This is the best Indian food I have ever had. I've heard amazing things about Aroma for months but have never had a chance to try it until today. We went to the restaurant with the intention of ordering takeout, which we could have done on the phone (but it's close to the Superdome and with Taylor Swift in town we weren't sure if we could get there). The first thing you notice when you get there is the fragrance (I'm trying so hard not to use the word "aroma") of the restaurant, and it is absolutely divine. Also, the inside of the restaurant was very nice, which was a surprise as it's not in the best neighborhood. We ordered chicken Tikka Masala, and Butter Chicken (the cashier teased us for not trying something more adventurous, but also gave us suggestions for next time), with the Chili Chicken and Chili Paneer, plus some garlic butter naan. The food was ready in about 20 minutes, and the entire drive home I was drooling over the aroma coming from the bag. The Chili Chicken and Chili Paneer were delicious, although I think I liked the paneer better. Both were spicy but not too much, just enough to let you know it was there. I wish I had the words to describe both of the entrees without sounding cliche, but the depth of flavor in both of the sauces was absolutely amazing. The naan was very good and I eventually discarded a fork and just ate the sauce with it instead. As with the appetizers, the spice level was perfect, just enough to get a little bead of sweat on the forehead but not uncomfortable. I should also mention that we ordered a lot of food with the anticipation of having it for leftovers, but it was so good I didn't have enough self control to save much more than a little Butter Chicken, which was also amazing on the second day. All of their dishes are available as vegetarian options as well. I'm usually a meat eater but after having the Chili Paneer I would love to try a lot of the other things as vegetarian as well. They also do lamb and mutton in addition to chicken. The cashier suggested next time we try the korma, and I will definitely do that next time. I have no doubt that it will be excellent!

Hands down the BEST Indian in the city!!!I love Chicken Tikka Masala and they have theeee best I've tried in New Orleans. Seasoned to perfection, creamy, and rich. Chicken tender and juicy.. So yum!Their garlic Naan is really good, too! Service is always great-- never had an issue w| their service. Ambiance is super chill. It's a smaller spot but the food packs a great punch! If you're in the mood for Indian, I x1000 recommend Aroma on Claiborne.

Tried this place on my trip to New Orleans. As we weren't that hungry so we just tried few items here. We started off with Masala Papad and Papdi Chaat. Both the Masala Papad and Papdi chaat were delicious. We then had plain dosa which was just ok. I requested for soft dosa however the dosa served wasn't soft. Also, the dosa was served with less portion of Sambhar and peanut chutney.The ambiance was just ok. The server was shy and didn't talk much.

I enjoyed everything about this place underneath I-10 tucked between University Medical Center and the Superdome. Near downtown a short share ride away. The food is outstanding. And everything from the decor to the presentation is beautifully done. Service is excellent. My one caveat is that parking is limited out front but there are some street parking spaces out back.

This is the second time I've eaten here in the last month and the food is delicious. If you love spicy you'll love Aroma. I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo. It's is really great. The lamb was so tender and the sauce it is prepared in is absolutely wonderful. This is a spicy dish so prepare yourself. If it's too hot for you ask for some yogurt sauce to add to the dish. It knocks down the heat some. The Chicken Biryani is also wonderful too. The wait staff was wonderful. Explaining what items had what ingredients. He brought this complimentary item similar to a potato chip that was spicy and delicious. All in all this was a very wonderful experience and I'll be returning soon to try another Indian dish.

Food 5 of 5- Fresh made to order Indian Cuisine as most restaurants of the same fare. My party of 2 and half enjoyed the Chicken Vindaloo, Fried Noodle with shrimp, saag (creamed spinach) but it has a different name and garlic naan. We some dishes spicy and we were pleased with the spice level. Might be my new spot over Nirvana uptown Service was 5 out of 5, no attitude and very attentive. We were greeted when we entered. I was going to write a review complaining about my inconsistent experiences with this restaurant. But today's events have prompted me to issue a warning to customers.A month ago, a friend and I had lunch here and we were pleased with both the food and service. Last night, I took my niece here for dinner. Our experience could not have been more different. The food was disappointing, but the service was so bad that I had to venture out of the dinning room twice to find a server. My niece complained that there were multiple vegan options on the online menu, but the server advised that only 1 vegan entree was available when we dined. I actually have tried to order dosa from the menu both times that I visited, but each time the server said it was not available. My niece found both her appetizer and entree flavorless and boring. I ordered lamb chops, one of the more expensive entrees on the menu. They were charred and dried, and tasted unlike any Tandoor-style lamb chops that I have ever eaten. Some dry lettuce and a little seasoned rice came with the lamb chops, but they did nothing to redeem the entree. But worse than the food, was the service. My entree arrived considerably before my niece's entree. It took so long that I thought the server forgot that we were waiting. When I got up to look for a server, I found him chatting on his cell phone. It happened again at the end of the dinner when we were waiting on the check. Again, I found the server chatting on his cell phone. I was so eager to leave that when he finally brought the credit card receipt for my signature, I quickly signed and we left. This morning I realized that the server did not return my credit card with the receipt. I went back to the restaurant and a different employee took a wad of credit cards from the cash drawer of the cash register. I got nervous when my card was not amongst them. Then he removed another wad of credit cards from the change drawer of the cash register, but it did not include my credit card. Finally, he lifted the tray of the cash register and under envelopes and papers he discovered my card. I was so appalled by this experience that I vowed to share it with other customers as a warning.

The food was pretty good, but they provide tiny cups of rice. We asked for more and we were charged $3 a cup. When we realized this we told them to take it back. They said they just wouldn't charge us, and then decided to charge us for one serving. They also have a large credit card fee. We will not be going back. Try Nirvana instead.
