Possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The guy was rude on the phone when I was placing my to go order ( that's fine I understand we have bad days ). We ordered 2 regular chicken low mein and 2 egg rolls. It was 30$ that is just insane. The low mein wasn't like a dinner meal or anything. Just came in a regular small looking to go box. And it was the most disgusting low mein I've ever had. The pasta was like an angel hair spaghetti? Like ??? What???? And it was swimming in sauce. The sauce was more like brown gravy. I will not come here again.

I've been eating here since I was a kid. It is the best Chinese food I've ever had. I always get the combination Lo-mein (no veggies, extra sauce, spicy). It reminds me of being a kid and eating with my family. The family that's owns the restaurant are great and always helpful and they treat regulars like there own family and that is all u can ask for from a great local restaurant. I live on the north shore now but will literally drive an hour just to visit and enjoy the taste of my childhood.

There's nothing to call home to mom about when it comes to this place. The food was OKAY. I only got a tablespoon of rice meaning they didn't even fill the one corner they put it in! I ate that in three spoonfuls! Yes it was lunch but damn can I at least get the corner filled in? And then the rice was cold, smh. The chicken was warm but the rice was cold. And let's not forget the service. He acted like he was doing me a favor! Like my money not keeping this place from shutting down. There's no curb appeal with this place and in this case take that AND USE IT! Because what you see IS WHAT YOU GET!!!!

China House is a family owned and operated Chinese restaurant. Their family is originally from Hong Kong but they moved to Lousiana in the 70's and opened China House soon after. The owners still work here, cooking some of the best Chinese food in the area. Most of the people who eat here are regulars and have been loyal customers for many years. I've been eating here since I was a kid and have many fond memories of this place. Whenever I eat at any Chinese restaurants this is the place I compare them to. They were basically one of my first comfort foods, aside from my mom's cooking. They're located in a strip mall on Manhattan, next to a daiquiri shop {dessert, anyone? :P}. The atmosphere is casual dining, but they get lots of to-go orders too. I've always loved the bamboo walkway that greets you upon entering and exiting the restaurant. They have two large dining rooms, but are still able provide an intimate atmosphere for dine-in customers complete with classic chinese decor such as lanterns, parasols, Maneki Neko (Fortune Cat), and Buddha statues. The food has always been made from local, fresh ingredients. I have tried pretty much every dish on their menu over the years, although I've accumulated a few favorites. As far as appetizers go the wonton soup here is excellent, and the fried wontons that come with the soups are made in house; the BBQ Pork is also very good- I usually ask for extra BBQ sauce (this isn't the traditional American BBQ sauce) on the side to dip my fried wontons in and pour some over my fried rice- it's an amazing little secret I've picked up after many years. As far as entrees go, if you're dining in I highly recommend the Sizzling Wo Ba. It's a combination of beef, chicken, shrimp and mixed veggies brought out hot and poured on to a sizzling cast iron platter at your table. If you're getting to-go the Shrimp Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Pepper Steak are other great options. The Cho Cho's and Beef Fried Rice are other family favorites. They give you the traditional fortune cookie with your check but be sure to ask for an almond cookie, they're a unique and delicious treat! If you're not stuffed when you leave, you can conveniently grab a daiquiri before hopping in your car and leaving the parking lot. Give them a try if you're hungry in Harvey.
