Plus the gas was a few cents cheaper than other local spots. As I was pumping gas, kids ran back to an SUV next to me saying they had gotten FOOD! and boy did they. It almost made me go inside and stock up on beaucoup snacks. Next time!"

The station is very well lit at night.During the current time of Covid-19, I get that companies need to diversify in their endeavors to make money. Capitalism. I was working from home one day and wanted pizza without going with the national chain. I hop on doordash and find a place called Mothership Pizza. I see that there are not many options on the menu, and see that the physical address is in a place where I do not remember a physical pizza place in the area. I went ahead and ordered. While the pizza did not taste as if it were once frozen, it wasn't quite homemade. I have included links for the doordash page and the google maps link to show that there are no pizza places in the immediate vicinity. Who am I to judge? Honestly I was pretty skeptical about it at first, then my bf ordered the shrimp PO-boy. That was the end of the story! Lol it's always hot and fresh and you can't beat the price. They have a full menu, they have seafood, roast beef po boys, fries, Cajun fries, breakfast, hot sausage po boys, hamburger po boys. They have ribs, burgers, I mean the menu goes on and on. You can call the order in and it takes about 10-15 minutes for pick up and it's always hot and fresh. The staff is friendly and you can tell it's family owned. They are always busy and always running specials. This place is worth checking out, but don't take my word for it."

However, the main reason for only a 3-star rating not so much against the facility here, but the Exit off the I-10 made it look like it was a bunch of stuff there. But in reality, you have to backtrack at least 4 miles to see a sign of civilization. :-o"

I rolled in around 1:30 on a Monday without an appointment due to concern about excessive vibration under the hood. Although they seemed busy, Tommie checked out my car, quickly identified the problem and called his parts dealer to get a quote. Quote was reasonable and they said they could fix it for me right then. I went down the street to chill, and two hours later my car was done. So happy with the expedited, friendly service. John L. H. "This RaceTrac is modern, fancy, and offers reasonably priced gasoline. When I first discovered the RaceTrac chain it was unlike any gas station I had ever visited. That was back in the 90s and the only RT I had visited was located on Gause and I-10. That place was so packed all the time that there were folks outside with headsets trying to coordinate gas purchases. Fast forward to today and the chain has blown up and become much more ballerific. This location, like most modern RaceTracs has froyo, a bunch of beer, a bunch of snacks, and a bunch of regular drinks. They also have super clean bathrooms with a separate entrance if you just want to deuce it up and then roll out. It is much more convenient to I-10 than the Gause location so if you're travelling through I'd stop here over that location. So far this review has been pretty boring and generic. What personal experience can I share that will set me apart from other reviews? Bacon Jerky. That's right ladies and gentlemen. My last visit I had been out exploring and taking photos all day and wanted a snack. I was just about to grab the hot Jack Links when I saw a package labeled bacon jerky. Hell Yes! It was pretty awesome. If you need gas, and bacon jerky, this is where you should stop."

For me the term solid means A-OK. Now that your science/vocabulary lesson from the town idiot is done, I will explain why I think this station is solid.I hate travelling on 22 between 190 and Madisonville. The road configuration kind of sucks and there is always traffic. The other gas station on this route only has one way in and one way out which makes it difficult to exit if you're headed to 190.This location has exits both on 22 and on the W Approach. The issue is that some people like to cut through who aren't getting gas. Those people suck. There are several rows of pumps and you can almost always find an open spot to fuel up. Fuel is competitively priced and I've never had issues with the quality of fuel. The convenience store part of this store is kind of sketchy so I'd stick to getting gas only."

This isn't a bad neighborhood station, but it's a little scary if you're here by yourself (especially if you're a woman pumping gas alone). Lots of folks will want to engage in small talk and the parking lot gets packed with lurkers. To get there the hungry pilgrim winds past packed shelves of incense, pig knuckles, synthetic viagra, and off-brand chips. I have, however, never tried the Old Hammond location simply because I'm rarely in that area. Recently, a coworker said that they had great sandwiches there, so here I am. And my favorite poboy, especially being from New Orleans, is the hot sausage patty poboy. I have had the links and don't care for them. This poboy was excellent, the store was clean, and the staff was friendly. They have real New Orleans poboy bread, so kudos and kisses for that. I get my poboys dressed with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and sometimes pickles (when I'm feeling picky). Yes, I made up the word prickly because sometimes I have a taste for pickles and sometimes I don't. Anyway, try this location and you won't be disappointed. Just look at my pictures! Although, for the time that I'm speaking of, 15 years ago, I don't recall it being named Dolly's Deli, but i digress... On this day of my visit, I only purchased gas at the pump. The pump was antiquated, but all i really cared about was the gas inside and my ability to keep driving on this beautiful Saturday afternoon; shallow huh? But anyway, where was I, oh yeah the antiquation of the pump, yeah, it wasn't on the best side of the aesthetically pleasing, but it was modern as it accepted that insertion of the credit card for payment of gas. "Well, what this place lacks in feeling safe, it makes up for in cheap as heck gas.I don't know what it is about this gas station, but they seem to be able to keep their gas 5 to 10 cents lower than any other gas station in the area. With that said, the place is a little sketchy. I've been a few times and sometimes the card scanner on some of the pumps won't work and there always seems to be people just lurking around for no good reason. Also, the little "latch" on the pumps, that you hook so that your gas pumps without having to hold it, doesn't work on any of the pumps I've tried, so be warned if touching all over a gas pump is an issue for you. Mike C. "I've been patronizing Sterling Express Gas for approximately 7 years now; although I only go there perhaps once or twice a month. The station is actually owned by New Orleans Native Wendell Pierce, so I like the fact that it's locally owned and "operated". (FYI - Don't go there expecting Pierce to be ringing you at the cash register.)Sterling carries Shell gas, but they are far from being the lowest price in town. Current prices as yesterday (9/4/16) are $2.09 for regular, $2.51 for mid-grade and $2.81 for premium. I often fill up my company cars and trucks here because it is conveniently located near the Port of New Orleans and I pass there all the time. Be warned that when getting gas, the video monitors/TV's at the pumps automatically start playing messages/commercials and the volume is so loud that it will startle you if you are not paying attention. Kudos to the large truck style diesel pumps on the opposite side of the building of the gas pumps. It's wide lanes, tall overhead and absence of car traffic makes it easy for 18 wheelers to get their fuel here. The inside of the store is your typical convenience store, with all the normal selections of coffee, sodas, juices, power drinks, beer, hard liquor and cigarettes. There's even a fried chicken "restaurant" inside named Champs that sells chicken, chicken strips, livers and gizzards. I've never tried it but there's always a line so it must be pretty good.I see a lot of negative reviews for Sterling Express, but I've never had any issues here, other than a long line at the cashier. However, I would probably only recommend going here during daylight hours, as this area can be sketchy at night."
