If you're looking for a taste of authentic Cajun cuisine, Blue Bayou on Canal Street is a must-visit! During our recent meal, we were blown away by the red fish--it truly was the best we've ever had. It came perfectly plated with a delightful crab cake beneath and a rich crawfish Cajun sauce, accompanied by a generous portion of jambalaya. While the jambalaya resembled dirty rice, it still packed great flavor. The seafood platter, featuring catfish and fried shrimp, was good but felt a bit heavy on the fried side for my taste. The oyster thrash shrimp and crawfish sautéed in garlic butter was another highlight, although we were left puzzled by the name as it contained no oysters! The atmosphere was lively, reminiscent of a chic DC spot, but the live music, while entertaining, was a tad too loud for our dinner conversation, causing us to raise our voices to be heard.Overall, Blue Bayou delivered an unforgettable dining experience, and we can't wait to return during our next trip to the city! Highly recommended!

If I could give zero stars I would. Let's start with the hostesses -- one word rude. There was a line and no organization and no list . You just stand there and hope you are called . We were not so when I inquired I was seated. The floor was wet so be careful walking. The sever warned us about the delay in food prep but he underestimated the delay. When we received the food the oysters were burnt, food was cold and the shrimp and grits had golf ball size lumps. The drinks were bad too. Place is overpriced and a BIG NO! The manager was notified but no apology just said ok and walked away. Do not go here!!

This place was nice and busy for a Saturday night. There was live music and with the lights dim it was a mood. The waiters were really friendly and recommended good drinks to us. My bf got stuffed red fish which he absolutely loved and I got shrimp and grits. It was my first time having fried green tomatoes which is included in the dish those were really good but overall the dish was a bust for me. The grits were really thick and clumpy so the texture threw me off.

Eh, definitely an over priced menu. A dozen chargrilled oysters topped with crawfish & crab was $65 which included a 10% gratuity. Our server was ok, The place is big, live entertainment, trees, nice size bar.

Popped in here for lunch on our way to an excursion. Restaurant was fairly empty. It was nice inside. My boyfriend ordered the jambalaya, which he said was just okay. Barely any meat, small portion of rice. I don't eat seafood so my options were fairly limited. I opted for a burger. It was pretty good- a standard burger. Nothing special, but good nonetheless. Fries were okay. Again, I've had better. Our waitress was meh. She was not super attentive and spent more time socializing than anything else. My boyfriend and I both ran out of soda mid-meal, and she did not come check on us or notice to refill our drinks. It wasn't until after she brought the check that she asked if we wanted more soda, which at that point we did not. Overall, it was okay. I'm in no rush to return.

The blue Bayou was spot on from the food to the drinks to the service. The oysters were prepared, the perfect perfection and the old-fashioned. Well, there's no turning them down here. They actually know what they're doing. The service was perfect. They cater to all of our needs, we didn't wait for an item. They constantly asked if we needed something and our food came out, hot fast, and amazing. I would highly recommend stopping in here if you're looking for an oyster fix.

Touched down in NOLA and this was the first place I visited. The aesthetic of the Restaraunt is beautiful. I sat at the bar and put in my order immediately. I saw on TikTok that this place was highly recommended. I ordered the chargrilled garlic Parmesan oyster and an old fashion. I wanted to give it a try because I learned that chargrilled oysters is big in NOLA. I typically prefer raw oysters, but Baybayyy let me tell you. The first bite was incredible...Hot, juicy, garlicky, buttery, and that crusted Parmesan made me dance in my seat. Sop up the juice with the grilled toast and chased it with the old fashion. I was in heaven. The reviews I read of this place were mixed, but I'm glad I came. I think I came on a good night so I received good service and cooked to perfection oysters.

I had the best experience at Blue Bayou Restaurant & Oyster Bar and my server Tasha was phenomenal. She knew everything on the menu and gave great selections on what to order from cocktails, Appetizers, Oysters and entrees. We really had a great experience and when I come to the Big Easy I will visit again and hopefully Tasha will be my server again...
