We didn't see the bottling machines run on Sunday afternoon, but the whole place was surprisingly interesting. The museum and the individual process buildings were interesting to see and understand the process. It was pretty quick to go through (buildings 1-9). I also liked the bamboo area. We tried the restaurant and bought some gifts at the store. All of the locations took about an hour to go through including the restaurant. The food was not bad at the restaurant however, we only ordered few items to sample. Of course, all Tabasco sauces were available to try which was really nice. There were some that I never seen, and I had to buy those for me later at the store. All in all, a very good experience.ALSO, we really enjoyed the garden. The admission is paid with the plant tour and you can walk or drive the trails. It was nice day and very few people were there. We really enjoyed the scenery at our own pace, I highly recommend it!

Great day trip. Fun store, museum and walking tour. The sprawling gardens are the best part. Massive trees and different stops with featured plants, bamboo, buildings and paths. Guests can drive or walk, we saw several small alligators and the beautiful egrets. You will know you are at the home of Tabasco as soon as you pull up

Very cool to see the plant. Restaurant was excellent. Tabasco Bloody Mary is a must try if you are into that sort of thing. The most impressive part was how beautiful the grounds are. Take a day and go check it out. Doubt you'll be disappointed.

This is a great place to visit know best for The Tabasco hot sauce that has made this place famous world-wide. The grounds are beautiful and New Iberia, which is near by, is also a wonderful place to visit.I first came here years ago while staying over in New Iberia. I am a Huge fan of author James Lee Burke, who is from this area and whose character: Dave Robicheaux, made me want to come to this area of the country and really check it out for myself. If you get the chance come check out Avery Island and the Tabasco Factory and then do yourself a favor and head to New Iberia for some great food, great people, and maybe even see if you can find James Lee Burke.

I love it here!!! This is the second time I've been here and it was just as cool as the first. The history on the island and Tabasco tour are like no other. It's an absolute must stop if you are in the area. Side noteIt was pouring down rain today and we never thought twice about not coming and we are from Southern California, so we hate rain

This salt dome of a private island in the heart of the Louisiana Bayou has been a mecca for Cajun food lovers ever since 1868, when the banker Ed McIlhenny perfected his pepper concoction here, and Tabasco Sauce was born. The legendary sauce is still manufactured here, even though some of the peppers now come from South America, and the vinegar reputedly comes from France. Millions of bottles a year travel to 160 countries and end up, among other places, on the lunch room tables of the House of Commons. Lord Kitchener apparently kept a bottle or two in his backpack on the way to Khartoum. Today, you can tour the factory, eat your lunch, and buy all manner of pepper-laced victuals from the company store. But the main attraction of the island is the nature preserve that the family has maintained here for the last two generations. Gorgeous, Spanish-moss-festooned cypresses and thick swampland thickets house every species of bayou denizen. Tabasco Sauce these days comes in all kinds of variations, from garlic to habanero, chipotle, and green. But for us, the original red still rules, whether in travel-size miniatures, the original 720-drop bottles, or (heavens!) personalized gallon jugs. However you take it, this is one product that remains exactly the same as the concoction your great-grandmother might have loved.

Avery Island does not accept American cash to enter their factory, buy things in their gift shop or eat in their restaurant. I do not like to buy things on credit when i have cash in my wallet. I am guessing that Avery Island was bought by foreigners that they no longer accept American cash. I boycott all businesses that don't accept American cash and i swear that i will never return to your factory or buy any of your products !!! So very Un-American of Avery Island !!!
