We discovered this spot years ago during a visit and have been itching to come back ever since. This spot is in the 7th ward and a real locals joint. When you come here, you get yourself a "set", enjoy the music (or play your own from the jukebox) and people watch. To our delight, we have seen some amazing brass players and The Original Pinettes, an all woman brass band, is the highlight for the evening. As long as this spot is open, every time I'm in Nawlins', We will be here.

Well upon arriving here, I must admit I was kinda sketchy because of the name lol. But however once I entered, that notion was quickly cancelled. Man the owner and the local old school guys there showed us the utmost hospitality being from out of town. The atmosphere was great, as well as the bartender and service. Even feed us some of the best Cajun cooking you'd ever wanna eat...."For Free". We still paid them but we had to insist that they accept our gratitude. Much love and respect to the older gentleman! I will definitely be back

Awesome bar and amazing owner. Get a "set up", kick back, and enjoy the always great live music! Got a chance to sit outside on a bench with "Bullet" himself as he told me some fun stories of his history and about his business. One of my best nights in New Orleans!

I learned a new thing here. See the photo attached to this review? You see the canned drink, the small liquor bottle, the cup and ice? It's called a "set-up". They set you up with all you need to make your mixed drink (or drinks) and for a nominal price; like under $10. This is a quintessential, local, non-fancy, super casual, dance all night, kind of neighborhood bar. The night we went, there was an all ladies secondline band performing and it was a good ole time. I danced til I sweat my makeup off.

Yooooo!!! We love this place! We fell through here for the first time in 2011. Music was sensational, great vibe. I feel most at home in little juke joint dives and this is it. We visited last week during voodoo fest. Barbie was amazing! So friendly and fun. The 3 piece and lady performing Sunday night (didn't catch their name) were awesome! They even let my friend, Corey Mac, sit in for a song! This place is legit and really has a soul of its own! We will fa sho be back on our next trip down.

Damn you Bullets. I can't stop thinking about this place. When I was having lunch @ Willie Mae's our server insisted we come check this place out that night to see the best trumpet player in New Orleans. So what did we do? Go of course! First of all - this is a true neighborhood bar, completely unassuming and somewhat in a seedy area. DO NOT let that deter you from going! Once inside you will be greeted with so many pleasant smiles, faces, music and vibe. There were literally people from all walks of life in here in age, race, cultural background - just a mix of everyone with not a care in the world. First of all the music. Oh the music! If you want a quintessential Nawlins brass bad experience, come on Friday night (yes I went two nights in a row - its thaaaaattt goooood!). The menu is limited but can I just tell you - I had the BEST beans and rice here!! Dead ass! Apparently they have someone grandma in the back who is putting her whole foot (not, literal) in that damn pot. Jesus! And did I mention the guy who walked in selling something out of a bag? I saw him as soon as he came in. I didn't know what he was selling at first - All I knew was that I needed it. Guess what? They were the best home made pralines ever! True story. All I know is that when I return to NOLA, Bullets on Friday night will be my number one stop. Seriously - feed your mind body and soul here. And have a "set" while there. Thank me later!

I'd been wanting to get to Bullet's since DJ Davis got fired for sending a pack of clueless, church-group tourists there on the series Treme. It finally happened last Friday night, and it well worth the wait. The Original Pinettes were layin' it down hard and inspiring some impressive footwork from the crowd. The bartenders kept the party mood coming, and there didn't seem to be a care in the place. Inside and out, everybody had a smile and a friendly word...I can't WAIT to go back!
