I came back recently so I could walk around a bit. The trails are nice. The new paintings on the windows of the visitor center are nice. Great walking trails! Well maintained, well marked. The visitor center was a wealth of information and the park rangers were friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

This was recommended to me by a friend who knows my love of nature and need to get outdoors. She came back in December 2022 and really enjoyed it so we opted to give it a go.It is easy to find and not to far out of new Orleans. It does have limited hours for use of the nature trails. They close at 330 so be sure if you want to go you get there earlier. It's free if you just want to check out the trails. The trails are not that long. They are flat and would seem to be accessible to most.Lots of trees and was highly shaded. Trails were mix of boardwalk and dirt. Lots of bugs! Bring your bug spray! We saw a couple of snakes, slider turtles, rabbits, caterpillars and a whole lot of bugs lol. The ranger was very friendly and helpful.

Zoo is nice when the animals are out. Aquarium & insectarium is okay... seems like it's best for small kids. Not a lot of room. Too much jammed into one small building/space. Best way to enjoy either one is to eat prior to visiting &/or pack snacks/meals. Prices are too high.

The nature center is adjacent to a rather impressive looking athletic complex. Your GPS might think you can drive straight through that to the nature side, but it would be wrong. You can, however, park by the athletic fields and walk (or take the other entrance).Anyway, the nature center building is pretty nice, and the boardwalk is well-maintained, but I found the setting oddly disappointing. It's all urban, separated from the street only by a fence, and there's no place you can get to where you won't hear cars driving by regularly. The trails just weren't that impressive compared with, say, the Jean Lafitte Park nature center and boardwalks, which really isn't that far away. There are a lot of genuinely wild and isolated places nearby where you can get more of a bayou experience than this little plot of land. Notably, on this side of the city, Bayou Sauvage seems like it could use some visitor-friendly infrastructure. The nature center and planetarium are nice for kids and all, but I'd sooner drive elsewhere for my nature fix.

I cannot express how magical this slice of paradise is. How wonderful the sun feels on your skin, how beautiful nature sounds here. The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center will bring out the inner kid in you when you see swamp rabbits and red cardinals birds. It's easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of our Big Easy, but this is a hidden gem in our backyard. Pack water, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and make the short drive out here to enjoy a few hours of Mother Nature blushing and beaming with pride. The trails are well kept, there are designated areas for fire pits, rocking chairs at the Nature Center to relax into, maps throughout guiding your walking path, varied information on local insects, animals, trees and native inhabitants throughout and, of course, the ubiquitous friendly Louisiana face saying hello.

A quick and easy nature fix, if you want to stay in the city. It's at the eastern edge. Free. Saw lots of turtles, an alligator, crawfish, tree frogs, strange bugs. Catching a movie at the planetarium makes it a good half-day activity.

Enjoyed an excellent show, Habitat Earth, at the planetarium, then walked the trails for an hour, and looked at the exhibits. It's a very educational day, or can just be exercise in a true Louisiana landscape. Worth the drive to New Orleans East. Staff is super knowledgable and friendly. Not far from Bayou Sauvage, if looking for a second stop in the area. Might want to pack lunch and water.

Peaceful and interactive! We had a great time as a family. Rangers were very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. We will have to return on a Saturday so as to see the planetarium and indoor exhibit. But look forward to our next trip!
