Cajun Fresh Market

Fun little market on the side of the road - we'd passed by the signs advertising "Hot Cracklins" and we had to make a stop.Lots of meats in the freezer section - we picked up stuffed pork chops and alligator patties. As we were checking out they just loaded up some fresh pork cracklins and we got a cup of those. So good! It's heavily seasoned so if you can't have or don't like salt, maybe see if they have any unseasoned.We also tried the gator balls - not my fave (tasted like maybe there was crawfish or crab mixed in) but ok.

Cajun Fresh Market is located off the 90. It is a total tourist trap, and it got us good. Seeing the signs off the highway, we thought it would be a good idea to pull over for a snack. They had some light produce, a lot of frozen proteins for sale, fried food, snacks. The highlight of my visit was honestly taking a restroom break. It was fairly clean for a unisex restroom at a random market in the middle of nowhere. My boyfriend and I meant to get a small snack but the Smokin' Hot Sampler ($13.99) turned out to be more than we imagined. This includes a pork, shrimp and crawfish boudin and an alligator sausage. We thought boudins were small balls of snacks but it turns out they are basically large sausage size looking took. If you haven't had a boudin, it is basically sausage looking but filled with rice, protein and spices. It was really hard for me to bite into and enjoy these boudins because the casings were quite rubbery. I didn't enjoy the filling either. We both agreed that the alligator sausage was the best thing in the sampler. If we could redo this experience I would pass on all of the boudins, get the alligator sausage on its' own and add some pork or chicken cracklins. Not the best experience, but it served its' purpose as a snack pick up and restroom break on our little road trip.

Two days after our first visit we had to drive the 35 miles to eat there again! Yesterday was the French Market in New Orleans (we're here for a week) but the foods we had in the French Quarter couldn't compare, Cajun Fresh beat it all, hands down. Today we got the super sampler, with 3 kinds of smoked boudin, alligator sausage, boudin balls, crayfish and shrimp fried pies, crawfish egg roll (who'd a thought?) 3 sauces and enough to feed 4 people. For $26, compared to yesterday's lunch for 2 at $60 at the French Market. It was all delicious. A word to those new to Cajun specialties: you probably won't like boudin as it's always soft, packed in a natural casing which cuts tough, and usually has liver and always rice in it. Try a sample first and don't dis it till you know what boudin is....Now to the jams and jellies- amazing. Strawberry is a favorite but every one we've tried has been awesome. Great place, like all other roadside stands wish they could be.

This is a really cool place. They have frozen food, fresh produce, souvenirs, hot and ready food, and a full menu to order from. Everything we've gotten there has been delicious except for the boiled peanuts which were super bland. My husband raves about the shrimp poboy! The service has been hit and miss. There is no indoor dining, only a couple picnic tables outside. If you're in the area it's worth a stop.

Wide selection of jellies, meats and cheeses as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Friendly employees. I have driven by here several times and only just stopped in. I am glad I did finally and look forward to coming back.

I stopped in because it's only a couple of miles from my house and I love it. I got fresh caught, head-on shrimp and crawfish boudin and I loved it all. Okay, I've never really had head-on shrimp before moving to the bayou but I guess I'm from a place where the shrimp aren't raised and caught. They were quite tasty - I took them home and boiled them up. The boudin was amazing. I'm already wanting more. I've tried a lot of crawfish boudin, but this was the best I've had.

Best Chicken Cracklin that I have found!! Great price and the. Ox deal is far more than i could eat but myself

bought shrimp from this place they were fresh and big, great price and amazing service 10/10 recommend you checking them out!

been coming here for years just for the lemonade. today the lemonade was down right disgusting. asked the worker if she had another batch. she said it's the same recipe. no refund or apology. left the full cup on the counter and left. lady should be fired
