On a map of New Orleans you'll see the French Quarter that has all the cool history and architecture that you're looking for when you visit. Further south you'll see a bunch of government buildings, hotels, and modern looking buildings. The street that divides these two sections is Canal Street.A canal was originally planned for this divide in the 1800s and although it was never built, the street that ended up getting built took the "canal" name. Nowadays it is the main street in the shopping district of New Orleans with shopping malls like Canal Place and further down the Riverwalk Outlets. Besides shopping there are plenty of hotels and other places of entertainment like the Sazerac House (I highly recommend you check this out), theaters, a casino, and the Audubon Aquarium. It's only a short walk from the French Quarter and Bourbon Street so you'll likely find yourself roaming these streets during your visit to New Orleans.

This main thoroughfare is rather active during the day and evening as well. The street is always teeming with people breaking out in dance or music anywhere up and down Canal. Lots of souvenir shops, hotels on both sides, chicken and daiquiri spots flanking both sides of Canal. Easy to locate the French Quarter. I walked down every street down the French quarter and saw most of the activities down Royal Street and Bourbon street, both during the day and night.

What I love about NOLA is that pretty much everything is within walking distance. My hotel is located on one of the main streets, Canal Street, in the middle of all the action. There's a cable car that runs along the center of this street. Aside from the French Quarter, I would say this is one of the busier sections of NOLA. There are lots of restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. Put on some comfortable shoes and check it out!

Literally one of the main roads in NoLa. We enjoyed walking Canal Street with their numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops. Whatever you are looking for, I am sure Canal Street will have it. They also have the trolley traveling along Canal.

You're in the big easy, there's only one thing to do and that's have a drink, some gumbo, blackened fish, and listen to some phenomenal jazz music. New Orleans is all about party, party party party! Some of the best food in the country is served in the restaurants of New Orleans, it may not be the healthiest food, but it sure is good.!
