"What a night! Definitely the best experience our whole week in Louisiana! This is a must if you are out this way. You will not be disappointed. I fish occasionally but never with a bow. The crew made me feel comfortable and were patient willing showing me the ropes. The night was beautiful! The crew was professional, know the area inside and out, feed folks with what was caught, and gave me such an outstanding memory. Thank you!! We will be back!"
"I absolutely cannot speak highly enough of Salty Dog Charters! Honestly, our day trip out with Captain Markham Dickson is one of the best things I've ever done in New Orleans. (And you guys have been to New Orleans, right? So, like, you know how great everything is there, right?) Even if you're not necessarily looking to fish, which we weren't, they're happy to take you out for a day on the water that will be amazing! Though our trip was about something else (we were spreading ashes at sea), Captain Markham made sure we got to do some really fun stuff. We fed pelicans, saw some awesome wildlife (including some large fish, crabs, otters, and more), and did a bit of net fishing. We also saw some really cool spots, like small islands and a fishing cabin. If you're looking to fish, or just looking for a unique fun day out, you have to check out Salty Dog Charters! Trust me, it's awesome!"
"Campo's Marina is awesome! We met our Salty Dog Charters boat here and we had the best day out on the water. Campo's is a great spot to get bait and start your day. And, if you're looking for a charter, I cannot recommend Salty Dog Charters highly enough! They'll start your trip right here and give you the absolute best trip ever! Regardless of whether you plan to take a charter or go out fishing on your own, Campo's Marina is a great place to start!"
"Great time and super helpful guides. Definitely a fun activity to try out with a small group!"
"Highly HIGHLY recommend BIG Dog Charters......Susan was very helpful in setting up our trip.....Capt Dave is a fabulous guide and terrific host!!!!"
"A must when exploring Louisiana! Our tour guide was wonderful and very informative. This tour on the air boat has made it to my favorite excursion ever. I held a baby alligator. Totally recommend!"
"This is your guy. Stop looking and book with him. We are really glad that we did.My lovely lady chartered a trip for me for my birthday and we had a blast. Easy going, informative, beautiful scenery, a ton of fish (we caught our limit), enough jokes and intelligent conversation to keep us going and enough silence to get us in that zen place only a good fishing trip can. Caught trout, red fight, drum, sheepshead, and a few others I think."
"Amazing fishing trip! We went with Captain Larry and had a blast. If you're in to fishing and you're going to be in Slidell, give them a go."
"This place is amazing! Not far from good fishing either. This place has everything you need to have a perfect day on the water and if you are lucky you can book a trip with Miles to take you out on the water!"
"Our party of 3 are visiting from Texas and went out with Captain Ed on a fishing charter. One of us has fishing experience the other 2 absolutely do not. Captain Ed was so patient and kind. We have had the BEST experience! When we were done he processed our fish to create filets, dropped us off at our hotel and brought our catch to a restaurant he recommended that turned into our dinner for the evening. We highly recommend without any reservations. He is an expert in the area, had the best customer service and acted like a true professional! Can't sing his praises enough!"

This was my first time bow-fishing and Captain Matt was very helpful. Although I didn't shoot anything (user error), it was a fun experience aside from the traditional fishing. I would highly recommend it.

Captain Markham is great. His laid-back personality was refreshing for a charter captain. He never once barked, used foul language, or was rude to our group. I want to come back and bring my family. I think his gentle touch and patience to teach would be perfect for less-experienced fishermen. Best part, he put us right on the fish and we caught em! He adjusted to our preference to catch more big reds. He has a good relationship with other captains and they work together to try to make sure everyone catches fish. I highly recommend!

Awesome spot to get your bait, your gas and on the water to catch your fish. Excellent customer service and you are minutes away from the fishing action.

My family-and-friends group of 7 spent 3 nights in their newly remodeled cabin. Wow! Really luxe digs for "down on the bayou." Susan and Dave run a terrific service and provide everything for a big group to enjoy their fishing trip. I fished mostly with Dave during our time there and I really recommend him as a guide. He put us right on the fish and was a pleasure to hang out with. Made and already fun trip even more fun. He was great company. I can't recommend Dave and Susan highly enough. They do such a good job with everything and pay close attention to detail. I'm not an easy guy to please, and they exceeded expectations on all fronts.

