Went here by luck Saturday. We were heading to the deli across the street. The deli was closed about 2 hours before their posted hours. We gave the taco stand a try. It was great. Tacos were excellent a fresh. Chips and dips too. Will definitely return soon.

Tacos once had little to do with culinary legacy of New Orleans, but times changed; the recovery from broken levee flooding in 2005 attracted a new workforce and new appetites. The taco became a worker's staple just as the po-boy had in a previous generation. Take that developing demand, set down the food truck on an empty lot, put up an awning, and do it all with a chef whose culinary foundation is as much Mexicao as Texas, add a manager who knows how to set up outdoor spaces, and you get Barracuda. Tacos are in the name, and these are excellent. The dressings are fresh. The meats (pork, chicken, beef, crispy fish, and charred broccoli--not a meat but works as well as one--are nicely seasoned. They're not big, which is a blessing for those looking for variety. Chips are thin and crispy and served with salsa, guac, or queso, all of which are recommended as an "all the dips" combo. Quesadilla is listed as a side, but made with all the taco fill options except crispy fish. The crema and salsa are fresh, almost certainly house-made, and compliment whatever they come up against. Seating is outside comfortably situated under an awning. New Orleans isn't the greatest place for sitting outside, but the front of house does a decent job of misting or heating or wind-breaking or whatever's needed to provide a pleasant dining space. Service is order up front with food brought out to you. Staff is friendly and helpful.Tchoupitoulas Street is an unusual thoroughfare in a city full of them, formerly the connection between riverfront wharves and truck traffic. In the late 1900s¹, the access to the commercial riverfront was rerouted to a new truck-only roadway on the far (river) side of the old street. I'll wager that few readers know its name: the "Clarence Frogman Henry Truckway." Thus relieved of its truck duties, Tchoup was torn up and repaved in a massive years-long project. The loading bays, machine shops, railroad yards, and union halls made way for a range of new retail businesses where once there was only Tipitina's bar. Barracuda is one of these bright new spots along the Crescent City's riverfront necklace. ¹ 1900s? yeah, I'm old

Stopped in for a snack after wandering around the Bay! Tacos and a Bowl - really good - packed full of meat and fresh ingredients. The hot sauce they make is excellent- has a nice kick but isn't very spicy. Loved the open air seating - stays cool because it's covered. Friendly staff.

Barracuda's tacos are so good they'll ruin all other tacos for you. Perfect tortillas, killer fillings, and salsas...The salsas? A little spicy, a little dangerous--just how you like it. Pair it with a beer, and suddenly, you're making questionable decisions... like ordering five more.

This place is very popular. Prepare to stand on the sidewalk for a bit. The line moves pretty fast though. You order and then find a table in the outdoor seating. Super friendly staff. Fans that provide mist to make the heat more tolerable. The food: beef bowl. In my opinion, the best thing we ordered. Quality beef that was perfectly seasoned. Delicious beans and rice. Pickled onions and angel hair cabbage. Plenty of food. The fish taco was hyped up by friends but the fish was a bit over cooked and the salsa they top it with was burned this time. Even our friends who frequent commented that. It ruined a good fish taco. The pork taco was great. The beef taco was our fave. Top shelf guacamole. The queso is wonderful. It's topped with toasted pepitos and pomegranate seeds. The mangonada is a must. Unless you abstain from alcohol, get it!!Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Well, sans the fish taco but our friends said it is normally delish so we will try it again.

Stop by for a quick grab & dash. I had the spicy watermelon margarita. Pretty good. I like Barracuda's drinks a bit more than the tacos but the tacos aren't bad at all. Usually there is a long line whenever I drive by but this time the line was non existent so I had to seize the opportunity! Once I got in line tho, I looked behind me & the line was long like a Beyonce concert , I made it just in time. I got my drinks fast, the staff was friendly per usual. This is definitely a place to grab a marg from if you're near the Tchoup!

I am addicted to these tacos. My two favorites are the mushroom and the fish. The mushroom taco is so flavorful & savory, and has a good bite with texture. It has a little spice to it. I dressed it with the green salsa. The fish taco has pomegranate seeds, and is crispy and delicious. The side of corn ($5) comes in a small cup, and is enough for 1 person. It's very tangy and comes with sprinkle of cheese.Seating is first come first serve- you order first and then bring a number to your table. It's outdoors and there's plenty of fans. It's very casual. Food was brought out very quickly. There's only street parking.
