This mural was painted by Brent Houzenga. This design was originally done as an installation for the Flint Public Art Project in Michigan. It is now featured in over the ten different locations. His initial intent was to celebrate LGBTQ+ history. However, following the murder of George Floyd, its meaning would grow to incorporate a call for equality for black and brown lives. The piece was painted in 2020 and depicts a rainbow heart on top of white, brown, black, light blue and pink stripes. It is a very basic design, but says a lot and it works. The mural is on a garage door of the Krewe of Redbeans mural and is located right around the corner from the National WWII Museum. It is across from the Flamingo A-Go-Go's patio area. There is metered street parking and paid lots available nearby to park and get out to take a closer look. You could also get a good look from the windshield of your car doing a slow rolling drive by.Anyway, as with most murals I have reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 3 minutes. You should consider planning out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals and attractions in the area, such as the WWII museum, to maximize your time and trip.