We were visiting New Orleans with 6 other friends for the Cardinals vs Saints game and HAD to get a swamp tour in while we were there. We chose Big Easy and absolutely loved it!! Captain Chris was beyond amazing and made the experience even better. We got our own private boat and truly enjoyed every minute of the tour. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a tour of the bayou!!

"Picked up shrimp from here a couple of times while I was in town. We picked up about 14 lbs each time. The prices are unbeatable! I live in a landlocked state where shrimp is far more expensive and not nearly as fresh. We got our shrimp in the afternoon, it had been caught earlier that day. They usually will shrimp out of state but due to Ida have not resumed that service. Once they do I will order from them for sure! I highly recommend them if you are looking for some fresh shrimp."
"One of the nicest captains around! CJ took us to the best areas to catch fish and with in seconds we hooked up. CJ makes sure that you come home with fish. When they clean the fish, it is quick and clean, and he left zero bones!"
"Hopedale Marina (formerly Breton Sound Marina) in Hopedale (is there really an "in" Hopedale?) is a full-service stop for fishermen and duck hunters needing ice, food, fuel, boat launch, live or dead bait, vehicle storage... pretty much everything you'd imagine would be offered by a marina located at the end of the Earth.Just kidding. The end of the Earth is another two and a half hours south of Hopedale, by car, but you can get there quicker if you launch from Hopedale Marina. The Marina is set alongside Bayou La Loutre, an earlier course of the Mississippi River, and, following the bayou across the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO), fishermen easily reach Stump Lagoon, Muscle Bay and other hot spots in the Biloxi Wildlife Management Area.A note about MRGO: the artificial waterway was always an environmental and financial failure, and thankfully, was "de-authorized" and dammed in 2009 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. But access to the southeast side of the channel from Hopedale is missed, as it provided quick and easy access for boaters headed into Lake Athanasio, Eloi or Black Bays, and of course, Breton Sound. The boat ride to get outside is a bitch, and these days, we're just as likely to fish Lake Jean Louis Robin, Lake Coquille or Grand Pass.A final note: don't try to launch on Opening Day of duck season if you're not hunting ducks. My buddy Keith and I fished out of a private camp near the Marina one November, without having checked the calendar, and we found the pre-dawn road to Hopedale choked with boat-towing pickups, each full of heavily armed men who'd been awake for hours and who were anxious to shoot stuff. Better to wait a day or two.Hopedale Marina: https://www.facebook.com/hopedalemarina/"
"The most enjoyable weekend of my life! Myself and two of my best buddies spent two nights with our guide Stafford on a house boat, in the swamp, 25 miles from civilization. We jug fished for our breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were very successful. We caught 2 alligator gars (one being 6' long 100#s) 1 Needle gars, 12+ catfish, 24+ crabs. It was opening weekend of squirrel season, so our guide provided some for dinner. We frogged for hours and caught 20+ by hand. It was epic. We are sitting in a restaurant FRESH off the boat / Bayou, we are already planning our return!!!!"
"We came from Texas. Had a great night with Roy and Brett. Four of us in the party and three hit fish with the bow. We had a great time. Brett was a very good teacher and showed us what to do and how to do it. He was good at helping spot fish as well. Definitely recommend this again."
"Sportsman's Paradise is a hotel, restaurant and fishing charter marina. We were in Chauvin and decided to eat lunch here. The lunch was pretty good. The service was mediocre. We ordered shrimp gumbo, bronzed shrimp, a shrimp platter, a shrimp salad and an oyster po-boy.The shrimp gumbo was very good. Although it was a only a cup, it had a good amount of large shrimp. The shrimp platter was very good as well. The shrimp were butterflied (I prefer non-butterflied) and fried perfectly. The platter came loaded with fries and four pieces of toast. The shrimp salad had homemade ranch which was excellent. The bronzed shrimp and po-boy both looked good, but I didn't try either. Our server seemed disinterested and never brought some of our party utensils. She wasn't very friendly either. The food made up for the poor service. If your in Chauvin, and want a good seafood meal, head to Sportsman's paradise.I should also mention that they sell really cool t-shirts. The shirts list several famous cities and have a recognizable image for each city. Check the photos and you will see one."
"If you're looking for a great experience, Jason will not let you down. My wife and I both had a blast fishing during our vacation, (she's never fished before) he was patient and showed her the ropes and made it fun for us both. He even let her reel in a few that he had on the line, but shortly after she caught a few of her own. He took us to multiple spots and kept the whole experience fun. Definitely a great charter captain!"
