Amazing! A beautiful nature oasis. From mossy oaks to sunflowers, there is so much to look at here!Located right off the interstate or on Essen Lane, the Burden Gardens is Baton Rouge's hidden gem. Besides just looking at nature or going on a nature walk for free, there are several events that take place here regularly. Junior League has a kid-friendly event under the outdoor the gazebo each month, there is the Louisiana Lights event in December, and a corn maze in Oct. This place is huge! There is a meeting place, which is easily accessible when you pull in. There are also places to stop and sit and go to the restroom. A great place to explore!!

These gardens are beautiful. Nice walking area. Several trails to hike on. Wear good shoes to walk in, bring some water to stay hydrated. There is some play equipment for the children, and lovely labeled gardens. Seriously. This is all so very pretty. Great place to bring visitors on a budget. There always seems to be an event of some sort going on. Lovely spot for a picnic, bring friends and play frisbee, meditate, relax. It is centrally located to a wide variety of hot spots nearby for food, entertainment and shopping. Stop and smell the flowers. You won't regret it.

This is a great place to take young kids. Plenty of space to run around, nice shaded areas, some equipment to play on, and pretty gardens to explore. They also have a couple miles of hiking trails that are quite wooded, which is nice since you are right in the middle of the interstate. This area is a little BR gem.

We just left an amazing event hosted by the Baton Rouge master gardeners association! Part of the children's gardening series - the burden center opened its doors for kids to learn about birds and where they nest and what they eat. This is just one in a long line of great family oriented events that we have enjoyed at the Burden center. From the fall festival to the Halloween events , Arbor Day and everything in between. It is always something educational as well as fun. Cost is generally low and younger toddlers are free which makes it very easy for us to enjoy as an entire family. They either have access to their facility restrooms or provide port a potties all of the events which is also very appreciated! Take a stroll down the children's garden for free as well, check out what they are growing there and then have a taste of the locally harvested honey and tomatoes!

The gardens are beautiful and definitely a lovely place to retreat from your everyday hustle and bustle. Come frolic in the gardens, sit on the wooden chair swing, rock on the see-saw and/or sway from the tree swing. A picturesque spot for photos or grab a book and enjoy the outside air and relax. My family and I visited this past weekend and were thrilled to be outside now that fall has arrived. Experience a sense of calmness and serenity here. The ambiance is rustic and the gardens are lush. Children will especially enjoy the wide, open space to play and laugh. Burden Center also has a beautiful private space for special events, too. Make sure to check out for your next shindig. It's also located in the same area as The Rural Life Museum. If you're planning for a staycation, pop by here for some meditation and relaxation time.

My boyfriend of 4 years proposed in front of the Orangerie! This is such a picture-perfect venue for any event! Sadly we won't have our wedding there due to our guest and wedding party population exceeding the maximum capacity, but this is such a beautiful location!!!!

These gardens are beautiful! Perfect for bridal portraits, engagement pictures or family pictures! There are benches to sit and admire the garden. A swing to relax on. And there is a private building to hold events, such as weddings at. It's so relaxing and peaceful to stroll through the gardens. I love the fountain, surrounded by flowers!

Nice walking trails, beautiful seasonal flowers. The playground is shaded. For a few, you can walk through the slave cabins on the property. Very nice way to get in touch with nature in the city.

Greatest patch of wilderness in BR and in Louisiana as a whole. Quiet and service sets this place apart-- workers here towed us out of a mud patch on the side of the road and were very courteous. 10/10 and would definitely recommend!
