Late-night cravings had me settling for whatever was open, and Brothers Chicken always comes through in those moments. Even though the chicken wasn't the freshest this time around, the staff was kind enough to let me taste a piece to make sure I was good with my choice--a thoughtful gesture for sure. Quick in and out, and I left satisfied. A win is a win, ya heard me!

You know you are at Brothers when you pull up and see a line to pump gas during traditional business hours. You would think the gas is free. Cheap gas, great location and 24 hours. This is my go to gas station when near Gentilly. If you are looking for a meal on the go, there is a kitchen here too. Many people swear by their fried chicken but I have steered clear of the cooked goods. You can't go wrong with Brothers locations which are all over the city, but this is definitely one of the best locations.

This is the place to go for all of your tailgating or party needs! Seriously. If your watching a sports balls game of any sort, come in, grab 50 pieces of chicken and all of your sides for a reasonable price. Yes, they have about a dozen gas pumps in front. Yes it is a gas station and convenience store. I will admit that it has taken me awhile to get over the oddness of getting decent food from a gas station, but you can, and you not only won't die because of gas station food (well, you won't die today, and not specifically because something is wrong with the food), but you might enjoy it. The convenience store has plenty of options for liquor, beer, snacks, and other sundry items. Any of the Brothers brand stations have the same great service. It is not your 5 star sit down restaurant, but if you've got a group to feed and they are hungry, this is good enough.

Well seasoned chicken but could've been fresher. I guess you can't expect the freshness at 12AM but other than that I would try again.

Top 3 Fried Chicken in the city. Seriously. Really. A gas station. I read rave reviews for the chicken at Lil Dizzy's (adequate at best) and the classic over touristed and ridiculously over rated Willy Mae's (which lost most of the charm it had when Willie Mae stopped hanging around the kitchen) and laugh. Those down home style places can't come close to the fried delights under the heat lamps manned by hispanics that barely speak English at this Middle Eastern owned gas station. It sounds like I'm being sarcastic, probably because I usually am, but these are the facts. The chickens crunch and flavor is rivaled by only Coops and McHardy's in this city but for $14 you're getting 25 pieces of dark meat. ($16 for 25 pieces if you are one of those fools that don't understand true fried chicken taste and prefer white meat) No tables, obviously, but make sure there aren't too many people at your house to finish the box because like all great fried chicken and wines, it ages very well. For a party we had where we bought our favorite food from around the city, we got 150 pieces for a grand total of about $70 and made believers of an entire crowd...and that was before everybody was blind drunk.Brings back the memory of the incredible era of first few months of Chicken Box (RIP) before they went down hill and eventually closed.Conveniently, if you have to go out of your way to get here, you can fill up on some very cheap gas to get you home. A total package.
