Chilito's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

Rotten food - chicken was rotten in tacos, gagged. Had to immediately leave, on the way out they started frying rotten fish.

Service from the kitchen was very slow even though the restaurant was not crowded. I ordered the oyster platter. The menu reads "12 pieces." I assumed that meant 12 oysters. Nope. It literally means 12 very thin cut pieces of oyster. I would guess that my $15 dollar plate had maybe 4 total oysters. It was more like vaguely oyster-flavored batter than an oyster plate. The batter was nicely seasoned, though. Sides were generous and tasted fine. Also, the music ranges from moderate to very loud. At one point, I was tempted to ask for my food to go it was so loud. Wait staff is friendly and attentive enough.

Ran into this place and enjoyed a good meal of Filete de Mero (Grouper) with Rice, Beans, and Tostones (fried plantain). This bar/restaurant has a decent-sized dance floor that attracts a fun, vibrant local crowd on Friday and Saturday nights to the sounds of bachata, merengue, salsa, and reggaeton. Definitely a great, fun find on the Westbank.

Don't waste your time. I went after reading a positive review but was thoroughly unimpressed. I only had a small window of time to grab a late lunch. I ordered a beer and took a look at the menu but was already ready to pay and leave. Unfortunately, they only accept cash yet have NO ATM machine. Luckily I had some cash in my car. Can't think if any reason I would venture to go back.

Located at 505 Gretna Blvd, Gretna LA:The scowling, scantily clad Madam, who all the servers went to with questions (and there were many) made the entire visit offensive and very unwelcoming. No one smiled but cold, hard stares were plentiful. The general feel of the place was that they did not care whether anyone patronized them or not, as long as the employees had a place to hang out with their families all day. Not customer-friendly at all in an industry where customer relations are key. The Baleada Especial was pretty good but there are plenty of other restaurants where consumers are appreciated. Definitely not here.

Super slow take out order! Carne asada was like beef jerky! Maybe not a bad place to have some beers
