I agree with the other reviewer that I'd like to be adopted by these folks. In all seriousness, little grocery stores like this are part of the reason I moved to Louisiana, and why I'd never like to set foot in a big chain store if I can help it. The people that run this place are good local folks that care about their community, and they deserve your patronage.Part grocery, part knick-knack shop, part sporting goods store, part tavern, part boat repair shop, and part anything-else-you-might-need-in-this-part-of-the-world, I think it's fair to day that this store has been keeping locals fed and afloat for a long time. And I hope they continue to for many years to come.

It doesn't get more charming than Cecil Lapeyrouse Grocery. I mean, look at those photos I posted. Here we have a Bayou Bodega, only 10X better because they have a lit up Christmas tree gracing the entryway, serve all your boating needs (gas up your yacht from the dock), interesting snacks (fried peanuts in the shell!), and a lovely backyard where you can sit and enjoy the snacks. Or play with a kitty. Or stand on the dock and watch the sun drip down over the trees and the still bayou. And the owners are extremely warm and friendly (I wish they'd adopt me).

Very picturesque establishment. I grew up around here my entire life. My parents were good friends of the owners. Best place to frequent b4 and after fishing and u can get the old time candies of yesteryear. U can pick a seasoned black skillet too.

This location is dear to me, my grandfather took me there quite often as a child, as we had a camp down the road. 40 years later I visited it again. Cecil and his family are upholding the legend! He is third generation running the store like is was over 100 years ago - stop in and buy some bait, ice, gas, and a cool souvenir. Support this historic gem! Ask Cecil about how the crabs are running or what bait is good for catching redfish etc. he knows what's up!! it's down home good folks carrying the torch of tradition! Leave your cell phone in the truck - Go buy a handful of things and shoot the breeze with them, for a moment you can feel like it's 1984. I will always love Cocodrie La!
