Broadway Bound Costume

Stopped in to this shop to kill some time and so glad I did. Loved the ambiance- there was a colorful assortment of photos of Mardi Gras Indians on the wall. #inspo!! The very friendly employee explained that the original owner made costumes for many years before she passed and the shop now continues in her memory. They sell fabric, appliqués and trims. The selection appears to be geared for people making Mardi Gras carnival costumes but I still found something I could use to make regular streetwear. Prices were reasonable, I got 4 yards of a specialty fabric for under $40. Not as wide a selection as Joanns of course but what it lacks in size it makes up for in character & niche materials. I recommend stopping by!

Old school costume supply shop. Feathers, beads (by the hank and loose), notions, sequins, material etc.The small shop is easy to miss on this section of canal street but worth it to slow down and find it.Ring the bell to be buzzed in and be prepared to step back in time.The wooden framed glass cabinets hold appliqués and beads and sequins and all the things Mardi Gras and for every other costuming holiday in New Orleans.Bolts of fabric line the right hand wall and ticked here and there you will find so many things.The ladies are helpful - but don't suffer fools. The seamstresses in the back work away to make costumes all year long.Stop in a while and see what they have. Bring a project and they will help you find the right color or sequins or beads or feathers.

I came in 10 minutes before closing and she looks a little irritated I was even there. I said I have a head dress in my car and asked if I could bring it in to figure out what feathers I needed. She very bluntly said "No, Im closing soon". I said thank you and walked out, headed to Jefferson Variety and got the same feathers at half the price (and spent a few hundred $ on them that she could have had). oh that old school New Orleans customer service... Ive got no patience for it.

They have gems, feathers, fabric etc. They'll take care of you in a professional focused manner. It's a charming location. I highly recommend going in here. I came in here off-peak and I had their undivided attention.

A complete waste of time driving over & parking. Cold, unfriendly service & very little selection
