LISTEN, DECIPHER, READ, SPEAKI took two 5-day review courses here this summer. It was a huge break through.I was at the point where I was thinking in French, but I was at an impasse. Then I realized I needed to hear it spoken. The words are very similar but the accent is the tricky part.By listening to conversations, non-watered down, I slowly began to acclimate to the pronunciation.FORMIDABLE!

Amazing location to learn and practice French!A Great place to go and hangout if you want to converse in French, read french books or check them out from the library, or take a class.I am a college student and have spent some time there studying for big tests or getting help with a French paper. They rock! Always willing to give me a hand and if not, they always point me in the right direction. Check it out... Great location. Great teachers. Great memories.

I joined AFNO for language classes after holding membership at an AF elsewhere in the US. The quality of instruction offered at AFNO far surpasses the experience I had had previously. Unlike other AF offices, AFNO is very strict about its immersion approach, which is essential if you are a serious student. The work is fun while also challenging and the source materials/textbooks used are good. AFNO also offers many other activities such as film festivals, cooking classes, game nights, and so on. These events are free or reduced price for members, but open to the public as well if you're interested in getting a feel for the center before paying for a membership.

Located uptown NOLA, Alliance Francaise school is quaint and quirky, as it is in a real home converted for schooling.I remember coming here for French oratory competitions. The school itself smells like Sunday school - that musty scent, with a piano in the corner, and those tiny student tables. Anyhow, Alliance is not only a school but plays host to many competitions. You will find Alliance celebrating Bastille Day downtown, sponsoring and hosting misc. events that celebrate the French way.Anyhow, you will find the upper crust class taking lessons as it is only those New Orleanian natives who are very proud of their French heritage taking classes. For a city that is very influenced by both Spain and France, I'm sad to see the French slowly dying out.Alliance Francaise is not a cheap school, but where else can one converse en francais tous les jours?

Absolutely love AFNO! My teacher Bridget S. made learning fun, and instilled a deep love for the French language in her students. The location is great and all staff is friendly and helpful. If you are serious about learning French in New Orleans, then this is the place for you.
