What an interesting tour! From start to finish I was delighted with the company...thank you Bre for making booking easy!! Jay, our guide was so knowledgeable! He kept us engaged the entire time. We saw things we would not have seen on an ordinary tour. I love using small, local companies. His videos really enhanced the experience. Best tour for anyone interested in Native American, African and African American history in NOLA! I highly recommend!! And I will take another one of their tours on my next visit! Thanks again Bre and Jay!

Outstanding!!! Above the rest - the best tour- with a rich reflection of the black experience -Love the authentic walk through New Orleans history. Open book, marker to never forget the contributions of our multicultural heritage. My granny is from Louisiana, as a child she shared with me Louisiana and I would tell her that's not in the school history books. This tour enlighten me on much of what my granny shared with me as a child. Can't wait to come back to take another tour with 2nd line. This tour is priceless.

This was a girls trip to New Orleans it was our first time we were super excited about the trip I made arrangement with this company. For two tours and airport pick and drop off for 6 people @ $200 per person. We paid a deposit of $400 to reserve that day. Once we got to the airport two people missed the flight. So we're picked up at the airport with 4 people. We went to the Whitney plantation which was not even a guided tour we were just dropped off. Then we did the city tour now here's where it goes wrong. We get drop near French quarters around 6:30pm then, I get a call from the owner (Dennis) I believe saying we made reservations for 6 people but it's only 4 of you and it's not worth doing a whole day for only $800 so he made us pay extra even though 2 people were missing. If this was an original disclaimer where it was communicated that you will still be charged for anyone who is missing I would have made an educated decision to not book with this company. But that was never told to me and we had no choice since all of our belongings were on the bus and we had to be back at the airport by 10pm. I would not recommend this company for a tour. I think the way everything was handled was bad business. And I would rather deal with a company that embodies integrity and principle.

We had a wonderful time with 2nd Line Tours. Dennis was a fabulous tour guide and gave us an unforgettable experience in New Orleans History. I recommend everyone who wants a more black/indigenous/afro cultural view of Nawlins to book the tour. You will learn valuable information to carry with you to help educate others. You may also get to add a song or two to your playlist. #WEOUTSIDE Can't wait to visit again and take another tour with 2nd Line.

Great experience. My mom and I did the Culture tour and was able to see a lot and hear a lot more in details than we would on any bus tour. I appreciated how honest Jay was in sharing his story and those of his community. I learned so much and plan to book again with my partner when we return in the future. Thanks so much Jay!

My boyfriend and I went on the urban city tour with tour guide Jay. Jay was phenomenal very knowledgeable about the city's rich culture and history and also funny which was a plus! The tour took us through so many different New Orleans actual neighborhoods where we got to learn about the city's makeup, the musical history, slavery/trades etc. it was also cool to see that the buildings are still standing after over 200 years. We also visited studio Be which was created and run by a NOLA native Mike. This studio is to die for! His artistic ability is amazing and pieces were really deep! Jay also recommended some top places to eat that locals recommend which was amazing! This tour was a 10/10. Very eye opening, fun and informational. I would definitely recommend and would recommend Jay as your tour guide!

(NOLA) 2nd Line Tours - Whitney PlantationMany thanks to Dennis for making the ride to the Whitney plantation fun, which we did on 18 May 2024. The history lessons and stories along the way were informative! Your recommendation to "We Dats" was PERFECT for lunch! The tour was with a small group, maybe a dozen people on the bus. This was our first time visiting a plantation, and we were looking forward to discussing our perspectives and take-aways as my wife is African American and I am Caucasian. My wife described the experience as heavy, heartbreaking, enlightening, and powerful. Her tears flowed as she listened to the stories and viewed the exhibits, remembering stories told to her by her great-grandfather about his life. She commented that the resilience and strength of those men and women caused her to feel grateful and blessed. My experience was difficult as well. To realize that we could treat other people in such a horrible way. And to occasionally, even today, see someone who disapproves glaring at a mixed couple is depressing as hell.We highly recommend this tour. The grounds were beautiful and the exhibits, audio stories and additional display inside the gift shop were very impactful. You may even catch sight of a few alligators!Recommendations- bug spray for the mosquitos and tissues....At the end of the tour, Dennis suggested a second tour to us discussing the cultural history of New Orleans.(NOLA) 2nd Line Tours - History of New OrleansThanks to Jay for this informative cultural tour! We appreciated his love for his city and his "tell it like it is" attitude. Studio Be was amazing! Everyone needs to view Brandan's talent.Visiting the McDonogh 19 Elementary School building was powerful. Hearing her story about her experience and then walking up those steps was like taking a walk back in time. The back mural...just WOW! The Lower Ninth Ward part of the tour was heartbreaking. Being in the exact places we saw underwater on the news and seeing the levy and the area that broke was crazy! The worst was the recognition that the condition of the 9th Ward has not improved much over these years. It's sad to see that an area that once represented Black Ownership now resembles remnants of a battleground. Sadly, gentrification is coming.Thank you for offering us insight and first-hand views in places that most tours don't venture to. It was enlightening! There's so much more than Food, Jazz, Bourbon St and Mardi Gras if you care to learn about it! This tour shows you REAL TIME history.
