This is a solid choice for quick lunch. They have daily lunch specials for ~$11.99, and options include pad Thai or fried rice and an egg roll.I usually can't decide and get a little bit of everything!

Unfortunately I will be throwing what's left of this dish away. I had really high hopes for this place based on the reviews but was highly disappointed with the pad thai. It barely had any chicken in it and has no flavor. It's like the noodles are just mixed with sweet and sour sauce and there was a lime wedge and peanuts on the side. Just not good. Cheap food for a high price. I will not be back.

Chai Tai-Lao is in a small shopping center off of Jefferson Highway. Interior sit down area is minimalistic, with self-serve napkins, spoons, forks and drinks. It is accessible by wheelchair. Very, very clean which is always appreciated. You can eat in or take out. We ate there. Prices are not cheap. Total bill for two entrees (Drunken Noodles and Pepper Steak Basil) and two softs drinks, was $44. Prices of entrees and rice/noodle dishes are not even printed on the menu. Add in an appetizer and you'll need a $50 bill plus a fiver. Food was brought out very quickly, steaming hot and portions were generous. Basil pepper steak was good. Good basil taste. A little strong on the salt and had a hint of soy sauce which I'm not used to in a Thai dish. It had a ton of vegetables and beef, including red and green peppers, basil, thin sliced carrots, onions and ... string beans ... the latter of which I'm not used to seeing in my Thai dishes. A comment on the saltiness. An overuse of salt is usually a good indicator that the underlying flavor of a dish (or lack thereof) is being covered up. You'll have to judge this for yourself. The drunken noodles tasted good, a little sweet, with pretty much the same vegetables. My dining partner got it level 2 (out of 4) on the spicy scale, which was more than enough. Try levels 3 or 4 at your own peril, lol. Overall we were pleased and may be back. It's not the best Thai we've had in the Baton Rouge area, but if you're on Perkins near I-12 and hankering for some Thai, it will do. Just be prepared for the prices.

This place was highly reviewed by yelp. I thought it was very average. The portion was big of the Pad Thai. But it had very little chicken in it. The noodles were good. The medium spicy was a more spicy than I expected. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. It took a long time to get the food. $20 for the chicken pad Thai and a bottle of water. They seem to do a lot of takeout. business. There's no ambience to the place, but I really didn't come for that. I'm not going to return. I think there's better out there.

Great lunch spot! The lunch food is already premade so you can just pick it right up. The portion is huge! The service is great, it's super small so fairly intimate. The egg roll was the highlight for me, perfect crunch.

Chai Thai-Lao is my ultimate lunch spot. I can't recommend their daily lunch special enough; my husband and I often split it because it's incredibly generous! It's always freshly prepared, piping hot, and ready to enjoy. With two enticing entree choices paired with either fried rice, pad Thai, or both, there's something for everyone. You can even indulge in all four options if you're feeling adventurous, and it always includes a delicious egg roll. All this goodness for just around $13! Whether you prefer dining in or taking it to-go, Chai Thai-Lao never disappoints.

Blissful RUN to this Thai restaurant. Seriously, hands down amazing! You order your food at the counter and sit, they will deliver to you at the table. They had an amazing amount of to go orders - I was surprised! We each got an appetizer, the cauliflower and chicken satay which was delicious! These could have been meals on their own. We got the Pad Thai and then the Khao Soi - Y'ALL!!! The soup/ramen was so good. The broth had so much amazing flavor that you literally don't want to stop eating. While the chicken pad Thai was good, I'd recommend the soup over anything! This is truly a hidden gem in BR! The staff is amazing and they deliver a pleasant experience. The service is outstanding and they go above and beyond.

Chai Thai Lao8733 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809It's not often that I eat Thai food since I don't usually crave it. I can admit, though, in my own opinion that Chai Thai Lao has the best Thai food in Baton Rouge. Even the owners are top-notch in caring about the customers along with their impeccable service. From beginning to end, everything we've ordered was just mind blown. Expect to see me back here!1. Small place - essentially a kitchen with a few tables. No wine or spirits. Just order at the counter. The food is the draw, and it's definitely worth the drive from our place downtown. We had the Thai Egg Rolls and Peanut Cauliflower to start. Both were hot out of the fryer, and delicious. She had the Thai Basil Rice with shrimp, and I had the Pad Kieng with shrimp. Both were full of flavor and freshness. Perfect ingredients, expertly prepared. The latter was especially tasty. We ordered both Hot (not Thai Hot), My forehead was sweaty, and my nose was running, just like I want when eating good Thai food. Chai Thai-Lao has the best Thai food, maybe even the best Asian food in Baton Rouge.

We have given it a couple tries. The qualities is awful and the food is expensive. The ambience is plain the wait staff are very nice. I thought third time would be a charm, but it kept getting worse. Do not recommend.
