Bonnabel Boat Launch Park

Lovely little dog park, playground and green space right on the lake with parking and connecting to the levee bike path. Gorgeous view! There's also space to launch a boat or kayak if you want to do that. BEWARE OF ALLIGATORS!!!!!!! The signs aren't a joke! Especially if you are there with a pet, have great caution when near the water. I say this because many people take their dogs down to the pavilion by the boat launch because that's where the hose is located. Keep your dog on a SHORT leash and beware of your surroundings. Gators like to hang there right around the corner.

My most recent visit here was to the Crime Stoppers event in October 2017. A co-worker was telling me about this event, and let me tell you, it was so very cool! The Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Department was here, as was the city police, members of the morgue (the live ones that work there, not the dead ones you silly goose), the SPCA was there with some animals, and so much more. Ideas for home protection were popular booths here as well. There were also booths set up giving hot dogs and soda at no cost to the public. There was a live band on stage.Now lets get to the park itself. There is an area specifically for dog that is small but enclosed. There are picnic tables and a couple of boat launches. You can access the walking trail that extends along the south side of the waterfront. This is between the levy and the water of the lake, so I am sure they block it off during storms.Great place to go to for some family bonding time.

What a beautiful view! I don't have a boat, we just came out for the view. You can sit on the bank and have a picnic while watching the boats on the water. There is a playground for the kids and a dog park for the dogs. It really is a beautiful place to have a picnic or just relax!

The Bonnabel Boat Launch is a great place to spend some time outdoors. Of course as the name implies, there are several boat launch areas allowing you to explore Lake Pontchartrain by boat or jet ski- but this little area has so much more to offer! There is a relatively small, but fully functioning dog park. We loved to visit this park when Gypsy was a pup (and only dog)! She loved running through the tunnel and jumping over the agility bars.There is a well kept play area for children. Matthew isn't quite old enough yet to utilize the equipment, but I'm sure we will begin visiting this area frequently over the next year. They have a great walking path along the lake that is perfect for biking, running or walking with a stroller, as well as a few piers where you can cast a few lines and try your luck fishing. Finally there's what everyone comes here for- the views! Most of the time we just like to park the truck in the lot near the lake and just sit to people watch and enjoy the scenery. It's the perfect spot to kick back with a few drinks or some snoballs! I love the Bonnabel Boat Launch! It's the perfect place to spend time with family and friends enjoying each others company and the great outdoors.

Loving the new (well new to me) renovations. Walking/fishing pier, re-paved boat launch, additional lighting, directional signs. This has looooooooooong been a go to "think place for me". Not sure of the hours of operation, but whenever I go, day, night, midnight, wee-hours of the morning, it's open, HOO-RAH!!!!. I've seen lots of activity here from the mundane to the not so mundane; it's all good though, never anything criminal or alarming. I feel relaxed when I go here; guess that's why I continue to visit.The mood here is CHILL, Live & Let live. Great place to check out. It's like an oasis in the middle of no-where.

This is a sweet little park at the end of Bonnabel Blvd. on the lake. Its main purpose is that it is a public boat launch, but, it is so much more. There is a fenced off dog park, a section of playground equipment, a huge grassy area that is perfect for throwing down a blanket or watching the sunset. There is also a large dock that you can hang out on over the water.I went for the first time yesterday with my work people. We set up a volley ball net. We brought a BBQ grill. We basically took over the place and had a great time!

This place is GREAT! Provided you have or like the following:-A boat or jetski. Plenty of parking for trucks with trailors and free launching-a dog. A nice dog park that is again free to let you pooch run free and hump other dogs.-little kids. I have kids but they are now smart ass, back talking, little shits who would rather not play on their nice jungle gym-an ass to sit. While I have an ass; sitting and watching the waves is something I can only do for 5 minutes before my ADD kicks in and I gotta move again.All of these things are great here if you enjoy that. There is also a 1 mile jogging/walking path that takes you towards Bucktown that is nicely paved along the levee.What they don't have is a bike path. Well they kind of do. It's 1 mile long and not worth the time as I learned this past Sunday when I wanted to get a 20 mile ride in. (I was told by an apparently unrealiable source that they had a 5 mile path here). It looks as though it is being built but won't be ready for sometime. That's ok Bonnabel boat launch, I'll take my spandex covered ass else where for now.

This is usually a pretty good boat launch. Only two of the launches were available today, but it wasn't busy so it didn't matter. We didn't have to wait to launch the boat.There were people all over at the dog park, under the gazebo, even throwing a birthday party. It seems people still utilize this boat launch and it's nice pier. I even saw a few people catching fish.This is a great little park to check out.

The Bonnabel Boat Launch is a great little park.~Great walking/biking/running path along the lake with parking lot~Nice area to just go and watch the waves roll in~They have recently added a fenced in doggie park ~Recently added some playground equipment for the kiddies~Great location if you live in Metairie~If you have a boat you and back it into the lake (hence the name.. Bonnabel Boat Launch)A cool little place to hang out in Metairie on a nice fall day!

We have been here a few times, it was OK, but the other day it was a disaster Much of the grass is gone, dirt surfaces and of course holes everywhere from dogs digging. Someone brought many plastic buckets like from home depot and propped them in the holesContainers of water here and there, we guess because the water fountains do not work?The place obviously is not being maintained
