What a great little bar. I came out here from California looking for an escape from the ridiculous covid restrictions we wave andookong to spend some time with my family in Louisiana. We landed in NOLA just to find out they went back to lockdown mode too. Needles to say I was bummed. My cousin picked me up and took me to the brickyard so I wouldn't be bored. Its a rad little bar. It has the dive hipster feel but its got it own unique look. Random art everywhere, cool red lighting, and a chill crowd. It started to rain and the owner and his crew even tarped off the patio so we could enjoy the projector outside. They had to go back to outside only because of the dumbass PLANdemic. Even though I personally believe this whole covid hoax is bullshit they took all the precautions of keep their staff and customers safe. They did it without being jerks too. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner as well. Solid dude with a laid back attitude. Next time I'm in town visiting the fam ill definitely drop in for a few drinks. To the owner stay strong and keep fighting! You've got this. (I apologize but your name has slipped my mind.) Probably all the Avion Tequila shots. Lmao

Walking into Brickyard is like walking into cheers. The bartenders know me and my favorite drink (gin martini, dirty, extra olives) and mix it TO PERFECTION, plus they alway give service with a smile. There's always great music - live or otherwise - and the patrons aren't bad to look at or chill with either ;-P There's free food every weekend and, of course, zombie prom around Halloween.BONUS: They have Galaga!!!!!

It's a dive bar, alright. It's located right under the Mississippi I-10 bridge. When we pulled up, I was a little skeptical about the location, what I mean by that is I wouldn't feel comfortable walking alone at night to or from the car. When we entered the bar, we were welcomed by a nice bartender and a very heavy smoke filled bar. I can't stand that smell! What I didn't like were the bar stools, the cushions were ripped and the stool wobbled every time I shifted my weight. That was super annoying. This bar attracts mostly college students, I can see why. The beer is cheap (yay!), and on Tuesdays they serve free Tacos. They also play Trivia Night and who ever wins gets free drinks. I had an okay time, would I go back? I don't think so. I don't like coming home smelling like a cigarette, the free tacos were great, but they didn't settle well with my stomach (I should have known :/ )

This is my favorite bar. That's all there is. It was my favorite bar before Danny showed up and it's only been better since he brought his personality over from port royal. It's been almost remodeled since his arrival. The walls have been painted and incredible local artowrd has been added to every wall. Louisiana visitors, if you love dive bars, this is what they are capable of. P.S. enjoy the music

I've been to BS three times. The first time was midweek around 4ish. I had a good cocktail and a nice conversation with the owner, Danny. I had my toy Schnauzer with me and I was happy to find another doggie friendly establishment in the downtown area. The second time I ventured to BS was for a chicken wing cook off competition. The wings were great and it was hard to choose a winner. The bar patrons were obviously regulars, and they were friendly and welcoming to a newby. My third experience to BS will be my last especially after my phone conversation with the owner and his obvious unwillingness to deal with an out-of-control so called "dog friendly" establishment. From the minute I parked in front of BS I was harassed by a large hairy yellow dog that was unleashed. I was also harassed by the dog's owner and her friends. I asked the owner to leash her dog so my two 8 lb dogs and myself could pass. She leashed the dog on a retractable leash and then proceeded to allow the dog full range on the leash. I had to pick up both my dogs to enter. The whole time she and her friends were belittling me. Once I was inside, I asked the manager to escort me to my car. As he escorted me to my car, the owners of the big yellow dog continued with their intimidation. Initially I really liked BS. I was hoping to spread the word to my responsible dog owning friends that this was a cool place to hang out before or after a sunset walk on the levee. Now, all I can say is bring your dogs at your own risk. You will probably encounter unleashed dogs and irresponsible dog owners.