"This was my first fishing charter in Louisiana but the families second. Cajun Fishing and Hunting Charters, under the direction of Anthony Kyzar, is far above what you would expect. He will make your fishing trip an event to remember. On the trip Anthony was not happy until everyone in our party caught at least one, if not more, fish. Upon returning, Anthony cleaned our catch and gave us a portion to take to a local restaurant to be prepared for a very enjoyable lunch."
"Joel was an awesome guide and put us on the fish all day! He had great stories and expert knowledge of the local fishery. While fishing with Joel my wife and I caught a lot of fish including redfish, black drum, sheepshead, catfish, croaker, stingray, and an alligator gar. By far one of the top charters that I have ever fished with, highly recommended!"
"A trip to New Orleans... You must experience the bayou. There are plenty of parking. I highly recommend going in the morning especially when the weather is warm.Bring bug spray. If you are like me, bugs love me!Came here September 2018. It was warm. It was closer to 11am. We had hats. We also had umbrellas. There is trail. A lovely board walk that is well kept. It is very accessible for all ages and all abilities. Wheelchairs accessible is a plus in my book!Lots of huge dragon flies and big butterflies here. Some bugs we couldnt see but we sure can HEAR THEM!!!!Didn't see a gator. We were looking though! Check this trail out! It's nice!"
"Hands down one of my favorite experiences with a guide. Captain Peter was hard working, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure my girlfriend and I had a great day. His boat is tidy and clean with quality gear to match. I look forward to fishing with him in the future!"
"Justin Breaux was our charter captain. He made the whole experience seem-less and exciting. We caught 14 snappers. Even if we hadn't caught anything though Justin was such a joy to be around. He was an excellent DJ and flexible with us on when we got there. We were running a little late so he was kind enough to take a sunrise photo for us. He helped me with the casting, netting, bait - all of it! This guy knows what he is doing. Highly recommend! He even offered us a place to shower to get the salt water off. My date said the showers were really clean."
"Having a great time here. We are wrapping up our second evening, after our first day on the water. Captain Dave was our guide/captain for the day. Had to wait out an early morning thunderstorm that delayed us for about an hour. After that Cpt. Dave took us out. The winds were up all day, but he stayed the course and we came back with our dinner, plus. We had to move around a bit to catch em, but we were fishing instead of just casting, which is cool by me. The food was delicious and in no short supply. There were snacks everywhere but I never got to them. We had a full breakfast at 5:30am, sandwiches on the water, a serious Cajun flavored lunch after returning off the water. Last but not least our dinner was served on the half shell, made fresh from our days catch. Can't wait to do more catching and eating to"
"Great morning out fishing with Colby, the new owner. Nice guy and very knowledgeable of the area and the fish...we had caught our limit by 7:30! When we got back in, our fish were cleaned and we were served delicious jambalaya plus we got to check out the newly remodeled rooms (we stayed elsewhere). This would be a great destination for a guys trip, families, fishing couples, you name it."
"Late February, perfect weather. Eric's boat is clean, well equipped with everything you need, all the gear: GPS, thermal imaging, radar (bring your own food). He knows where to find the fish and we caught our limits in record time - redfish, sheepshead and drum. The drum was huge so we put it back. We scoped about four different places and thoroughly enjoyed the fishing.Eric is a great host and we look forward to fishing with him again. Thanks, Frank and thanks Captain Eric."
"Although the setting is beautiful, the property has some serious issues. So, outside at night is impossible due to the insects which are awful. The property could use a screened porch. Inside we found lizards and large cock roaches (2-3 inch bugs) just a few but still unsettling. Deck area has multiple hornet nests as well. They do have nice kayaks, however they were full of spiders. The location is extremely hard to get delivery from anywhere and Uber's are not thrilled to come out after 5:00 as the Ferry shuts down and the driven path is through some sketchy areas. The actual bedrooms living space is beautiful but they need to do something about the bugs and the service/amenities. It's quite expensive for not having much other than the quite location. Hard to get groceries at all in the area. We were there for a wedding venue down the road... they really need to get some local establishments to deliver!"
