From the outside it looks like a garage, with a pedestrian door. You walk through that door and follow the path back to the house. It's a quaint little place with a warm, homey feeling. We were greeted by Tom. He showed us around and offered all kinds of suggestions. He told us who was playing at the local Jazz clubs. After all, you are only three blocks away from Frenchman Street. So we got settled and cleaned up and went down to Frenchman Street. We took his suggestion and went to the D.B.A. club. The featured performer was very good and put on quite a show. You have to be willing to stand...or go around to the other side of the wall and hear muffled music, but you get to sit. This is what we did about half-way into the show.In the morning we went down to breakfast. WOW what a great treat. We were served with a fruit compote and some of the best bacon ever! The company at the table was great and we had a nice conversation with the other guests. The room was killer! Plenty of room and privacy with a comfortable bed. They spared no expense at the upgrades to the bathroom. It was very nice too!The breakfasts were AWESOME. He made mine gluten free due to the dietary restriction my wife put in. The room and area was very nice. The location was perfect to walk to the Jazz District. It was, "As good as it gets." Definitely exceeded my expectations.

We have been visiting New Orleans since 2000 and this is the only place we've ever stayed. We believe we have been there 9 or 10 times. If it wasn't a great place in a nice location, we wouldn't return every 18-24 months.Great hosts, tasty breakfast, clean, comfortable rooms, nice neighborhood location!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in New Orleans. We stayed in the front carriage room, which had purple and green walls and was absolutely darling. My husband and I enjoyed drinking champagne in the courtyard hot tub under the stars, surrounded by the B&W's charming decorations and landscaping.Breakfast is scrumptious. Some of Tom's amazing breakfasts included ham and egg frittatas, sweet potato waffles (OMG!), and homemade biscuits. There's also a great bakery across the street (NOLA Cake Cafe & Bakery) which has awesome king cake.Tom and Dana were also very knowledgeable about the city. We attended some great musical shows, restaurants, and parades based on their suggestions. B & W Courtyards was an eclectic, friendly, and romantic place to stay. I highly recommend it.

We recently stayed at this wonderfully quirky and comfortable B and B on our first visit to New Orleans. The owners, Tom and Dana could not have been more welcoming or helpful both prior to us arriving and certainly during our stay. We were lucky enough to have a lovely cottage in the back of the property with a full kitchen, living room and bedroom and bath upstairs. A koi pond and a soothing fountain in the courtyard made this a relaxing stay. Can I tell you about the extraordinary breakfasts?!? Tom was the chef except for our last 2 days when a friend, Cindee took over the cooking. Sweet potato waffles with a mountain of fruit and whipped cream! Tasso ham frittatas! Orange infused croissants French toast! Shrimp and cheese grits! Coffee, tea, assorted juices and fresh fruit were also offered along with interesting conversations about New Orleans and good advice on what we should see and how to get there. It's about a 15 minute walk to Frenchman Street with its shops and restaurants and jazz clubs; a little longer walk to the French Quarter. We felt perfectly safe although the sidewalks in the neighborhood are crumbling so wear sturdy shoes! We loved the combination of fun, unusual decor and bright colors mixed with the formality of the furniture. Our bed was very comfy and although the bathroom is small the shower worked well and the towels were fluffy! Staying here was definitely one of the many highlights of our vacation and we'd absolutely stay there again.Did I mention the glorious breakfasts???

B&W Courtyards is a great place to stay when in NOLA. It's not in the middle of the French District which can be very busy yet close enough so you can access all the places you want to go to very easily. It's also a few blocks from Frenchmen Street which has a great selection of bars and clubs and some great music. A great place to end the evening on your way home. But the greatest thing about B&W are the owners, Rob and Kevin. Rob sent me a confirmation email after booking the inn that included a "Things To Do In New Orleans"that he personally wrote about this very fine city. It gave us a head start as to what we wanted to do as well as a look into the many fine restaurants in NOLA.But the greatest part was meeting Rob and Kevin. They were so accomodating to all our needs throughout our stay. Kevin even helped my wife with her injured knee. She had severly hurt herself prior to our trip and he gave her some patches that helped subside some of the pain. I must say the Vodka in town also helped with that as well...And Rob was so helpful and full of great ideas. He sat us down when we arrived and showed us a map and descibed all the sites we should see and explained it in great detail. But the best part is in when Rob "holds court" at breakfast. His stories about his life in New Orleans were fantastic and he had me laughing so hard that I had tears running down my face. Rob and Kevin are truly two of the best and they made our stay in New Orleans one we will never forget.

