I got the ham and cheese, fully dressed. It was absolutely delicious. The bread was toasted and the cheese was perfect melted. The sandwich also came with Zapps chips (I purchased Ruffles). I was serviced as soon as I walked in the door. It was about a 7 minute wait from the time I ordered to the time I sat down to eat the sandwich. Great place with nice picnic tables to sit outside. I would recommend this historic spot to anyone passing by looking for a good sandwich.

I love the sandwiches here. I've been coming here for years since the sandwiches were $5.99. Prices have since gone up but they are still worth it. I believe the price is now around $8. You get a footlong pressed sandwich, chips, and a fountain drink for that price. They are always pleasant when I go. The meal comes with spicy crawtator zapps but you can request the voodoo flavor. I highly recommend it as a quick bite.

If any place in Baton Rouge deserves recognition for its value, Am-Mart ought to win the prize. Yes, it is nothing more than a deli in a convenience store. But they quickly turn out well-made, simple sandwiches to order for an extremely reasonable price. I worked in the area for several years, and these folks got a lot of business from my colleagues and I because the food was good, the turnaround was fast, the location was convenient, and the prices were right. Who could ask for more?

AMerican Market is always a good quick meal. I prefer their sandwiches over a subway or Jimmy Johns. The price is great for including a sandwich, bag of chips, and a fountain drink. Tips: 1. call before and order. That way you walk in, pay, and leave. 2. Swap the chips out for voodoo chips if you like those more.

Food is great service is great and the store is clean they keep it simple and it works out for the best.

If I could give this place less than one star I would! I went to LSU as an undergrad and frequently got sandwiches from this place. Was visiting for first time in about 9 years and the service is AWFUL! Very micro aggressive behavior, quality of the sandwiches have severely declined, and the drink machine did not look well kept along with the ice not working!

I love this place. The family that runs it is always friendly and accommodating. The sandwiches are fresh and scrumptious. Plenty of beer and liquor options. Very organized store and great location.
