Pandemic update:For December 2020, the Market has moved to City Park on the Great Lawn across from the Peristyle. It is much smaller than the usual December markets at Palmer Park but it is well spread out. It is happening every Saturday until Christmas. You enter from the Dreyfous Dr side of the Great Lawn, where you leave your info for contact tracing and they have hand sanitizer. The whole area is taped off and we are trusted to be adults and comply; but in case you aren't a good citizen, there is a security guard nearby. There were 20-30 vendors selling their wares. Everyone was masked and I was glad to see more and more vendors were excepting e-payments. Great way to support local artists and get some amazing presents for your loved one or you!

Fabulous way to shop local and support artists. In what other way can you gather gifts for multiple people, under an hour all in the same place? Even better, the Black Friday/small business Saturday offered some amazing deals! For under $100 I got gifts at 4 different booths for 3 people!

LOVE this art market!!!! The absolute best time of year to shop this art market is after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. It's the time of year when the most vendors are out and usually the weather is perfection. Some vendors only come too these two weekends the whole year since so many people come out to shop these weekends. Normally this art market is held the last Saturday of every month from 10-4, but after Thanksgiving and before Christmas it is held on Saturday and Sunday 10-4. You can find so much neat and unique art, pottery, purses & other hand made goods, glassworks, and so much more. They even have live music and a hand full of food vendors.I've come to know a few of the vendors and they are the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They work hard getting everything ready for the market and are always so excited to see friendly familiar faces. My absolute favorite vendor of all is Julie Juneau, and she's a glass artist. She has so many amazing bowls, vases, ornaments, and more. I always looking forward to shopping with her before the holidays. Definitely check out this art market if you're looking for something special for someone. There is such a variety and you can't go wrong even if you just come out to look because the weather is nice. I can't wait to see who's there next month.

Arts market which is curated by the Arts council of New Orleans, is THE place to see the largest variety of good quality art. While other venues will claim to be arts markets, they always seem to be filed with hairbow booths, or people selling "butt" potts (a butt pott is basically a wooden post with a terracotta pot glued on top painted in some offensive sports motif, we shouldn't be smoking anyways) This collection of art is NOT your grandma's craft show.I have attended "Palmer Park" (as simply referred to by locals and artist alike) several times and notice that while many of the artist are returning. However, there is always an infrequent artist that pops in and catches my eye Why spend money on a print or cheaply made decorative piece at a big box store when you can acquire original pieces and meet the talented artist who created such a beautiful piece? Seems a no brainer to me.On this trip, I scored a handblown clear vase with a smattering of brightly colored dots by artist J. Ballard ( instagram.com/jballardglass ) It will go perfect in my bedroom atop my ultra fancy modern dresser. I just loved it from the minute I laid eyes on it.It caught the eye of my inner child that loved circuses, and polka dot dresses, rainbows and the colored glass vases on my Grandmothers sill.and now it's all mine.

I have always wanted to come to this art market, and finally made it this past month. This art market is every last Saturday in the month. They had a booth that was selling REALLY cheap paperback and hardback books. They even had new releases, and I picked up The Hate You Give in hardback for $5. They had a plant truck, yes you read that right. Think food truck but instead they sell plants. There was a wide range of different types of art--wood, glass, floral paintings, afro-centric paintings, etc. There was also food booths, snoballs, and a lemonade stand. Live music also kept it moving along. I'm ready for the next month to roll around so I can fully enjoy it. I was in a rush since I had somewhere to be and it closed at 4pm.

I absolutely love that this happens every month in my neighborhood. I love that we can run errands, grocery shop, come back, put the little guy in his stroller and walk the hand full of blocks to the action. This time we got to enjoy the food stands and they were everything I thought they would be. We sampled "Bratz Y'all"-'s "drunk pig BBQ. AWESOME. Then we had the Nutella and Banana crepe from "Crepes-A-La-Carte." They were both great and I got some great shots of baby's first crepe for the grandparents.Great experience all around!

If you are looking for an afternoon Saturday walk, this is definitely a place to go. They have music playing while you are checking out art works sold by local artists. My boyfriend and I tried the Bacon Nutella Crepe (Magic) and definitely a great afternoon hang out spot!

Palmer Park is a fun event, mix music and food with arts and crafts and you have yourself a date. Very diverse art and a chance to meet and talk to each artist. If parking situation was better, I would give it 5 stars. It is however, New Orleans!

The Arts Market is great if you need a gift.... whether it's last minute or pre-planned. There are TONS of options. Of course, it's also great to just wander through and see what is available. Also, lots of delicious food vendors. There are crafts available for the kiddos to make, and of course, the lovely playground in the middle. This is a great place for a family outing!
