City Park has my heart. It's full of childhood and adult memories for me. It's also my ideal date spot. Let's go to the Sculpture Garden followed by some Cafe du Monde and a stroll around the park. If we're lucky, we'll get to swing as well. Let's go!

What a versatile space! Weddings, photo shoots, dancing, bands playing, zumba classes on Saturday mornings, and so much more. On the 4th of July 2016, they set fireworks off from here. It is a nice place for a picnic, people watch, or draw. It was the first time they had done it that I am aware of, and I hope this becomes an annual affair.Located near Morning Call, a kids play area, the mini golf course, across from the Story Land, the Botanical Gardens and the amusement park, this is a great spot to just sit and relax for a few minutes.I think this would be a perfect spot for my own wedding (one can dream) on a cool spring or fall morning. This is just so romantic with a lake and fountain nearby and all of the HUGE oak trees. **heavy sigh** Wonderful.

"A Wide Variety of Unusual Art Work "My wife and I went to the City Park Pavilion and witnessed some very unusual artwork displays. The park had some of the most unusual artwork and stories we have ever seen. The Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art holds more than 60 sculptures collectively valued at $25 million. These incredible works of art are nestled along meandering footpaths, reflecting lagoons, and 200-year-old live oaks inside the garden. Great place to walk around and see some unusual Art work.

One of my favorite structures in City Park, the Peristyle was originally used for weekend dances and live music way back before there was electricity, or recorded music, for that matter. These days it is used as a rent-able party space, a wedding hall, a photo backdrop and a place for the symphony to play to the crowds in the Great Lawn the week before Jazz Fest each spring. I've see yoga & exercise classes happening there, although not sanctioned by the park, it is a great spot to stretch out and enjoy the breeze. I've seen dance teams practicing out of the direct sun light. I've seen kids testing their roller skating skills on the smooth pavement. But, for me, the Peristyle will always be the place that I spent the best day of my life, 10.11.12, my wedding day. For a very reasonable price, we rented the Peristyle for the entire day. We hired City Park Catering to make us some fantastic food and drinks. We laughed, we cried, we danced, & we created some amazing memories. Many of our guests proclaimed that it was the best wedding that they had ever been to, and I have the Peristyle to thank for sheltering us and giving us an amazing space to start the rest of our days together.

Beautiful Pavilion located in city park. It looks over a lake with beautiful moss trees and ducks swimming about. This would be perfect for a wedding or if you are having pictures taken.

The city park is huge!!! So much to walk, run, bike, play, skate... it is so pretty around the various lakes and pound. Sculptures are also in display in one part of the park. Botanical garden is also part of this giant green area. With kids, the playground is pretty nice. Many animals are around : ducks, goose, birds,... which makes it very interactive. We have seen yoga and dance classes going on as well. Looks pretty fun under the sun. There is some small restaurants as well to get an ice cream or a drink.

I've been to the peristyle on a couple occasions, but most recently it was for the 2nd annual Mudbug March. The Mudbug March is a fundraiser to raise money for Pulmonary Hypertension. You could tell that the city park staff had cleaned the peristyle, and it looked great. As usual, the view was impeccable. I'm not sure if the tables and chairs were rented fromCity park or another service, but they were ready and waiting. All we had to to was break it down and everything was taken away later. Altogether, it was a very successful event. Many thanks to City Park for the beautiful venue. Thank you and Congratulations to the LSU Nursing Alumni Association for a very enjoyable event.

One of my favorite memories of the Peristyle was dancing across it, just spinning and spinning...of course I was just a tot when I did that, although yes I would do that again...as soon as it gets a little cooler. Yesterday when I passed by the entire pavilion was full of tables and chairs as caterers were setting up for some sort of to do. When it was built, in 1907 it was designed for open air dances with a band on one side and a dance floor on the other. I love the neo-classical colonnade and I miss the melty faced lions. Who knew our weather would be so brutal on their faces but those were "renovated" in 2012 and look more lion-y now. You can rent the space for your event from City Park, hence the catered event yesterday, but if it's not booked you can have your own dance party/photo session/impromptu soiree in it's environs and backed by beautiful Bayou Metairie.
