Capital City Grill

We were in Baton Rouge and we asked someone where we should go for lunch and she said that her favourite place was the Capital City grill so we went for it.We got I. There and it was packed'. Lots of families and big tables. Good sign but it slowed the service down. That said, our server Emma was wonderful and took care of us. The food overall was pretty darned good - my burger was great but their seafood and sausage gumbo was nothing less than fantastic. However, my wife couldn't eat her omelette because there was a oool of grease inside but they took it off the bill. She said her salad was great. It was when we got to the bathrooms that she had some issues. I will spare you the details but my wife spun on her heels and turned around when she saw the condition.l and said there was no way she would use it. Too bad since the food here is really quite good.

My husband and I decided to grab an early dinner downtown. We decided to eat at Capital City Grill because we were in the mood for some seafood. It's a pretty large restaurant with a bar area, but the bar area was pretty full. So we sat in a booth. Our waiter came out quickly and brought menus and water. It was still happy hour, so ordered the Pretty in Pink for me and the New Old Fashion for him! For our app, we ordered the boudin balls. For my entree, I ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 seafood platter and my husband ordered the Catfish Etoufee. The boudin balls were not good. They were fried too hard and the boudin filling was bland. My catfish platter was better, although the fish and shrimp could have used more seasoning. My husband's catfish etoufee was good, but over salted. Also, the hushpuppies tasted old and stale. Like they were made with cheap flour. We've dined here before, but the food was better. This experience didn't really impress us to come back.

Had grilled chicken and fries for a late lunch . Food was really good . There was a live band playing outside .

I wasn't impressed with this restaurant during this dining experience. This was my second time dining here for lunch. For an appetizer, I tried the Capital City queso served with warm tortilla chips. The chips were good but the queso was just ok. I definitely would not order it again. It didn't really have much of a taste. For my entrée, I ordered the cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, onions, pickles, and mustard. I was disappointed when it arrived because there was mayo underneath the pickles and no onions. My server was very nice and offered to take it back to fix it. The burger was just ok and definitely on the greasy side. The fries that came with the burger were super soggy. I wouldn't order this again as an entrée. Overall, food wasn't so great, service was slow, and the booth I was sitting in was busted pretty bad. The bathroom was also not the cleanest and parking took a while. Be prepared to pay to park in a parking lot or parking garage downtown if you cannot find street parking. I dined here on a Saturday for lunch and had to circle around the restaurant multiple times before finding a spot on the street.

This is my 2nd time having dinner and drinks at Capital City Grill and both times I enjoyed this Restaurant. Food was great, service was outstanding and the drinks were delicious I would recommend a Cosmopolitan, some Crabfingers and Hush Puppies.

We made reservation and got there early but was able to be seated because our table was ready. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. Whiskey straight-up and a blueberry mojito. Apps were banger shrimp and boudin balls.Main course was Hiney Garlic Salmon and Catfish Orleans. The Salmon was outstanding as well as the catfish. Did not like the fact that the catfish Orleans was over French fries.Service was great at the beginning but slacked off towards the end as the place got more busy. Our server was all over the place and hard to start down.Was disappointed that on a Friday night at 7 pm they were out of carrot cake for dessert. It's the beginning of the weekend and you don't have things on the menu stocked.Overall this was a good experience.

Decided to eat here last minute on a Monday and they did not disappoint! Was welcomed fast and sat within a minute. Staff was super friendly. The food was really good and surpassed our expectations! The fried crab claws were super fresh, hot and good!! Definitely worth it! For entrees we had the honey glazed salmon was very tasty and I will for sure be getting that again. We also tried the grilled chicken sandwich which was hot and flavorful. This restaurant is good for family or date night! We were really pleased with our experience and will be back!

Quick lunch while in Baton Rouge for work.Ordered the catfish Po-boy. It came out hot and tasted great, fries were crispy. Bartender did a great job with the attention and service she provided.

Nice local beer selection, the fried alligator appetizer was amazing for trying the first time. Wasn't a big fan of the crab appetizer, but it wasn't awful. The gumbo soup was a little too much liquid versus rice, okra, and the like, but tasty!It was a Tuesday night, so not very crowded, the service was outstanding and attentive like any restaurant should be when it's slow. Would recommend for a quick meal if visiting or enjoying hanging out at the bar.
