I was lucky enough be able to check out this venue for a fancy event. The space here is lovely. This large piece of property is surrounded by lovely trees and gardens that make any event picturesque. Outside there is a seating area with a fireplace where you can take in the view. Inside there is a bar in the front and then a big room where the party happens and then there is a connected room with great light and views. On the night I was here, the entire "outside" room was illuminated and the yard area was beautifully lit. I like that the space is large enough so that you don't feel stuffed into the space. The staff was attentive and cleared everything as needed and the bartenders were fast about keeping up with the crowd. I didn't eat much, but the food I did have was good.

We picked the best venue for our daughter's wedding that was held this past Saturday night. Laura and her husband were in the process of buying this plantation from the previous owner, Jill. We didn't know anything about Laura, but we went with our gut and made a good decision. The planning process was very easy. Laura is very organized, thorough, accessible, accommodating, honest, professional and nice. The wedding and reception flowed. We had approximately 125 guests and have had all positive feedback. The food was delicious just like locals expect. The beverages were not watered down and the bartenders could make anything you wanted. The staff were courteous and friendly to our guests. Many guests thought they were getting the special VIP treatment, but, as it turns out, everybody seemed to receive the same attention. The venue is beautiful...charming, historical, outdoor and indoor spaces, and gardens. The chapel where the wedding took place is very pretty and romantic. The flow of the "rooms" were great. The venue isn't one large hall, but areas all open to one another so everyone is together but not on top of each other. It already has stylish tablecloths, candles, and floral arrangements everywhere that you can use or not. We used a lot of their decor and added more florals in line with the wedding's color scheme. It is in Waggaman and is very easy to get to. We and our guests highly recommend that you to take a look at Cedar Grove Tchoupitoulas Plantation for your event. I found the cost per person was in line with the quality per person of food, drinks, service, venue and ambiance.

I've been to two weddings here within a month and both were really nice. The property is filled with oak trees and you feel like you are walking into someones home, rather than a reception venue. The food is some of the better wedding food I've ever had. One of the servers who goes by the nickname H is always very nice and helpful. The first wedding we went to we had asked H if they had anymore crawfish beignets because the rest of our table tried some when they were passed around and raved about them. They ended up being out and H asked us if he could bring us anything else and even though we said it was ok he still brought us out a plethora of tastings minutes later and apologized again. I thought that was so nice since we were not at a reserved table so it was clear we were just regular guests and not part of the wedding party or family. He really goes above and beyond to make sure all of the bride and grooms guests are well taken care of.

There are no words to describe the sincere appreciation and gratitude I feel for Jill and her amazing team at Cedar Grove! My wedding this past weekend was straight out of a fairy tale! Jill and her team were so easy to work with even though I had a destination wedding. The facilities are beautiful and so tastefully and elegantly decorated. My guests can't stop raving about how everything was perfectly planned, how the food was some of the best they've ever had, and how the bar service and drinks were top notch. Highly recommend this amazing venue!

I give this place 3 stars, compromising for the pros and cons.I've recently been a bridesmaid in a wedding party where the ceremony and reception was held here. The date was late September 2014.5 stars go to service. Jill, the owner and coordinator of the events, was excellent. She was very sweet and accommodating. She knew her stuff! When it came to the photographers, flow of the event, etc,--- she knew everything: what had to be done, what was going to happen, how certain photographers like certain things, etc. She was very organized and if any changes were made, even at the very last minute, she was calm and collective, even if the bride was not. She walked us through every step, until the very end and was there for anything you needed. The location was beautiful! Landscaping and building has been really kept up very nicely. This kind of setting doesn't require too much extra décor, because it's romantic on its own. Food was okay, arranged in buffet style. It was better than some other weddings I've been to where there was also a buffet, but most I've been to have been sit down dinners with several courses, so maybe I can't judge too much on the food. In the bridal chambers while we waited for the ceremony to begin and the guests to arrive, there was a cheese plate with a few sandwiches and water. No alcohol or wine was allowed to be served until the reception, so good tip would be to BYOB if you're in the wedding party and you like to get started a little earlier (that's the fun part of being in the party, right? ;)) So I would give 1 STAR to....... BAR SERVICE.---------------------Worst wedding bar service ever. I've been to plenty of venues and plenty of weddings. No shots were to be served at all. Nada. So they said it was in the wedding contract, but people began ordering "straight whiskey on the rocks" or what not. When they started catching on that people wanted to drink (It was honestly around the third one 'on-the-rocks' that they were pouring), they were like "OK. LAST ONE ON THE ROCKS. YA'LL ARE ABUSING IT." It's a wedding for goodness sake! And trust me, all of us (bridal party) was pretty ticked because they probably haven't even used up one bottle of liquor YET. The bartenders were these 3 Caucasian guys and were being "sarcastically polite" and it just rubbed all of us the wrong way. The only shot we all wanted to take was the first one of the night, to toast to our friends and family. So yeah, weddings are supposed to be amazing, YOUR DAY, and you should be ABLE to drink if you want. It's a once in a lifetime event (hopefully) and so significant. Because of this one little flaw, I would NOT recommend it. Unless you're planning to not have any alcohol service at all, then go for it. I do understand that it was a part of the rules, but it's exactly that, if you're looking for a place that would serve your guests whatever they'd like, there are plenty other venues.

