"Wow my last review is almost 11 years old! 9 Roses is still one of the OG Vietnamese restaurants in the GNO. Service is good and the restaurant is always clean and the parking lot is easy to navigate. Accessibility for those in wheelchairs is also good."

"If you like a funky stripped down place that is a bit difficult to spot and has all the ambiance and decoration of a laundromat then this is the place for you.Walked there last week in the heat and humidity.Most folks seemed to be getting their food to go but we ate outside under a canopy in the somewhat disheveled back yard and it was fine as there was a ceiling fan back there.While they bring your food out to you it is up to you to get knives, forks, napkins etc.The hostess was very friendly and informative and the food was first rate.The lone chef was very businesslike in the tiny kitchen but he obviously is very talented.Great value.Will definitely return next time we are in New Orleans.Hopefully by then they would have hired some nearby high school kids to paint murals on the blank walls!"

"I don't have high expectations for Americanized Chinese food, so it's usually all pretty decent to me. However, China Rose is one of the best in New Orleans in my opinion!China Rose is consistently good and a little different from other area Chinese places. If you want Mandarin chicken, you can order Mandarin chicken, of course! But, they also offer items that are a little unique compared to other area restaurants. ( I think they also offer possibly a little more authentic dishes too!) One thing to keep in mind is that they close earlier than other Chinese restaurants in our area. The portions are fair and similar to the amount you would expect to get at a Chinese restaurant. They don't skimp on the meats either! Plus, I've never gotten a bite full of tendons and fat on their chicken dishes, so I'm always happy with the quality of their chicken. (I don't eat beef or pork too often, so I can't speak for those)When we get food from here, we always get the Singapore noodles. They're fantastic! The dish consists of thin curried noodles, which are not very saucy, but they're packed full of flavor! It has veggies and meat sautéed and mixed in as well. I suppose this is an Indian-Chinese fusion type dish, and it's pretty unique! It's also not a greasy dish, so I usually feel that it's a fulling, but lighter meal on the stomach. I highly recommend this one!We've tried a good number of their other dishes, and they've all been good, but I particularly like the shrimp with mixed vegetables as a combination dish platter. It comes with shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. It's shrimp and vegetables sautéed in a common savory sauce, just as the name would suggest. This one isn't very unique, but I like it!"

"First time here but It was a good mealEgg drop soup, is silky and delicious. Smoothe butter creamy flavor. I normally add more so sauce for testing this before I put salt or pepper or soy sauce.I did add a few drops and This really good.I tried one of those work steam dumplings in a grabbed it was super tasty I recommend trying at least one dumpling in the egg drop soup. Soy sauce for me is great but this allows for a less salty alternative. I got the chicken low mein and it was cooked nicely a few pieces of chicken were chewy but over all the dish had good flavor and texture.I am not a mushroom person so next time I will need to remember to ask for no mushroom. They ingredient are stated on the menu that was my mistake. The mushroom were cooked to a good tenderness. The egg roll that comes with the meal was not my favorite egg roll recipe but other may like this style."

The auto-generated text told me the food would be ready in about 20 minutes. I ran a couple of errands and came back about 30 minutes later. I was surprised that I never received a follow-up confirmation that the order was ready to go, but it was there waiting for me just the same.The food itself was pretty standard takeout Chinese food. There wasn't enough sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken, but it was filling in the way that all Chinese food is--you stuff yourself silly and then are hungry again within the hour. At least the serving size was good for the price, so I could have my second helping later!"

The curry was yummy too, with the vegetables not being overcooked at all. The chicken was plentiful, soft and tender for both dishes. They didn't skimp at all! The curry here was not very spicy, so be sure to ask for extra heat if that's what you're into!Pick-up was quick (15 minutes for the food to be ready after placing the order), easy and pandemic-safe (a small window to accept your food and pay for it, so you don't have to go into the restaurant at all).My only complaint is that the neighborhood seems a little dicey. I went to pick-up my food with my boyfriend close to 10pm, and I didn't feel completely safe. (Nothing happened though!) I would probably not choose this location to go to alone at night as a young female. I'll just go pick-up for lunch!"

Perfectly fried and the batter was flaky and delicious. The little dudes rarely eat all of the chicken on their plates, but they were fighting over the last bite tonight. Or was that me? Whatever, it was good stuff.The appetizer sampler came out hot, fresh, and piled high. I tore through my chicken wing first and would go back just for an order of these babies. The Cho Cho, Crab Rangoon, and Temoura Shrimp were all pretty standard, but it is definitely a high standard. The egg rolls, too, were done well and were hot and crispy. The sauce is sweet and tangy, but I like mine spicy, so I kicked it up with some mustard. I would have really enjoyed some chili oil in it, though. Still, it was good and went fast!We ordered the Mongolian Beef entree. It comes with either white rice or combination fried rice; we got the fried rice. This was the only part of the meal I didn't care for. There wasn't much flavor and the rice was overcooked. Of course, it was the last half hour of the day, so I imagine they probably do a pretty good job most of the time, but most of the rice was left in the bowl when we were done. The Mongolian Beef, though, what a knock out! Fresh and crunchy vegetables, perfectly cooked strips of beef, with a sauce that was just spicy enough to make the Petunia and me smile big big. A dash of soy sauce and we were off and chomping. I wish there had been more beef, but that isn't the chef's fault; Petunia was on a roll with her fork. To be fair, we worked in the yard all day and this was our first meal, but I am writing this with a watering mouth thinking about that dish and wishing I had some more beef!First time here, but we will definitely be back; good food and great service are hallmarks of a good restaurant, and these guys are really good."

There are no rubbery mushrooms, no uncooked greens, no big chunks. Every ingredient is incorporated perfectly, like the thin ribbons of cabbage that come on the general tso's tofu/chicken. Everything I've had is like this!If you go to Red Star to pick up or dine in what you'll find is a very small space, with just two tables. That's typical for takeout restaurants, but what sets Red Star apart is just how clean and organized it is. Absent is the clutter or grime I associate with takeout places, in its place there's clean floors, clear windows, and a wall of real, living plants!The lady who runs the counter is nice. She communicates well, packages the food securely, and is amenable to special requests like "I want an extra 8oz container of general tso's sauce." Service like that is just great.Red Star may not be fancy, but it is the tastiest, most consistent takeout I've ever had. Best of all, it's still cheap! I'll be a loyal customer as long as they're in town."

"Classic Americanized Chinese food done right. I have eaten here numerous times over the last 10 years. I've consistently ordered the same thing every time. The lunch plate "shrimp with garlic sauce". It comes with shrimp fried rice and fried wontons. If you dine in, you also get a cup of some delicious hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. I always opt for the hot and sour soup. Yesterdays lunch was no different. The veggies are so fresh and cooked perfectly, the shrimp is deveined and plentiful. There's plenty of egg, veggie and shrimp in the fried rice. The fried wontons are basic...and I wish it came with an egg roll but for the price (11.00) it can't be beat. The service is good. They check on you regularly and leave you alone if you take work calls or meetings. The inside is no frills diner but the back booths are super comfortable and cozy."

This ended up being the last thing I ate on a flight out of the city. I always try to grab a little something for the plane ride, and in a rush ordered the shrimp po boy, not knowing the amazing quality of the meal I was about to enjoy miles in the sky. Damn. I wish I had more to say, I know this is one of my favorite po boys in the city (right up there with Verti Marte). The fry on that shrimp was so perfectly textured and seasoned, I miss this sandwich so much. They also serve breakfast, fried chicken, and Chinese food."
