I'm usually in this shop to peruse the accessories and selection of local tshirts.I haven't shopped for actual jeans here in years since that didn't go well the last time I tried. On the other hand, they do have lots of the jean brands that folks in the know want to buy. (I mostly just want jeans that actually fit and aren't overly embellished.) So for a large selection of styles take a gander. And maybe you'll hit the jackpot of style and fit."

Joi B. "This shop is on regular rotation for just about all my fancy costume needs and I'm glad it's conveniently located on Decatur in the French Quarter. What I especially appreciate is how helpful the employees are. The other day I was looking for the ladies version of my husband's elaborate jacket that gets him compliments whenever he wears it on parade day or Mardi Gras itself. Although there wasn't a ladies version, I was helped out to find a long button-up vest that was the perfect match. I'm still thinking on it but will likely go back and purchase it. Items here are of better quality than other similar shops, so this of course commands a higher price. It's not just costumes though. Looking for goth/steampunk/new romantic/rockabilly styles? They've totally got you here. The shoe collection is also impressive. While the front of the store appears small, it goes back pretty deep and I have no doubt you'll find whatever your dark little heart desires here."

We're staying at the new Rubenstein Hotel (very upscale I do have to say) My plan is, while my sons are out and about, let me slide into Rubensteins for a custom tailored suit. This had to be the quickest transaction in the history of the store:I walk in and I'm greeted by a dapper looking gentleman, Ozzie.I tell him I was at Commander's Palace last night. While on line at the hostess stand, I noticed there was a gentleman wearing the same dark blue Haspel suit. I grabbed the guy by the arm (sorry, I'm from New York) and said: Dude, are you wearing the same Haspel suit?? Why yes I am as he shows me the label. We both have good taste and it looks better on you!I told Ozzie, I'm on a mission. I'm going to Europe in a month and I want to look fly. I can't have the Brooks Brothers off the rack look, show me your best. My man pulls out this elegant black suit, I mean, I think I saw Obama wearing the same one but without an Italian pocket square. I said: Ozzie, I said I wanted fly but this is super fly!Next, I'm shown into the dressing room where the professional tailor is measuring the garment to my exact measurements. Now Ozzie is doing the upsell! He's showing me shoes, Italian ties and other items. I politely decline and say when I go back to New York, I have a guy.Now comes the final sale. I ask for military discount or even a hotel guest discount?? *Owners, you need to knock off 10% at least for these two itemsThe value is immeasurable! Professional salespeople who know their products and have a tailor on premise?Rubensteins, thanks for the incredible customer service and quality menswear."

Dorothy Y. "I've been getting my streetwear fix on trips to visit the fam in Los Angeles and via Internet shopping. No more! We originally visited the Baton Rouge location, as it is the only one listed as an official The Hundreeds stockist, and were informed while shopping that the original store location was in New Orleans. So when we came home, we visited as well. Because you know. That makes sense and all.Located on N. Peters right across from Canal Place and next to Coyote Ugly, re:fresh is the kind of store that seems right at home on Fairfax Avenue in the Melrose district, passed by by tourists and sought out by skater/streetwear kids looking to get their hands on a limited selection of The Hundreds, Billionaire Boys Club, Bathing Ape (!!!!), and Dee & Ricky (who made a recent appearance leaving behind a rare selection of their coveted Lego goods). I think we even spotxed some Mighty Healthy in there?? Great selection of sneakers, carefully culled, and not just Nikes. Excellent customer service by an extremely friendly and helpful staff, ready to chat up labels, prices, and grab a size before you even ask. They host events in the space, apparently, and co-host others elsewhere, most recently of interest, the official Drake Jazzfest after party. Prices are exceedingly reasonable, although you should not be expecting single digit deals. Supporting small independent labels and small stores has its price: high. However, in one day, over two locations, we bought 3 tees, a button-up, and a pair of shoes, all at discounted prices, and coming out to less than $150. I look forward to coming back and checking out what lines take the place of the current table of discounted winterwear!"

They informed me that stored don't really hold a stock of Alden's cordovans, but they'd me more than happy to order a pair from the next run that would be produced and let me decide if I want them once I an see them in person. It was extremely nice of them to do this, as they would essentially have to purchase the shoes from the manufacturer with no guarantee that I would buy the shoes from them. To make a long story short, they fit perfectly, and I am now a very happy customer."

There is a wide selection of retro dresses in a lot of different sizes. They vary from what I would call casual swing dresses to fancier form fitting wiggle dresses, in both solids and prints. I am only knocking off a star because the dresses are a little steep, though I understand this is the dress manufacturer price.I kind of wonder if past reviewers. went into the store, or just went by what they saw in the window, because if you are a guy, they also carry a wide selection of suits of all kinds at very good prices. Perlis ended up being a better deal than most of the department stores because of their free alterations policy. And the alterations are for life...now if my brother had only kept the moths away from his suit, then it would have been more useful. As for women's clothes, I know they carry a number of designer brands, and I've tried on a few things there, but have never purchased for one reason or another. The gift section upstairs is very fun & unique. I wanted something that looked like normal clothes for sightseeing but had that type of material that is really lightweight and wicks away sweat. Regular cotton would be less than ideal.Tasc had lots of nice options. I found a few polos and two pairs of shorts that fit nicely and looked good. The clothes we found struck a nice balance. The material is lightweight and a bit stretchy while looking nice without crossing that line into full blown athletic gear. It can be a tight line to walk. There were a handful of other customers, definitely more than there were salespersons. The staff did a good job of juggling requests and getting us checked out quickly. Side note. Shari V converted me over to lululemon years ago, and I really liked their stuff. The shorts held up great. Other places couldn't help me. It was understandable. I didn't know about the wait times or understand the seasons of this industry. I was up against it. As luck would have it, Tuxedos To Geaux was also doing the entire Grooms party's suits. They were happy to help me. I told them when I needed the suit and they assured me I was in good hands. The confidence they had in putting together a special order assemble that matched the brides party and complimented the grooms suits was reassuring. They made me feel good about my appearance and how I looked in the suit. I appreciated that. I don't often dress this fine. I'm a working man. The soft touch made the process comfortable for me. The price of the suit was cost effective. I expected it to be way more expensive given the quality, the season, and the order being a customized one. It came in almost a week early. They made any necessary alterations for free. I had such a good experience that I get suits just for me now. I also got my nephew a suit from here, he flew in from Seattle and they got him a suit the day before! I was heavily complimented for this suit. Terrific experience.
