You may have driven past this place a hundred times, I know I have. There isn't even a sign. What? No sign...Yep! There's no sign. When it was being built I thought, why build a gas station across from a gas station? Tucked in what appears to the naked eye as a simple gas station/convenience store is Donuts & Deli. It's no secret I'm from California as I reminiscence often of cool balmy beach weather as I swelter in the humid heat of Southern Louisiana.Louisianians love their snowballs, but we Californians LOVE us some donuts. We have as many donut joints as you have snowball stands, maybe even more. After hearing about this place ( from darling Alexis), I was eager to get my hands on some donuts. They serve a selection of classic donuts, glazed, chocolate, Bavarian cream, jelly filled and sprinkles. But then.......a wide grin as big a the Cheshire Cat creeped across my face as I eye spied a cinnamon roll as big as my head. The little Alice in Wonderland within me jumped for joy as I drooled over the various donut holes and miniature apple fritters, perfect for any mad hatter tea party. We order the giant cinnamon roll, chocolate covered donuts and jelly filled holes, all delicious!I thought I'd try their original potato, filled with the yumminess of bacon bits, cheese, butter, sour cream and green onions for a whopping $3.29 ....their menu includes sandwiches, burgers and smoked meat lunch plates....it's was obvious that some knew about this place as a dozen or so worker guys were chowing down at tables located inside.....And I was assured that the sign is coming soon.......What I discovered, even though my name isn't Alice nor did I follow a white rabbit down a hole....is that I won't have to travel far to grab delicious donuts or a bite for lunch.......Donuts & Deli gets the California stamp of approval, I'm a fan!

The directions on yelp are not accurate. The business is one block further down from where the GPS ends. It's an Marathon service station. There are not that many variety of donuts to choose from.I tried the glazed donuts and they were tasty. I wanted to try the breakfast platter but it was too late.

I was excited to see the resurrection of the old Donut and Deli. I ordered food there last week and was sad and greatly disappointed. My husband's hamburger was burnt on the outside and bright pink on the inside. After one bite, I made him throw it away. The T-boy roast beef po-boys I used to love to treat myself to weekly at the original place hardly had any meat on it and tasted like I was eating a lettuce, tomato, and mayo sandwich. The donuts weren't bad. But, I found a regular glazed was small in size. But, on a positive note, the place looked clean and neat. Nice tv, booths, and view. Lots of great parking.