Beautiful location for a wedding and reception! I was in a wedding this past weekend at Cedar Grove. Jill, the wedding coordinator, was fantastic. She kept everything under control and had everything you might need for dress or flower mishaps, etc. Last minute issues like, "Who's going to hold the 1-yr old ring bearer after the bridesmaid walk?!" as we're about to walk down the aisle were easily mitigated. No worries - Jill's got it. She was holding the ring bearer, coordinating bridesmaid/groomsman pairs, and keeping the bride out of sight all at once - all while being calm, cool, and collected. The food and service were great. The buffet had some nice options, and then there were staff walking around with at least 10 different hors d'oeuvres that weren't on the buffet. I've never seen that many food options at a reception before. The duck empanadas, mashed potato bar, and mini muffalettas were outstanding! My family was in attendance, and they commented that it was the best service they've ever received at a reception. If you're looking for a simple yet elegant, plantation-style wedding/reception, you definitely want to check out Cedar Grove. It was the perfect setting for our bride and groom!

I went to a wedding here a few months ago. I have been to a lot of weddings, and this place takes the cake in all aspects. I hope I get married soon, but who knows haha, have to get a bf first. The food was great, the staff was the most friendly staff I have ever met.The bar was wonderful. I drank amaretto pineapples the whole night and they were fantastic. Overall, this place was wonderful, I definitely recommend.

This is one of the best wedding venues! The plantation itself is awesome, inside & out! So many photo opportunities. The food is probably the best wedding reception food. The main room is perfect for dancing, but the other rooms make it so easy to hang out and have other activities, i.e. photo booth area, large bar, cake, etc. And, the owners and their staff were so professional and accommodating. There are not enough stars for this venue.

Wow, just wow. I can not begin to describe how incredible this venue is. Cedar Grove was not my original wedding venue, but with COVID making Orleans Parish go into phase 1 I had to change my location. WITH 10 DAYS NOTICE! I called multiple places, and Laura at Cedar Grove answered all of my prayers. She allowed me to come to the venue within 25 minute of calling at 10am. Once I arrived I was sold! Laura made sure that everything I wanted was taken care of! The communication was fantastic! Within the hour of me leaving, and signing my contract Laura had already called all my venders from the previous venue. She talked to everyone directly to take a world of stress off of my shoulders. With the last minute changes, I had already chosen a cake vender that the venue didn't normally use. She credited me for part of the cake, and called them directly for me! The entire place is magical. My wedding was this past weekend, and I can't say enough about how perfect it was. I've gotten so many calls about how intimate and fun the location was. The staff was so friendly! and the FOOD! Oh my gosh the food.... My parents, in-laws, and guest could not rave enough! Everything came out hot, and delicious. My personal favorite were the hot beignets at the end of the night with coffee! It is crazy that this place turned out the be my perfect venue, even with not knowing about it until days before. I don't think any other place could have made my day as special as it was. Please considering going to check it out, you won't be disappointed!

We went to visit this place as a potential venue. The venue seemed decent enough. The outside looked weathered, but the inside was updated to look modern. I could tell sections were retrofitted and added on, but that was not necessarily a big deal. However, the owner, Jill, did NOT treat us with respect. We asked questions about the venue, such as how we could schedule specific portions of the event, how she would coordinate the event; we basically wanted to understand how flexible it was since Jill takes care of most of the event coordination. This must have rubbed her the wrong way. Instead of thinking about our needs and how she could potentially help us, she came to a quick conclusion saying that this venue was not for us. Even if this venue was not for us, the customer should decide whether the venue is right for them, not the other way around! Even after this we tried to understand her point of view, but when we continued to ask her more questions, she would roll her eyes and give us curt replies. I was thinking that this venue may be an option for us, but after the way she treated us, ABSOLUTELY NOT!