So when I came here and saw nothing but six 5-star reviews on yelp (at the time) I thought "right, the fix is in." So I went over to Trip Advisor and subsequently took the time to read all 280 5-star reviews there. Surely it must be the most elaborate scheme ever devised to bump up ratings.Nope, it is the real deal. Rob and Kevin run a great inn and will show you a great time. I am not sure what to add to all of the praise. It was my first time in NOLA and the Courtyards was a great place to stay. A couple of blocks off Frenchmen street, it is residential so you do not get a lot of street noise or crowds. We stayed in the Font Carriage House room and even though it is facing the street we were not bothered by anything going on out there. Rob made a big deal about the funky bathroom, but you get used to it. I mean, you do know that you are not booking a weekend with some retired granny for a B&B getaway in Northern Michigan to see the colors -- you know that, don't you? You are booking a New Orleans visit, right in a residential neighborhood, a few blocks away from cool places to eat and hear music. Listen to the detailed orientation when you get there, I usually like being on my own but they steered us well for our limited days in the city. We had a great time, loved the room and appreciated the degree to which Rob and Kevin take care of the place and pay attention to details. The room was comfortable and we immediately felt at home -- no, at home we feel surround by work and kids and stress -- we immediately felt far from home and were in a very Happy Place.I should be embarrassed by all of the gushing, but I give few 5-star ratings so feel pretty strongly about the place. Go there, and be sure to start each day around the community breakfast table for shared story telling and more local insights into how to have great experiences there.

This was my first time to stay at the B&W Courtyards in the Marigny section just outside the French Quarter. I am an anthropologist who has been conducting researching in the area since Katrina, so have made dozens of trips over these 11 years. I've met incredible people and absorbed a lot of the cultural vibe that makes this the most interesting and surprising city in the US. Tom and Dana bought this B&B around 5 years ago. They have made their mark by running a first class business as a total partnership--keeping immaculate rooms, feeding guests a robust and delicious breakfast and serving as fonts of knowledge about the area's music, art, food, street life, local personalities and social history. This is the real deal. There is no place else I will stay now that I have found them.

This is a very quaint bed and breakfast in the heart of the historic Marigny district of New Orleans, a short walk from the French Quarter. I stayed in the front room as that was all that was available. I am a very light sleeper but most of the time it is was quiet. Windows are double panel. This is a residential neighborhood but there are a few jazz clubs in the area (this is New Orleans!) and l was woken by the trash collection in the morning. Keep in mind that l was in the front room facing the street. If you are a light sleeper you might want to book one of the back cottages. The breakfasts are amazing and there are sodas and beers available in the outside fridge (from local businesses) The courtyard is a welcome respite from the crowds in the French District There is also a bakery right across the street that l can recommend for a healthy lunch.

THE GOOD: Bathroom clean & nice, good size refrigerator, room has a ceiling fan, love the bathroom ceiling heater, comfortable mattress, cable channels and Hulu & Netflix, cute courtyard, good location. THE BAD: Found out AFTER the reservation was made and paid for that they were not serving breakfast (but reminded to bring a swim suit for the hot tub). The hot tub was not in working condition. Though the water temp was set on 104 it never reached 88 degrees and the chemicals were sooo strong. The decorative pillow on the bed had something crusty on it, the ceiling light was covered in cobwebs, the extra comforter had silvery-blonde long hairs on it and the condition of the wood furniture was pretty beat-up. THE ABSOLUTE WORST: I was greeted by a STARVING cat every time I entered or left my room. This cat is the courtyard pet. Its food & water bowl are located across from our room door. After 2 days of empty bowls, it was apparent that the owners were not going to feed this poor cat. I purchased cat food and gave it food and water the rest of the time I stayed there. My last day there, I opened a cabinet next to my room in the courtyard and there was a tupperware container with a little cat food in it. There are also other reviews about this cat. So, the owner can not deny that this is their pet that they just decided to not feed (for at least a week). This animal cruelty is unacceptable. Being greeted by their pet cat, that was being starved, every time I entered or left my room is inexcusable. I was willing to overlook the cleanliness issues, possibly overlook the hot tub issues but there was no way to over look the treatment of their pet.
