An experience. Total Dive bar. It wasn't what I expected. They card you before you can get seated. Thus there are no kids in the place. The waiter was on one. He was upfront and said he didn't feel well and had a splitting headache. He was rough around the edges and to the point. Going over the specials and the menu. Saying what was good on the menu and what wasn't worth your time. Service was quick and he came to check on us multiple times. Definitely a dive bar feel. Cell phones are not allowed at the table. The tables were large tables that you share with multiple parties. All the seats were taken while we were there. I'm glad we got there early to claim seats.I ordered the redfish Menuerie, see picture for description and correct spelling. It was delicious. Not fishy at all. I love the sauce and paired with rice allowed me to get all the sauce. I'd order it again. My husband got the special. The bathroom was clean minus the graffiti. They take cards.

Cajun Pasta: every bite was full of flavorful deliciousness! Definitely hit the spot! Very filling! Fried Mushrooms: perfectly breaded (not too greasy from being over fried) and they weren't mushy!Ambiance: local dive bar vibeService: There was one server for it being so busy but he did his best! Kudos for keeping a great attitude (forgot his name). Don't come here if your in a rush!

QUICKIE REVIEWWorth a quick stop to try a cup of jambalaya.FOODThis is what I tried:- JambalayaIf you never had rabbit jambalaya, this place is known for it. Won't be for everyone but worth a cup to see if it can be a thing for you. PARKINGNo.SERVICEI ordered at counter and took it to go.PRICEDepends on the size you get.TIP/OTHER THOUGHTSI would call ahead of time to see if they are open. When we got there (back in August) they had just reopened after being closed for a few weeks.

Pretty standard for a pub, I would say it has a cozy setting though. My bf and I went for a late lunch and it was almost dinner time so we didn't want to eat muchRabbit and sausage jambalaya: 9/10 granted as my first time having jambalaya, it was flavorful. But throughout my trip, I noticed that this place makes theirs with much more tomato flavorHouse salad: 9/10 as good as a salad can get lol their green goddess dressing was good though!

It's dive bar atmosphere give this comforting no expectations type of vibe. But when you're met with the taste of the food, you'll understand why people mention Coops.Their fried chicken is great. A lot of people recommend their fried chicken. But even when we got the taste plate, everything had spice and flavor to it. A minor thing was that the shrimp tasted like bland frozen shrimp that was boiled in water. Other than that I like that you get the option to have small portions to taste a little bit of the dishes that are popular in New Orleans. We ordered the Coop's Taste Plate $19.95A cup of Seafood Gumbo to start. Plate includes Cajun Fried Chicken, Shrimp creole, Red beans & Rice, Rabbit & Sausage jambalaya. We also ordered a couple of mint juleps. Our server was so nice that she asked us if she needed to adjust it if it wasn't sweet enough for us. Service was nice. We went when it was raining so inside the bar there was maybe a couple other tables of people there that we were lucky it wasn't too busy.As soon as you sit down they let you know they don't split checks or payments.Overall a positive experience at Coops. I wish I had more fried chicken

First time; group of 3. We got in line just before 6pm on a Saturday and it was a 10-15 minute wait. Once seated, the one server/bartender was bouncing among all the tables to serve everyone and did a good quick job. Drinks and service were pretty fast and tables seemed to cycle quickly. The food was ok; I ordered the "taste plate" and got a variety of their popular dishes. Looking back at it, it's all shades of brown and just ok. Got a beer to go and then we headed out! I personally wouldn't go back but it was ok to check it out.

Coop's came recommended for their fried chicken. We stopped by to try it and a few other New Orleans specialties. We visited around 11:30 AM on a Monday and the place was pretty empty, but a few others trickled in for lunch. We had Coop's Taste Plate ($20) with seafood gumbo, fried chicken, shrimp creole, red beans and rice, and rabbit and sausage jambalaya. We also had the Etoufee ($20) which was a stew of veggies, shrimp, and crawfish over rice. The food was a bit mixed. The fried chicken, etoufee, and jambalaya were excellent. The gumbo was good. Unfortunately, the red beans and rice and the shrimp creole were both pretty cold -- not nearly warm enough. This would have been a 4 star review if temperatures were correct.Service was very friendly. Ambiance is a bit divey but in an appealing way.

I had researched long and hard about where to get some of the best Jambalaya from a restaurant in New Orleans and ended up finding about Coop's. Such a great spot and the jambalaya did not disappoint - so much flavor with the sausage, rabbit, crawfish and shrimp with a good amount of heat. Also Molly's at the Market next door with their frozen Irish coffee was fantastic. I definitely want to come back!!

This was our first stop after arriving in NOLA, our first taste of southern fried chicken and gumbo! Its a dive bar, so you gotta be of age to get in to eat and drink. The fried chicken came out piping hot. First bite in, it was juicy, crispy and crunchy. Since I was so hungry, it tasted amazing in my mouth!! But after trying fried chicken at a different establishment in NOLA, I had to downgrade this chicken by a notch. All good still and still worth coming in for a yummy bite. The place was mega old and just had a lot of history clinging in the air. And the service was great!

5 Stars - Authentic, Delicious, and Quick!Stopped into Coop's Place on Mardi Gras Monday, expecting chaos, but we were pleasantly surprised! Even with the crowds, we were seated right away, and the food came out fast and fresh. The red beans and rice were amazing - perfectly seasoned and full of rich, comforting flavor. But the fried chicken? Absolute perfection.Crispy, golden-brown crust, juicy inside, and straight out of the pan--just like Grandma's kitchen. This place is the real deal. Casual, no-frills, just seriously good food. Highly recommend if you're looking for a true taste of New Orleans comfort food!
