To Uber all the way from garden district so that we can try their Bánh cuốn & of course they said they were out at 11:45 am. The foods was just ok not worth the drive at all. My husband ordered the che & he said it's the worst che he ever had. For the two of us we spent $81 including tips. We order 3 dishes & one che. Also it's located in a not so nice area way from everything. The service was nice & the place is just ok a little bit old looking & outdated. The foods look better in pictures than the taste unfortunately.

Their banh cuon thit nuong (steamed rice rolls with grilled pork) is my favorite and the only item that I normally order from here. BUT the person who makes it does not work everyday so you have to ask if they are making it before you make the trip.

The eternal debate that has been a part of the NOLA Viet scene has been Ba Mien vs Dong Phuong and I think if there was a choice, it's pretty clear. Ba Mien is still highly regarded in some circles with its vast menu, catering options, and long standing reputation. Until something drastic changes, I think it might be safe to assume their heydey has passed.Located on the east end of the city, the restaurant is situated right along the water and gives off a classic old school Viet joint kind of vibe. It's always been one of those "it's bigger than it looks" kind of establishments; with plenty of group friendly seating and just enough ambience to keep folks interested. The service has always been pretty on top of things and I think the star ratings may skew a bit higher toward that aspect.Food wise, it's been somewhat of a slow downward cluster. At least a decade ago and some change it was assumed this would be the new DP for their big portions and specialties that were well noted in the community. The noodle soups (notably pho, bun bo hue, and bun rieu) have been pretty mediocre as of late and I haven't been too high on their com combinations either. Many folks would say the item to get always is their banh cuon, but even that has fallen somewhat by the wayside.i think one are they're still doing a semi-decent job is in the catering. A wedding I went to earlier this year had a number of hot foods that I thought were solid, enough to make me re-think my assessment on the place. I also realize that banquet food is not a realistic gauge for most folks but if they're still capable to make these types of dishes, then I'd emphasize to consider that over their usual dining choices. While I wouldn't consider them out for the count, I do think there are some improvements that can be made. I believe it's doable; if any community has shown some real resilience, it'd be the NOLA Viet community.

Solid Vietnamese food in a large casual setting w a lot of options that aren't available @ other Vietnamese restaurants in the city. In addition, the service is good as the food arrives relatively quickly and the prices are reasonable. I spent slightly over $20 w/ 2 entrees.

This was a quick bite for us at the New Orleans Jazz Fest 2018. So glad I tried this Vietnamese foodie vendor. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff working were very nice. Kinda pricey due to the event, but Yes I would try them at the restaurant location. The peanut sauce was so good!!!Try them...

This place was highly recommend on Yelp and multiple food blog sites about New Orleans' Vietnamese scene. I've heard multiple things about the fusion of Vietnamese and Cajun food. Unfortunately I haven't yet had the fusion in re: to a crawfish boil but I had to see for myself the quality of the Viet food for myself a Viet person. What caught my eye about the restaurant menus isn't the staples or the one that draw your attention to regional authentic dishes, like Bun Bo Hue or Bun Rieu, which you don't see on a ton of menus, as the ingredients are pricier and the demand and familiarity of these dishes to non-Viets is low. But Ba Mien has a Bun Oc on their menu, mind you its Bun Rieu Oc but I had only had it in one restaurant in my life growing up and even that restaurant is gone in Toronto. My wife has really grown to love the Bun Rieu so that what she got, and of course I get the Bun Rieu Oc. The broth is swimming with the sweet and delicious crab meat. The sea snails are also a good size and have the bite and almost crunch that is typical with large sea snail likes seafoods. I also acknowledge some of the criticisms of this restaurant. The broth does have a sweetness to it. I'm curious if its not a by product of the seafood there but it didn't impact how I enjoyed my bowl of noodles.Btw this place is SO VIET it had Paris By Night playing on the TVs.

I stopped by to grab some lunch for to-go. Yelpers recommend the Banh Cuon Thit Nuong(Steamed Roll with Grilled Pork) It's really good except for the sauce it came with, luckily I'm your typical Asian who has fish sauce on hand at all times so I made myself a different sauce to dip it with. Because I like to try different Pho and Bun Bo Hue at different restaurant to compare, I got one of eat also. I got the Combination Beef Noodle Pho (Eye Round Steak well-done Flank, Fat Brisket, Soft Tendon, Book Tripe, Skirt Flank and Meat Ball). The broth was ok but blend and a little too sweet for me. The Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Vermicelli - Hot & Spicy Beef Noodle Soup) was a disappointment. There were no taste of lemongrass or spiciness. The broth was also sweet. The combination fried rice was blend also.

12:34PM Ordered 4 to go orders. 1:02PM I walk up to the counter to ask when the order will be ready. She tells me the rice is still cooking and asks if I have rice at home bc it will be another 20 minutes. What the hell. 1:07PM Are you in a rush?" Like. Yes. That's why I ordered to go instead of eating here. And then I had to watch as people who came to the restaurant after me get and eat all of their food while I wait. 1:28PM I get my food. What type of establishment is this? Get your sh!t together.

Their bánh cuốn is absolutely delicious! They have a bánh cuốn steaming contraption and will make the bánh cuốn fresh to order (do note that they may turn off bánh cuốn production after 3). The bánh cuốn itself was thin, slightly chewy, and perfect in my book. Would definitely recommend!!
