Pretty nice park, beautiful trees. Great place to catch your breath. Seen a lot of Dow owners walking their dogs and a few homeless people. Not from the area so not sure if this is all the time.

I love how this strip of a park has developed over the years. It's now a lush green space with a fountain where you often find children playing and dogs frolicing. Since many of the people who live in the area do not have a ton of yardspace, many make this their defacto front yard which is fun to observe and not crash (unless invited of course). Love that the trees are lush and beautiful right now despite the cold winter...or maybe because of it. Now I just wish some neighbor with a green thumb would plant some flower beds to enhance the beauty.

This park is way bigger than I ever realized. Years ago, I worked in the Waldemar Nelson building on Prytania, and so was close to Coliseum Square. I never ventured all the way down to where the fountain is, though, and therefore I never saw more than a fraction of this cute little dog-friendly park. Why three stars? Well, I'd probably give it four if I...A) Lived in the Lower Garden DistrictB) Had a dog.C) All of the above. So, yeah, there's a fountain (who knew?) that looks really scummy and smells like wet dog when you're up close, but that's probably not a big deal if you have a dog. Even less so if you have a dog who loves water and are looking for places to let your puppyface swim. Because there were definitely dogs swimming in the fountain. It has your average number of sketchy and/or homeless looking people, but not all sprawled out on the ground, sleeping, like I've seen on weekday afternoons in Lafayette Square. Also, it apparently closes - there's a sign that says the park is closed from 10:30 pm to 6:00 am (interesting that they give you the closing time first, rather than the usual open/close times). Since I didn't realize it was such a big park, I also didn't realize it had official hours. You learn something new every day.

A cool little park for morning and evening walks. You often see people with their doggies playing in the grass area. Although if your dog is not super socialized, be careful because there are a lot of dogs off leash at this park. Also, owners tend to let their dogs jump in the fountain to play.... hence the constant wet dog smell (cute to see them play not so cute to smell). Near the fountain there is a water bubbler that has a snout level drink station which is great in the summer heat. The park provides a few doggie bag station as well, but they are often out of bags.On the weekends, I've also seen people practicing their instruments here and at the surrounding houses, very cool. Also, there is enough space to play Frisbee or catch if you are into that sort of thing. I would say this is a fun park if you live in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Wow. So I didn't know this place had a yelp listing, hence the lack of check in. I didn't know it even existed.A friend of mine, who lives in this neighborhood, actually brought me here after telling me about it and pretty much blowing my mind. I have passed this park probably a thousand times and never realized that it was a real park. I guess I just thought it was a lot or something. But it has benches and a pretty fountain and a really nice green space. If I lived nearby I would probably be here all the time on nicer days.

I love Audubon Park, The Fly, and City Park but I really, really love Coliseum Square. Being only a few blocks away from my former house, I've spent many afternoons and extremely late nights on the rope swing, circling the fountain or having a picnic under one of the many oak trees. This park is great for parties. You don't have to make reservations with anyone or pay a fee. It was a great spot for a mini Easter egg hunt, lots of crevices to stick things in. You can have a wild bounce house party or a simple celebration with as much interaction or distance from other park attendees as welcomed. I'm mostly referring to the group of homeless men who hang around. If you're feeling social and don't mind being surrounded by unleashed dogs I recommend setting up around the fountain. If not, visit the end of the park where less happenings are going on. I passed what appeared to be a movie night one night. Big screen, projector, blankets and all! I'm not sure if that occurs frequently but it should.Downside is no public bathrooms but options include: bars close by or becoming one with mother nature on the neighboring side streets.

This is a nice little neighborhood green space in the Lower Garden District. It's more of a functional park than a destination although it does have a few beautiful live oaks, benches, and a fountain. The biggest draw seems to be for the local dog owners. There are always pups running about and swimming in the fountain.

Very picturesque park with a lovely central fountain. Mature Oak trees and old-timey wrought iron lamps complete the pastoral pictureGood for bicycling and dog-walking (although, I'm taking one star because some dog-walkers don't always pick up their pooch's poop - C'mon y'all!), with a path that runs all the way from up at Felicity down to Calliope.

Having just moved here from a place where my very large dog had a big yard to romp in, I was concerned that she and I wouldn't have the green space we are used to. This park has been a perfect solution. We walk around it several times a week, and it's always a pleasure. The large oak trees provide ample shade from the oppressive summer sun, and I hope she eventually gets brave enough to cool off in the fountain, where the water is actually always clean. The only downsides are the bit of construction on the sidewalk, and there are usually several homeless guys around which can be intimidating if you're a female walking alone. However, they have been respectful and kind if they interact at all. Overall, a great experience every time.

This Lower Garden District destination boasts ages old oak trees, an amazing restored fountain, and a backdrop of gorgeous 19th century homes. Many of the locals/neighbors walk their dogs leashless, and there are ample benches. Wedged between Magazine St and St Charles Ave its a fantastic space to take break and soak in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city.
