Alice and Amelia, Magazine Street (West Riverside area). When I look for nice New Orleans themed gifts -- usually for friends and family unlucky enough to be stuck at home in the freezing Northwest -- Alice and Amelia is certainly my go-to shop. I find it has a large selection of curated, fun, useful and affordable gifts, not the kitschy, tourist junk so common in souvenir stores and supermarkets. If there is something you want, but don't see, ask for the owner, Joann. She will be happy to work with you. (BTW, Alice and Amelia are Joann's delightful granddaughters). Alice and Amelia, on Magazine Street, highly recommended, Five Stars.

This is a very attractive store. And the assistant was top notch. Their Items are varied, including a lot if quality New Orleans schtik and not over priced. We went in to buy two gifts and came out with7 items. Local artists' items available, like artwork by Jane Brewster. Oh and be sure to check out their dresses.

Pandemic update: My last review was when the business still went by another name and it's still a supercute shop. They carry a bunch of local artists/crafters and have a great selection of souveniers/NOLA themed gifts. The folks who work in the shop are always friendly and helpful.I was here a couple of months ago to pick up MG themed signs so my Mom could have a virtual parade in her front yard for Yardi Gras. I had ordered online so pickup was easy.Staff was wearing masks; customers were required to wear masks too. Hand sanitizer was available. Great experience all the way around.

This store is tight and not really much in there that caught my attention. As others have mentioned online, they are control freaks with their drink policy. I brought in my empty yeti water bottle that was in a purse pouch and they still made me leave my water bottle at the register. It's pretty nuts!
