uncomfortably tight. Menu is overpriced for the bad service.

we ordered the BlackeNed Red Fish and Lasagna -- both were delicious but the lasagna was the best I've ever eaten! Amazing! Highly recommend

The best French restaurant in the city hands down! Food is delicious, service is always good, and the ambiance is romantic.

We went on an early Sunday evening, great homey cafe environment. It is CASH ONLY so we had to step out to a nearby ATM. The orange martini was refreshing and unexpected, and the pizza was incredibly crisp and fresh. Lots of chit chat with the staff and bartender. We are definitely going back.
