Don't bother with any other tour groups!! Absolutely wonderful group of people with deep knowledge of NOLAs past and present. We had a tour of Congo Square from a legit Voodoo priestess and found the experience both inspiring and healing. We were taken deep into the spiritual world of the enslaved people who gave birth to the rich cultural traditions that make NOLA magical. We also received critical analysis of the mythology developed around Voodoo Queen Marie Lavaeu to help us gain a deeper understanding and respect for her and the community she was part of. If you want to learn about the interconnected mythology, spirituality and history of New Orleans: Anansi's daughters is where it's at!!!

My girlfriend and I were looking for a black-led, black history tour of New Orleans on our recent visit. We found Anansi's Daughters via Google and TripAdvisor. What good fortune!! Malika is an exceptional guide and a veritable fountain of knowledge about the history and culture of New Orleans. She radiates passion and joy as she shares colorful, nuanced, multi-dimensional stories drawn from her own lineage as well as her extensive scholarship about topics that span a wide spectrum that includes New Orleans Jazz, African and Black Indian peoples, Vodou, Hoodoo, Ifa, and more. We could have spent many more enthralled hours in her presence and would only have scratched the surface of what she has to share. Best part is that she never tells the history the same way twice so even if you repeat rhetoric tour, you'll learn new things and be glad you did!

WOW WOW WOW!!! My family and I had the privilege of experiencing the Blackest Ghost Tour with Malika as our tour guide. We were wowed from the moment she began her storytelling until the very end. To be able to see New Orleans through the eyes of its people and its Black history is a gift that we do not take for granted. Malika was patient, her story-telling accessible, and her deep love for what she does, palpable!!! We are counting down the days until we are back in New Orleans, and readying to experience the other tours Anansi's Daughters has to offer! Immense gratitude for the love and knowledge shared with us.

This tour is an absolute must-do in New Orleans! We are tourists, but even locals would benefit from the experience. Our guide was Eshe and she was incredible. She was informative, personable and went above and beyond to ensure all questions were answered and that everyone in the group had an opportunity to engage if they chose to. We learned so much cultural history in N.O.; clarified ATR & vodou information; made recommendations for authentic spots in the area; and the list goes on. We are so grateful we chose this tour and will definitely book it again when we're back in N.O. because no 2 tours are ever the same. Thank you Eshe and Anansi's Daughters for providing such an amazing tour!

Eshe is an excellent guide to the religion and culture of Louisianna vodou. We learned so much! She gave us lots of opportunities to ask questions. The subject of the tour includes the enslaved person's experience and the treatment of black and Creole people by white colonists. Eshe was very clear that she was sharing her knowledge and her experience and that it was OK for us to have our own feelings and reactions to difficult stories that she was familiar with but were new to us. On a practical note, the tour includes frequent stops near benches, so don't worry about having to walk long distances. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to know the deep history of New Orleans.
